What a wonderful experience! I wasn't sure what to expect and honestly didn't have the highest hopes when I first decided to stop by! When I first pulled in, they had a pretty large free parking garage which was super helpful! They have numerous rooms for meeting spaces, lots of computers, and multiple info. desk areas where people are available to help you if you need it. They also have a lot of resources for audiobooks online. The only issue is some of them can take a while to become available...Overall, I am a little bit sad I am just now coming to visit this library! I feel like I have been missing out! You can use the printers with a library card for 10 free prints a day (they are $0.15 each so up to $1.50/day). I will say just like with any place you need to be aware of your surroundings! There were a couple of times I was making sure I kept an eye out, but luckily there are a lot of people around as well as a security guard that makes his rounds. This made me feel super safe! Great library in downtown WS. Friendly staff, good election of books available most of the time. Easy pickup and return. Plus a coffe shop on site, plenty out parking, multiple levels and areas to work, and tons of monthly events for everyone at all their locations. read more

I find something new everytime I come here! We started visiting here weekly to kill time while waiting for my daughter's extracurricular activity to finish and it's amazing what we continue to discover. First, super kid friendly with a schedule for activities planned just for them! There's even a whole section of the library dedicated to kids from books, a cute quiet reading corner wheel built into the wall, a giant interactive play pad for 4, a drawing station, sensory toys along the wall and private rooms you can bring them into to do work. I recently also needed a room to take a work call as a last minute thing and they were helpful in accommodating me into one of their available rooms that didn't require training. Wifi is good, there are places everywhere to plug in, and there's coffee downstairs called Moji that's good and supports and employs neurodiverse individuals. I could go on from the dvds, video games, comic books and other opportunities but there isn't enough space or time. Just check it out! It's got something for everyone. read more

It's very evident the white staff members need DEI, unconscious biased and effective communication styles training (assertive vs. aggressive). I have been consistently coming to the library to study for two weeks now and have encountered two very rude white women on different occasions. One even called the guard on me because I wasn't packing up fast enough at 7:55pm. Please give people grace and communicate in a non-aggressive manner. read more

They have a massive selection of books, a clean environment, and an area where you can use computers. I came to print a piece of paper, since I don't currently have a printer at home. Fewer than 10 pages is free. It couldn't have been easier. read more

Central Library is amazing! They have such a huge assortment of books and DVD's. When you first walk in, there are books for sale for under a $1. There are always new ones to choose from each time I visit. There is also a cafe located to your right that serves an assortment of drinks and snacks. Free WiFi for personal use and there are plenty of computers to log on to if you don't have a laptop. You have up to an hour of use and you can print up to 10 documents for free each day. If you enjoy watching documentaries there are plenty to choose from at this location! They also have new DVDS of movies that were just released! Big children's area with toys and computers and study areas. The calendar has a variety of events, most of them virtual right now, due to covid. Visit this location if you can! Perfect for student life- The study rooms are marvelous! You will need a library card in order get one but we'll worth it. It's a 3 floor library with a Balcony room. Art displayed all over the place and I love that! They have a little book sale stand and different sections for all age groups. for a modern day library this is a very well put together location. read more

This library is beautiful! Full of tables with big windows makes it a great spot for studying. However it lacks signs/zones of "QUIET" or " NO CELLPHONES" therefore you could be in the most perfect place and people get on their speaker phone and the rest is history. There is also NO assigned quiet areas so everyone can be super disturbing. I guess is not just a library problem but the people who come here to get on Facebook. I wish this library had an assigned quiet area where I knew humanity wasn't death yet! Otherwise wonderful study spot with a cafe, nice staff just really LOUD CELLPHONE people! WHO's bight idea was it to put books at ground level, you have to crawl on the floor to see titles.

I love the new for Forsyth county library. The modern architecture makes it a cool place to hang out. The children's area is great. In is huge with a great selection of books and activities for kids to play with. The staff has been helpful. I also like the modern checkout stations which get you in-and-out much faster. read more

I've been coming to this library since a child. Now that I have my own child I bring him. The workers in the children's area could be a little more cheerful and appear like they enjoy their job. After all we are trying to instill a love for reading in our children. It's also a breeding ground for the homeless and loitering. 4 stars for the awesome summer program they run and the fact that it's located across the street from Bib's BBQ! read more

I love to read. Im not well read but I spend a lot of time during the week in bookstores and now the library. I read mostly sports related books but lately I've become fascinated with the Holocaust and have digested a few books on that subject. More options than I'll ever have time to consume and a great selection of dvds and cds. I ripped about ten discs last week. Silverchair - Freak, Bruce - Born in the USA, and a few rare Pearl Jams I didn't have. Now that USA today has gone to a buck a day I stop in and catch up on the previous day's news. I visited yesterday for the Grand Opening of the Central library branch downtown. I cannot use enough descriptive words to explain how wonderful this facility is. We are blessed in Winston-Salem to have this community space. The outside architecture is modern and there is a beautiful sculpture on the lawn with a courtyard and gravel walking path with benches along the way. As you walk in you can see up through the atrium to the top (3rd) floor - it is open, airy, modern yet warm, classic yet contemporary. There is really something for everyone. CoffeePark has a nice little coffee bar when you enter. They plan to offer sandwiches and salads as well going forward. Just pas that you'll find the auditorium. To the left as you enter, you walk into the main floor of the library and then through the children's area which is just perfect. If you have small children, this is a must-see. On the second floor, you'll find the North Carolina room featuring artwork from NC artists - paintings, photography, sculpture, artifacts. There's a covered open-air balcony with seating on this floor as well. Go on up to the third floor and you'll find the teen room complete with young-adult books, video game stations with comfy chairs and wall-mounted screens. I'm leaving out so much, just go! The place is littered with comfy chairs, reading nooks, something for everyone. There's some garage parking (free) on the lower level under the building, and street parking is not hard to find at all. I am so happy to have this library within walking distance of my office - I plan to spend many lunch hours there perusing the books, enjoying a coffee or just sitting and reading. Kudos Winston-Salem on a job well done. read more
