Better because part of the reason for the damage to begin with was rooted in a small construction error by the furniture maker. And not only did Warren fix and refinish the wood on the bed to look as if the damage had never happened, he took apart the post to find the underlying weakness and fixed that too. It gets better still. Because Warren was easy to contact, he was able to make the appointment to come look at the bed within a day or two, he called ahead to ask if it was possible to arrive early (more woohoo) and his price for the great work he did was very reasonable. I learned Warren does the repair and finishing work for furniture and woodwork at a well known Central Oregon resort. It's easy to see why they trust him to do that. He also does refinishing work on cabinetry, woodwork and furniture for interior design professionals (who can be particular folks) as well as for homeowners and business owners. One more woohoo worthy comment - Warren uses environmentally friendly products! We're going to need some refinishing done on home office built ins next year. The curved interior in an Airstream are three demential and not easy to make fit, the install looks better than factory. Price was comparable to the others in town, but quality and reputation at Red hot is far above the rest. I plan on taking my newest restoration project to them with a blank check. I trust the crew completely, and have found they their recommendations are spot on. If all of that was not proof enough, I use Red Hot to do custom jobs for the fire department I work for (Not Bend Fire, but I think they use them too). However, I had to wait in the shop to get someone's attention at that time. I overlooked it as a bad moment in time. It was, rather, a precursor to their attention to clients. Today I called at 0900 and left a message with details on who I was, what I wanted, and referenced the quote. At 1500 they had not called back so I called again and was told they were booked until June. I understand they are booked ahead and would accept that but I cannot fathom the lack of a courtesy call from a business owner.

I can understand that if it's not the way your used to working with shops that it could be frustrating, but it harkens back to a time when we were not all in a hurry and demand that we are paid attention to now. Does he lose business because the way he works? That's obvious. But the quality is there and if your an outdoorsman you will enjoy his stories and down home demeanor and soft spoken voice. He is moving out of Bend to Redmond. Rent went up over $400 a month. It's a sad day when well established business that have been here for decades can no longer afford to stay.
