We had a fabulous time enjoying the Manhattan Transfer at The Blue Note last week! Great seats at a side table. All the seats were good as a matter of fact. Next time, if it's just two of us, I'll get seats at the bar. The venue is really beautiful, nestled in an historic opera house in downtown Napa. The wait was short--about 20 minutes. Then the doors opened just as they said they would at 8:30. The show started promptly at 9:00. Service was quick and efficient. The best thing about the service, though, was that there was a group of very intoxicated patrons who were talking loudly through the beginning of the show. Before I knew it they were escorted out. But there was no commotion. One minute they were there, the next minute, I turned around and they were gone. Poof! The evening was saved and we all had a good time. Do not order the Brie dip. Not cheesy at all. Just like creamy foam. Eww. Cocktails were good, and of course the wine was good. We got a free glass of Prosecco and appetizer with my friend's Priority Wine Pass. Came here with a friend the other night for a showing of Polyrhythmics (great music btw). Wanted to check out the new renovations since the new ownership. Napa has a great new addition of a venue that could easily cater to comedy acts, improv, and musical artists. The design of the downstairs is electrifying. Blue shadows cover the walls with music instruments displayed all around. Adequate seating around gives a very up close and personal feel to seeing any performer on stage. They have a full bar that extended through almost wall to wall. They have a nice menu, offering a variety of apps, small plates, entrees and desserts. We had the beets, almonds, and fries (dinner was still settling so we weren't too hungry) everything was satisfying and I would say worth the price, I'll be going back to try the scallops. The only downfall I would say would be our service, it seemed as though our table kept getting forgotten. I'm not sure if we were just hard to see or our server was just overwhelmed with the amount of people seated. There was what looked to be 1 other server and 2 runners, so I cut him some slack, though had I not understood the serving industry, I'm not sure I would have been so forgiving. Its easy to give a good review when every thing goes right. This is a little different. Good News: Awesome music venue in downtown Napa. Menu is varied from dinner to small plates. Seating is good and ample for a caberet. Bad News/Good News: Drove up to Napa to see David Sanborn. Turns out he took ill and cancelled. There was no notification. I drove 80 miles and rented a hotel room for this event. Good News: They found a high quality substitute act albeit Blues/Rock Trio. They comp'd me on the entertainment; put me in premium seating; and since I will be out of town when Sanborn returns in April they gave me a full refund including all service charges. The Servers were awesome: Present, friendly, but not intrusive. The manager checked in a couple times to see how I was doing. Nothing is ever perfect in business, but it's my opinion that you see the true character of leadership of an organization when things go wrong. So Kudos to the Staff and Management of Blue Note Napa!!!!! read more

Kinda tourist trap. They give out free tickets at the info center and they look official but when you go to the location they give you horrible seats. Food is a 1 out of 5. Service is good, they are trying. The band playing was very nice to listen but our seats were not very comfortable so we left early. Prices for wines are high. Went to Blue Note NAPA to hear Blood, Sweat and Tears in downtown Napa, CA. We bought tickets online. However, they don't have reserve seating. As such, to get a good seat we stood outside in the elements for over an hour. As the place is pretty small, there was really no need as we found out. I was concerned being so close to the band that it might be really loud, but it was not. Show was about 1 1/2 hr long - very good. They do have a menu and pretty good wine list plus full bar. Only ordered snacks as was do late but food was ok. Clean, comfortable environment and seating was ok. Staff were pretty friendly. Prices were medium to high but par for course in that area. My friends and I attended a concert by Con Fun Shun. Booked a table on the floor. We had not ever been to the Blue Note prior. From the get - go, we got mis-information about when to arrive for the show. Seating for the 6:30 p.m. show got started late. Show started late. Patrons are packed in like sardines. The venue was full, but quite understaffed. It took us almost an hour to get our drinks and appetizers. (Charcuterie platter consisted of 4 breaksticks stuck in a mason jar with one toothpick holding cheese chunks, and one toothpick holding chunks of salami. Pretty bad rip-off). Altho our waitress was overwhelmed, she was gracious and did a great job. The show was off the charts fabulous! The place was really rocking. So, if I could avoid it, I would not return to this venue. But if they had a super terrific act, I might consider it. read more

Just don't go on a night they're having events. They're so greedy of a venue they literally PACKED the house to the brim and tbh the fire department might want to come do a few drive by's every now and again to ensure nothing happens to this place because WOW! There's literally almost no place to sit, they very obviously added 2-4 chairs too many per table, I couldn't clearly see the act eventho I have had these tickets for over a month. I thought for sure they would cap the venue at a certain amount not even close to breaching capacity (especially with COVID still rampant) since they were making folks buy tickets to this event based on the size of the venue... I get it's a sold out event BUT y'all oversold this event to the point that it isn't even enjoyable. And for high ass Napa prices I want to ENJOY every moment I PAID for. I will never come back to this horrible venue, there's just not enough soave for all the people they're trying to accommodate and it's coming off as extremely greedy. I'm not happy at all with my first and most definitely last experience at this venue specifically! Never again. And to top it all off the only reason I came here was to surprise my gf for her birthday and I just don't feel I did her birthday justice with this wack ass overcrowded venue. Don't come here for special events, it definitely isn't worth your coin. Not when there are better things to do in Napa. read more

It would be great to love this place. It brings good quality music to a starved Napa music scene, and the venue's size and acoustics are excellent. They even have a "public service" announcement asking everyone to mute cellphones and talk quietly, reinforcing the idea that this is a place for music. Unfortunately, it's all talk. Loudmouths at the bar who are there to listen only to themselves are given little or no discouragement. They are definitely not asked to step outside to talk . Poor management of such a great spot. No wonder attendance is frequently low. People who want to listen to music don't want a loud bar scene. And management doesn't bother to enforce the house rules. Sad. read more

We were spending a week in Napa and went looking for some entertainment. Someone mentioned this but didn't know much about it. We thought we would give it a try. After all, it is Napa and the food and entertainment ought to be good. Right? First, we ordered the Prix Fixed dinner thinking this would be a good choice. I ordered a salad, pasta with pulled pork, and creme brûlée. The salad included anchovies. The waitress assured us the flavor was not overpowering. Wrong. Yuk! It ruined what might otherwise have been a decent salad. Next, pulled pork pasta sounded a little weird, but it wouldn't be the first time I have been surprised by how chefs pull together disparate tastes. Ugh, not so much. They didn't go together at all. Maybe the pulled pork would be good, and the pasta was okay, but they just didn't blend well at all. And the brockley didn't add anything helpful either. Finally, the creme brûlée was burned on the surface. I thought perhaps I could steer around the char, but the burned flavor permeated the creme. Really awful. So, the dinner was a total bust. And for over a C note for two, this was not acceptable. The entertainment was a quartet including a singer with a Ukulele, a drummer, a guitar and an electric six string instrument laid on a table. The mix was such that neither the singer nor the ukulele could be heard, and the guy on the flat guitar was either terribly off-key or on a creative jazz thing that didn't blend at all. The only redeeming feature was they were obviously having a good time and it was infectious. The occasional time the singer was close enough to the mike to hear him, he sounded okay. So in recap, this is a place I would unfortunately tell you to avoid. I certainly will. read more

We saw Manhattan Transfer last week at the Blue Note. This was our first trip to this venue. It was absolutely fantastic! We sat in one of the booths and had dinner before the show. The food, cocktails and service were excellent! And the show was fabulous! There is not a bad seat in the room and it is so incredible to be that close to the performers. It really was such a fun evening and we would recommend the Blue Note to anyone looking for an entertaining evening! We are so lucky to have such an awesome place to see live music so close....and we will be back soon! PS We saw the same show as another person who reviewed this show on Yelp....and we actually thought the Manhattan Transfer (who we have seen before) sounded great! Loved it! My boyfriend and I went to the Blue Note for a show on a Saturday evening. I wasn't sure what to expect since the last venue here, city winery, was a bust. However, I was so impressed!! Everything from the music to the food was fabulous. Our waiter, Michael, gave probably the best service I have ever received in Napa. The cocktails were yummy and the food was perfect. I first booked tickets for a concert back in March. I got a bite for the night, went down to Blue Note and then was alerted from a note on the door that the business was closed until further notice. The paper said they notified people via email however I have no record of ever being told about this change. After multiple months they rescheduled the concert but it was on such short notice it was impossible to work around work schedules. This is such a small venue with so few seats it should be completely reasonable to contact all guests for the night. Ten dollar minimum plus cost of the tickets ($25-$50 on average). Affordable parking with validation ($3.00) nearby. read more

We were at the Charles Krug Winery and yes it is a very pretty setting but when you buy alcohol and pay cash, you get ripped! They don't have coin change and if a beer says it's $8.00 and you buy two, it should be 16 but they only give you back 2 bucks from a 20 bill. They say they add in tax but tax on $16 is not two dollars. They told me they don't have coins to give back in change so they just round it up so don't pay cash! They do not do this if you pay by a credit card. So, they are keeping alot of people's money and I guess just giving themselves but tips. Don't know how they get away with this, but buyers beware. read more

My husband and I recently enjoyed a night out at the Blue Note in Napa. It had the perfect ambiance, the food was fantastic, & dessert was even better! (The mixed drinks were also perfectly measured!) The service blew me away, their timing for checking on our table was perfect, and every single one of them looked like they loved their jobs. We also loved the entertainment. Perfect for a date night as well as a family night. Upstairs they have converted the old Opera House into a Ballroom! Really amazing space with such historical significance. We only got a small peek because there was an event being set up, but the possibilities are endless! read more

Was excited to be seeing Willie K, though all we got to see was the base players butt! Got a glimpse of Willie K's hat...on occasion. Side table seating is ridiculous! There should not be a table in the corner where someone paying for the show has to sit. Sound in that corner is also not very good, wait staff never comes to that corner...unless you can(finally) get their attention. Unfortunately, did not know to get there early to get a better spot. Figured all seats were ok for watching. WRONG! That little table should be a standup bar area only, so that at least one can see over the speakers. Very disappointing. read more

Was there last night to watch my friend Ross play with the Jealous Zelig Quintet. The band was excellent. The acoustics in this place aren't the best, so I don't go often, but wanted to support my friend. I bought a ticket for the side bar and the price was very reasonable. I went to the bar to order a drink and the bartender asked if I was at a table. I mistakenly said yes, and she told me to order through the server. I returned to my seat and was told that I had to order from the bar, the side bar as they call it isn't a table and doesn't have service. I returned to the bar, explained it to the bartender and told me she had tickets to fill ahead of me. I told her "no problem at all" and proceeded to wait. I was just to the side of the server station being careful to stay out of the way. A couple of minutes later she raised her voice, told me this isn't a "hangout spot" and very very rudely, told me I would have to leave. We had a great night watching Dennis Quaid. However, we experienced Napa snobbery to the fullest extent when we waited in line in the hot evening & Smokey sun to find out 1/4 of the bar had been reserved for " artist guests " that we're not very respectable. The staff was accommodating but be forewarned if you stand in line expecting to get great bar seats you may be disappointed since their policy of first come first serve is at the artist's & establishments discretion. We had the best night!! I brought my boyfriend out tonight on his 50th Birthday, I've been wanting to bring him here for at least a year now previous to tonight...I can't believe how much we enjoyed ourselves. I mean I meant to have a great time, but it was Super Great! The food, OMG...It is definitely gourmet..The warm brie with crunchy garlic toast was something I'd like to eat everyday..So good ..We got the meal for oh I think 49 dollar value, we chose, Cauliflower soup to start, I asked for hot sauce and never once used it..The soup was beautiful and just as tasty, next we got our Short Rib Nachos, ohh so good..lol..I know, we like food what can I say...I kept thinking they are going to bring our dish and where will we put it, it will get cold,, you know how restaurants can be..Nope, not here, our girl drops by to ask if we need anything and are we ready for our next plate? Whaaaat? I love this place, so our next plate is Halibut with little potatoes, it was a party in our mouth of flavor...I was drinking a Moscow Mule, and Pete a Harvey Wall Banger..Also good drinks...Well we chose the Dark chocolate peanut butter fudge mousse thing for desert..had a spoon of ice cream with it, it was so good I ate about my half..We split the meal, we like to eat, and share, so we don't leave feeling bad..lol..The Best part was watching Pete enjoy his night out after working all day, Mark Allen Felton was really good, the band he played with was really good, the ambiance and decor was fun, funky and stylish, the bathroom was huge, clean and I said whoa! when I walked in...I'm so sorry no pics, I turned off my phone to enjoy our time...I'd love to give a special thanks to our server Maha, Thank you so much, you apologized for making us wait, but you never ever did, you were a really great server, we couldn't of had it better.. We went there for the Mindi Abair concert and she did not disappoint. I wish I could say otherwise about the food. They need to have a better selection of food for those who are dairy intolerant. The chef made an effort to make a vegetarian risotto for my wife but it had no flavor. We brought a bottle of wine and we had to start opening ourselves before the waiter saw us and opened ourselves. And the sitting across fro your partner is stupid! I cant even cuddle with my wife while watching the show. We will be going back but I will sit next to my wife. I/We spent this past NYE (12/31/16) at the Blue Note in Napa to attend the Brian Culbertson's concert. I reached out to the Dylan the manager to have a few questions answered before paying a visit. He was quick to respond and came across friendly and professional thru the emails. Upon arrival, to my surprise, Dylan recognized me as soon as I walked in and called me by name, which was a very nice touch since we never met and this was my first visit. We sat in tall stools with backs on them in the bar area facing the stage which was my preference. The interior of the venue has a blue colored theme, and tastefully decorated with pictures of musicians and musical instruments throughout. This gives the place a romantic and sexy feel to it. Brian Culbertson was the entertainment, and as always, he did not let us down. The Blue Note is an intimate venue and there really isn't a bad seat in the house. I picked the bar area due to it being slightly higher than the seating on the floor/main area. The booth seating is in between the bar and the floor/main area and they looked nice to sit in as well. Eating the Prix Fixe menu that consisted of a pureed soup, scallops, crab cakes, and a chocolate soufflé like desert was nice to have during the show. The food presentation was nice, and the portions were appropriate. Kevin our waiter was honest and admittedly a little overwhelmed but once the dinner service started, he was quite attentive and any time I needed him, he was quick to respond. His welcoming hospitality really enhanced our dining experience. We received a couple of unexpected pleasant surprises during dinner that became the icing on the cake. Dylan and his staff made our 1st and definitely will not be the last visit, extraordinary and I plan to become a member and a regular customer because of the stellar treatment that we received. I really could go on and on about my wonderful evening that I had but to sum it up, my expectations of having a great evening bringing in the 2017 year were exceeded and I am SO happy I chose to spend it there at the Blue Note in Napa.
