I'm currently taking watercolor lessons with her, and today was my second class. What makes Elizabeth so special is that she teaches far beyond painting. She shares years of wisdom and experience about both art and life. Every class has a real lesson plan and homework. She starts with the basics, works with you on what you want to learn, and personally checks your work, writing progress notes in her beautiful handwriting. She teaches techniques and approaches that you simply don't find on YouTube. Today she taught me the steps of "drawing three ways," "sit and think in color," "block," and "paint." She also lent me two of her watercolor books on tips and techniques to study at home. She generously lends books every week and even gave me a palette with her colors from her tubes. She spends time helping you choose the right paints and brushes and every week she gives me two sheets of watercolor paper and said, "Go play with it." That encouragement alone made me smile. "Choose (to paint) what inspires you..a thought, a dream, an image or real life" One of my favorite lessons from her has nothing to do with technique. She taught me never to say "I messed up." Instead, say "It wasn't supposed to be this way." What a beautiful way to look at art -- and life. Elizabeth is not just a teacher. She gets to know you as a person, listens to you, and somehow feels a little like a therapist, too. You can tell she genuinely cares about her students. She also does drawing and watercolor and is starting Expressive art therapy sessions soon! At $60 per class, I feel I'm getting so much more than a watercolor lesson. My son is 5 year old, how they handled it is absolutely unacceptable, unprofessional, and disrespectful. I even talked with my son's school counselor, she was shocked and asked if this is their school after school program. This art center apparently works with a charter school, I hope their students is not being treated the same way. NOT recommended. To respond to the owner's response: you made my son sounded like a horrible child to work with, to be honest. To the point I even reached out to his school counselor, but turned out his is just a NORMAL 5 year old. Even yourself admitted over text messages that you should have done better with communication with parents. If 5 is too young, then set a higher age limit. A friend recommended that I try Yamaha Music School and so I did. We have been going there for years now. The staff and teachers are very friendly. I might just have to get lessons for myself. They offer a variety of lessons for different instruments and age groups. You can also select private lessons which is what we did. They also have at least one recital during the year.

Poor management. My…read moredaughter took both group and private piano classes for 3 years and we have since left Yamaha and my daughter is so much happier with her new piano school. Over the years, none of my concerns were addressed by management. This includes the placement of a candy box in reception that kids can purchase unhealthy snacks from before and after class. In this day and age, it serves no purpose except so this company can generate additional income and to promote obesity among children. I also asked that my daughter be provided the recital trophy which I had paid for and which she never received. We never saw the trophy. After Covid, classes became online which was not a good fit for my child. I asked for in person classes and she tried 2 different instructors who she barely understand as English was not their first language. As a parent, It was awful sitting through the classes, watching these teachers lack of any warmth, rapport, or sort of engagement with my child. And even worse, my child did what the asked of her and when she asked a question, the teacher flat out dismissed her. My child hated piano and music after working with these instructors for a month, and she had been playing for 3 years. I reached out to management twice and my concerns regarding these instructors were never addressed. I was told the director is out of the country. Grace the manger was useless. Melissa in the office was also not helpful. I am so incredibly disappointed in Yamaha. This market is too competitive to deal with Yamaha--save your money and go else where--Music is really meant to be joyous.
