We found Greg on Yelp and because of his high reviews and an awesome playlist he created that I found on his website, I sent him a message about DJing our August '17 wedding. After emailing many DJs, we ultimately hired Greg for our wedding which was a fantastic decision! Thanks to his follow up emails (wedding planning is very painful and laborious - ughhh), we had a great conversation! He was able to work with our budget which was fantastic because actually he was my first choice due to his awesome taste in music and his prompt responses and follow up emails! He was an absolute pleasure to work with! He listened to my music choices and totally understood the vibe we were going for! As a former radio DJ and music promoter, music is really important to me! I was actually thinking of doing the entire playlist myself if needed, but we're so happy we found Greg! I absolutely loved Popscene circa 2007. I was there pretty much every week, and this style of music (dancey indie music) is still my jam. Greg knew exactly what I was talking about and said he also frequented the club during this time. Yes! No explanation needed! He just *got* it. I made a playlist for our entrance song, 1st dance, cake cutting, and some "must haves" for dinner and dancing and Greg made sure all of them were played in addition to of course lots of music that a wide array of people will enjoy! We had lots of Beatles music since my husband is from Liverpool (and we had lots of British guests in attendance); so we also had some Brit Pop and lots of fun other tunes to suit everyone's needs. The only minor issue we had was that it was difficult to hear some of the announcements (however, this was more of an issue with our venue and the speaker locations than Greg, since he had to be set up inside technically, and our dinner and dance floor were outside). I really lucked out finding Greg for our wedding in June of 2019. He was the first DJ I came across, and perusing his playlists for other weddings and events he'd done really got me excited. After talking to him I was even more excited - he was so easy going and made things sound so...easy! To be thorough I looked at other DJs but each time I did, I just knew deep down it was Greg, it was always going to be Greg! Fast forward to the wedding, it turned out it WAS really easy working with him. He is very organized and I think that was reflected in how everything went off without a hitch, from all of the technical details, working with our videographers, having a separate ceremony and reception area, to managing the detailed time line and getting the timing perfect when we rejoined our guests for cocktail hour to the short but wonderful theme song of The Office. Of course I have to talk about the music too - with a few must have song choices, and a general idea of the type of music we wanted, Greg hit it out of the park. Our cocktail and dinner music was perfect with so many favorite bands I know our guests also appreciated, including Belle & Sebastian, Yo La Tengo, and JAWBREAKER!! :) And then the dancing - he really kept us dancing, which is the point right? The atmosphere for the party last night was incredible. He was pulling out everything from Elvis to Link Wray, Robert Gordon and threw in some McCoys for good measure. He played a mix of fifties and sixties music that kept everyone dancing. It was mixed really well with great beat matching transitions between songs and continuous music without any pauses or annoying shout outs. I saw Greg spinning at the Fox Theater in Oakland and loved his set. The crowd was super mixed, and everyone seemed to be into different types of music, but he kept everyone happy and dancing. Most DJs seem to have their "thing" and they stick to it, but he mixed in a little bit of everything, including my requests. I had a lot of fun at my friend's wedding last weekend. I met Greg, the DJ, and was pretty shocked by the way he snuck some cool, indie music into his mix, and everyone still danced. He had them going with normal wedding stuff like Michael Jackson and Daft Punk, but I seriously never expected to hear LCD Soundsystem at a wedding, but he pulled it off. I don't think most people even knew what the song was, but the way he kind of just snuck it into the mix was impressive. Same thing later when he played Hercules and Love Affair.
