Stopped in today for sandwiches and baked goods to take sailing. Easy to find spot with quick service. Italian subs are good and they'll put the dressing on the side if you're going on a picnic to keep the sandwich from getting too soggy - be prepared for a violent amount of red onion. They don't wrap the sandwiches very well, so we had issues carrying it very far without it coming undone (like to the parking lot). Blondie was only about half baked and overly sweet. read more

It was ok. I went by between 9-10am. I grabbed some bagels and a couple pastries/treats. The bagels had kind of an interesting texture. We also got a whoopie pie, a blueberry cheese coffee cake and a fudge brownie. The cake on the whoopie pie was very dry (although we thought the cream was really very good). The coffee cake had an overwhelming cream cheese flavor. And yeah- I know how that sounds. It's a blueberry cheese coffee cake. Like, duh, but it really overwhelmed the whole thing. The brownie seems pretty good. I just had a small bite (we are sort of cutting these up to share between 5 of us). Service was just service. Nothing extraordinary but nothing bad either. I came earlier to get an Italian sub. On the board, the ingredients are clearly ham, salami, and capicola. Once I received my sub, I only found just ham in my sandwich. I went inside and the two guys at the cashier were extremely nice and asked the staff of the kitchen to add the missing meats. Although there seemed to be a language barrier, the front counter staff was able to communicate with them effectively. First, the three kitchen employees said that all meats were in my sandwich. Second, they were resistant and trying not to fix my sub, then they made it, but were laughing and kept looking at the window at me in the meantime. Fortunately, I speak Spanish fluently, and I was able to overhear them. I had impression they were tempering with food. I grabbed my sandwich, but threw it in the garbage. I nearly went to McDonald's but wanted something healthier, more organic and tasty. Instead, I was left with a bad taste in my mouth. I should have asked for my money back but I decided to avoid any drama, since the front counter employees were so nice and friendly to me. Great little bakery tucked in a strip mall. We had bagels and a slice of blueberry coffee cake along with coffee. Services as fast and the food was delicious. This is a busy place so be prepared to stand in line. The peppercorn Parmesan bagel and the cheddars jalapeño bagel were both delicious with plenty of cream cheese. Love how coffee is self serve on separate counter so no waiting. They are so homey here I love it. All coffee pots were empty when we arrived yesterday morning, I mentioned to staff, they asked me to hand the pots to them as they handed back fresh pot & I put them back in the correct order of lightest to darkest roast . This local bakery was an amazing find! My family and I truly enjoyed everything they had to offer. You could tell the locals enjoyed it also because of the courtesy they gave and knew their customers by name as they came in and got them their usual. The place had a lot great options for such a small space to store it all. You can easily find something for everyone in here. I'd you're looking for breakfast options and craving a cinnamon roll or sticky bun, go somewhere else. We've been here twice for cinnamon rolls, and they have "sticky buns" that are slimy, unrisen dough swirls with glaze. They look more like a thick pancake than a fluffy yeast roll. We couldn't finish the first one we had when we visited the first time. We left hungry and disappointed. It wasn't cheap, either. For $5.50, we expect a really good cinnamon roll or sticky bun. After that first visit, we gave feedback and were told this wasn't the norm. We promised we'd come back and try again. It's been several months. This time we left without ordering anything and went somewhere else. What's disappointing is that everything else in the bakery looks great! I'd give the sticky buns a negative star rating if I could. The taste and especially the raw dough texture are disgusting. Even the girl at the counter said they were an "acquired taste." I know I've struggled to make yeast breads here at altitude, but their other offerings show they know what they're doing. Really disappointed; we won't come back for breakfast. I'll start with the pros.. great staff.. super friendly, helpful and all around awesome. Went on a weekend morning and they weren't packed, but clearly it's a popular place. Lots of menu choices and a great bakery selection. Cons- I hate to write anything negative.. but man.. I got a cupcake and it was so stale I couldn't eat it. Next I tried a scone.. same thing, it was dry, no flavor and I threw it in the lake for fish to enjoy, however out of 3 things ordered, the pumpkin loaf was awesome. Fresh, moist, great flavor and it was 3 breakfasts for me. I'd definitely try their other breads, but I really hope they will adjust some other items on the menu. The rave ratings brought me here :-) It was packed, as to be expected. You stand in line, order your food to eat or go, but good luck finding a seat in the small tiny bakery. I was actually irritated a two women who were obviously done with their meal, yapping it up about personal issues with relationships, job, therapy, blah blah blah.,,Blue Moon needs to put a sign up to tell people to limit their time to actual eating. The coffee was so light I thought it was tea. I had to ask again, which coffee dispensers were light and which were strong. I tried every dispenser but the coffee was so watered down you could see through it. McD's had better coffee. The Breakfast Burrito with the three eggs and veggies hit the spot! It was almost $7.00 but so so worth it. I loved it. There's also a bunch of cool pastries, cookies and cake pops you can buy. I wanted to return the next day but the lack of seating made me choose The Mountain Lyon Cafe, which was also very good. I was passing through Silverthorne on a work trip, and a coworker of mine suggested we stop in to Blue Moon Bakery to grab some lunch and take a break from our drive. As others have mentioned, the storefront is pretty unassuming; it actually looks somewhat run down... it isn't a place I'd think twice about stopping at, if I'm being honest. The cafe is nestled in a strip mall within a larger shopping center off of I-70, and is definitely easy to miss unless you know its there. The parking lot is shared by a large number of businesses, so finding a spot is pretty easy. Once I stepped inside, the vibe did a complete 180! The atmosphere was super laid back, and the ambiance was comfy and cozy; I can definitely see this place being super busy at times. The menu is pretty impressive for the size of the place. Tons of different sandwiches and salads and bagels (breakfast or lunch)! You're even able to get breakfast items (bagels and burritos) all day long, which I thought was rad. The line was pretty short when we got there, so we were able to get through pretty quickly. I ordered the turkey avocado sandwich on rosemary garlic bread, and my coworker ordered the chipotle chicken sandwich on their tomato bread. The dining area itself is pretty small, and feels kind of cramped, but we managed to find a larger table to sit at, which helped a bit. After about ten minutes, our names were called to pick up the sandwiches, and we were able to sit and eat. It was kind of a long time to wait for the food we were given, but we were hungry, and ready to continue on our way. I didn't end up getting a photo of my coworker's sandwich, but he said it was pretty good. Mine was just okay; I feel sort of indifferent about it. The presentation was pretty lackluster, and it was no better than something I could make at home... it was just... meh. My total for the sandwich and a bottle of water came out to about $12. I certainly don't think my meal was anywhere near worth that, but I also understand that we were in Silverthorne, so it was kind of to be expected. Overall, the food wasn't amazing, and I wasn't super impressed, but it wasn't horrible. What I REALLY got excited about were the yummy treats in the cases up front. Oh my gosh... the pastry cases!!! I wanted to save the best for last! They definitely steal the show, and are the focal point of the whole cafe. I'm such a sucker for baked goods, and this place had such an extensive selection of basically everything you could imagine, including gluten free options. Everything looked so well made and soooo yummy! I ended up getting a peanut butter fudge brownie and a lemon bar to take with me. They were wrapped in cellophane, and cold to the touch, which I expected. The brownie was CRAZY rich; it took me forever to eat it! I love peanut butter and chocolate together (and separately! ), so this totally hit the spot. Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to try the lemon bar... after it warmed up a bit, it didn't look quite as appetizing, and seemed to be really really gooey. I think this treat would have been better to try at the cafe. If I ever found myself in the area, and wanted a quick bite, I'd totally consider stopping in again. Frankly, though, I know there are other, better options, so it wouldn't be my first choice. If I wanted pastries though, that might be a different story! read more
