Once the order was placed they were in contact with me, advised me of next steps, and shipped my bike out very quickly. When it arrived, it was packaged exceptionally well and completely flawless, and it was assembled about as far as it could be for shipping. About 30 minutes later I was riding. What really made them standout was the after-sale service. I'll admit I took a few tries to get my saddle height correct, partially due to the seat post slipping. In the process of readjusting, I ended up stripping the seat post wedge bolt. I emailed them back, and both Peter and Andrew responded, and had a replacement part as well as carbon paste dispatched to me almost immediately. This is despite them knowing that I'm out in CA and pretty much guaranteed not to have my bike serviced there. That level of customer support is almost unheard of now and a true testament to how devoted they are to the customer experience. Whether you are local to them or online, I can't recommend Contender Bicycles enough, and I can confidently say I will be buying all my bikes and cycling gear from them from now on.

The best part is effortlessly shooting up a hill past some kids who look at me like I must be superhuman or something : ) There's no way they can easily tell my bicycle has a power assist mode. I added a ton of upgrades, least of which were puncture resistant tires and inner tubes, vital I have learned, for cycling in the Salt Lake Valley. Electric bikes have come so far in the last couple of years, they look like mountain bikes but make cycling uphill a breeze and ride just like normal bikes on a level grade. If you're trying to figure out just how much I know about bikes, know that I'm pre-novice. I mean,…read moregramps taught me to ride a bike as a kid. The training wheels are long gone. In my teenage years I did some pretty long trips. But at this point I'm back to newb status. I've been toying with the idea of getting a bike to help keep some of the Yelp pounds off, so I just ducked in here to have a look around. It's a nice shop on the west side of 700 East, and everyone was friendly. I was greeted when I came in the door but left to myself to just browse and look at bikes and gear. There's plenty of both. It's not massive, but for all the basic needs you're definitely covered. Bikes ranged from entry level up to the 2-3K range. Maybe more, but I wasn't reading all the price tags. This was a good place to start. Since it's not all uber high end stuff, it was a good representation of what's out there. Plus with friendly folks behind the counter I can come back next time and start firing away on all my inane questions. Solid.
