Great bike shop! I just moved to the area and was happy to find a shop so close to my house. These guys really know what they're doing. I took my bike in without an appointment just to have it looked at because the brakes were rubbing. It only took 10 minutes total for the guy to finish what he was doing, take a look at my bike, tweak it, talk to me about it, and even take time to to talk to my husband about advice on buying a mountain bike. I will say however, that this shop is geared exclusively for sport biking (serious road biking or mountain biking). If you're like me and you use biking primarily as a form of commuting, but aren't a serious cycling athlete, it can be really intimidating. If you don't know anything about bikes and you're looking to get your first bike for casual riding, this place is definitely not for you. read more

Communication was poor only because their text system wasn't working, I wasn't receiving and communication on what seemed to be their primary tool on how they notify customers. I had to call them twice to get updates on what the status of my bike was. It ended up taking two and a half weeks for their most simple tuneup, which wasn't bad considering they gave me a two week completion time estimate. The one thing that is keeping me from leaving a better review is the poor communication and then finding out they needed to replace my chain, which was an additional cost. It would've been nice to know that this needed replacement before they automatically assumed to replace it. read more

We were quoted between 60 and 80 for a bike repair. We told them to call if it was going to be more. We never got a call but when we picked it up the charge was 3 times what they quoted. I don't usually go to bike shops, and i recently got a road bike but flatten the tire by going over some stickers, i found jerks on the internet and was a bit impatient to get it fixed so i popped a visit, the man with the beard at the cash register had a lot of people to help. he was super kind, funny and SUPER helpful with recommendations and any other helpful suggestions on what your bike may need or what they can do for you. overall, i am soooooo damn pleased with this place. I have visited the shop several times, once to have service done on my old bike and once to look at bikes when I was considering buying a new one. My third visit was last week to see if they could help fix my new bike. It had not been shifting properly and I spent some time on my own trying to fix it. I almost got it done, but ultimately needed a professional to look at it. I took it in and talked with the technician on duty and he put it on the rack and made the necessary adjustments. It took about 15 minutes or so. He told me that it wasn't so much the derailleur or the H/L screws but the tension on the cables. Either way, he adjusted all of them. And he did not charge me anything, which I really appreciated. The bike is shifting better but still not as smoothly as it should be. That is why the rating is 4-star and not 5. However, it is good enough for now and whatever remains of decent biking weather. I will take it back next spring/summer to them for a full tune-up and talk more about the shifting issue. I called Jerks Bike Shop to get new tires put on and a new seat. Even though they were very busy, the guy still said bring in my bike and he'd get me taken care of today (this was also within an hour of their scheduled closing time). I showed up, and like he said he took care of me immediately, got my tires and tubes put back on and my new seat. He also did a small tune-up to make sure everything was good to go. He didn't even charge me labor! This place will 1000% be receiving my business moving forward with any bike related issues I have. read more

They returned my bike way late, and chucked it up to a fault in their system. They left my bike worse than how it was when I gave it to them, after I payed their ridiculously overpriced tune up fee of 79 dollars. I tried to explain to them that it still wasn't working and they just blew me off, saying I didn't know what I was talking about. After much insistence they tried riding and realized the bullshit job they did. Then after fidgeting with it for 20 minutes they said it wasn't working because I have a "shitty bike". And after a week or so even more problems arose, tires they said they fixed went flat and chain that they said they fixed kept slipping. It's out of they way for me for one, but I didn't feel like being treated like a crazy person again so i didn't come back and I'm not coming back ever. read more

I ask for the parts to do the work myself and they screwed me over in as many ways as they could. The worst part is I don't think it was intentional. I've been trying for 2 days to put the grips on to no avail. I went back and they wouldn't give my money back because I had damaged the grips trying to get them back off once they were halfway on. They crimped the ferrules onto all of the cable covers so that they look like crap when I pull them off. I bought some tire sealant and it didn't have the valve stem remover. Yeah, they usually tried to make it right when I went back but I shouldn't have to keep going back. Besides that how can I go back when the parts they sold me keep me from being able to use my bike in the first place? I've spent a little over $200 at this location trying to get my bike working right and at this point I'm thinking I should've just gotten a Walmart Bike. Times are tough, I dipped into savings to try and better myself. Bicycles aren't a luxury item anymore. If places like this can't see that and adapt to market conditions then they're doomed. read more

Jerks bike shop is a great local business. I have been taking my bikes as well as my wife's bike to Jerks for about 7 years. Every year they retune the bikes for a very reasonable fee. Also, last year they recommended several hardware upgrades including incredible tires, etc. I rode ~1500 miles with no problems. I just dropped off my bike for the annual tune. The owner spent 10-15 minutes with me suggesting some replacement and upgrade ideas. I really like the idea of having a true neighborhood business that I can support, that provides outstanding service and has that "bike shop" feel to it. read more

I've been to many bike shops in my time but when I found Jerk's, I found my shop for life. The employees are very knowledgeable and friendly. The atmosphere is soft and personal. I purchased a bike there with the tire protection plan and I've never had any problems with it. They tune any bike purchased there for free as well. You feel like you matter when you get here. I've seen some reviews about not getting service right away and all I can say is if you can't wait for quality don't come here. Personally I've never had to wait. Very disappointed in the customer service I received. I bought a top tube bag from them and it just didn't fit my bike very well. I brought it back UNUSED and with the receipt. Where to start...I've been formulating this review for a bit now and it's been a roller coaster ride. I was pretty pissed yesterday afternoon and was considering giving them my first 1 star rating. Then today I thought 2 was more fair, but when I picked my bike up today, they earned back a star. This is how it went down. 7/26 I drop off my bike. No worries, no hurry, I'll be out of town the whole next week. They say they're pretty busy and probably won't get to it for a week anyway -- fine, I can live with that. And the estimate for the work was a pleasant surprise, as I expected it would cost more. :c) 8/5 I call to see if my bike is done. I hoped to hear something over the weekend, but nothing...they say the tires need to be replaced, but the bike is otherwise done. OK...why didn't you call me to tell me that earlier? Anyways, the bike should be done today or tomorrow morning. :c| 8/6 It's about 4 PM and still no word. I call back and am told the owner is out and the mechanic hasn't been informed what needs to be done. Seriously? The owner will be back shortly and the mechanic can get to work. No word that day. Xc( 8/7 I call and leave a message around 3:30 PM. Almost 7 PM they leave a message, as I missed their call, saying the bike is done. :c/ 8/8 I pick the bike up and am quite pleased with the service and am told they changed my tubes, one of the brakes and washed my bike for free. Good job guys. :c) Writing this out it seems less troublesome, but basically my gripe is this - why did no one ever update me on the delays? And why did I have to call three times and still not get a good picture why my bike still wasn't done? I don't get it, and I don't like being ignored. I know they did a lot of work, but when I'm told the bike is almost done Monday evening, why does it take till Wednesday night to finish it? And let's work on some workshop communication, please. Fortunately, they won me over a bit with free stuff :c) I like that they are close to where I live, which is why I came here to begin with. They were also friendly in the store and never left me waiting long. I really want to like this conveniently located small business... but they live up to their name. Our family has been there several times, and they seem to do the bare minimum to fix our bikes. If we come in with a flat tire, they fix it. However on the next ride, we find that it isn't riding properly after blowing a flat. Why don't they check that the bike will at least be rideable before giving it back to us? I wish they would take the time to care about their customers more. read more

I'm all for supporting small business and the local economy. With Covid I understand that delays will occur. Jerks delays were beyond reasonable and the customer service lasts until credit card company accepts the charge. I like to ride my bike and the weather is changing and I missed out on 9 days of riding. I had a flat tire on a Wednesday and went to Jerks' to buy a tube. Because of Covid tubes are in short supply (per Jerk). The tires were a bit worn so I asked about replacements. Not knowing the exact width (700c x ??) I brought the bike into the shop. Jerks didn't have the right tire either. I was going to leave when Jerk said "Don't go, if I order the tires today we will get them by the weekend and have you ready to go." Music to my ears. Jerk wrote up the ticket and said the bike would be ready 9 days later. When I asked about the lag time, it was just a system estimate and he was sure it would be ready that weekend. I went to Jerks' on Saturday, the tires were expected on Monday. Okay, I thought Jerk was optimistic in his estimate anyway. Wednesday (a week later) I stopped by to check the progress. Jerk verified that the tires had come in on Monday and that they might have it ready the next day if they got around to it. Friday afternoon, nine days later, the bike is ready. If I had known Jerk was full of promised and short on follow through, I would have taken the bike anywhere else. In fact, I ordered a new gravel bike from a different shop on Monday, when I found out about the delays.. They didn't have the right size and it had to be shipped. I picked the bike up on Thursday. Jerks' will get to replace my tires, but they will not get my repeat business. read more

I agree with some of the other reviewers that this is a bike shop with very poor customer service. I was told of a policy where they sell you a kids bike and allow you to trade up slowly to bigger bikes as the child grows. Sounded like a great deal, so I bought a balance bike for my kid there, and then a few weeks later after he was able to balance better than most of what I saw on YouTube, went back to get a pedal bike for my kid. Even after my child gave a live demonstration, in the store, I was told "he's not ready". This made no sense...until I was told that even if I wanted to buy the next size up, I couldn't because they had none in stock. This is a perpetual problem with the store. There are never more than two employees in the shop, and their stock is pathetic, (the shop itself is the size of a shoebox). A month later, I went back with the balance bike again, and still was told there was nothing in stock. I left my name and number and was told I'd get a call when the stock was in. This never happened, and we borrowed a pedal bike (from a friend) of the correct size in the meantime. Then, MONTHS later, I showed up again, IN PERSON, and it was like groundhog day, they didn't have the bike in stock, "leave me your number and we'll call you when they're in. It should be about 5 days or so." Weather turned cold, again months passed, and I made nearly a dozen calls (literally) to the shop, where the voicemail says, "Either we're not open or are closed for the day. Leave us a message and we'll call you back." I never received a single phone call from these guys, despite multiple physical messages left while in the store, and voicemails. Finally, I went in today, in the middle of December, and traded in the balance bike for a much bigger bike that my son can grow into. I was pleased that they DID keep their word, and credited me 100% of the cost of the balance bike...and got me out of the store quickly. The entire process has been very frustrating however, and I would not recommend this store given the tremendous bike shopping and servicing options that exist in this city. read more

I don't have a car so I just rely on public transportation and, since moving away from downtown, my bike. A bike cuts off a LOT of time for running errands on the way home from work or allows you to take more scenic routes home. It's a huge bummer when I get a flat and can't fix it myself despite trying, especially when it's 90 + degrees outside. As soon as I walked in the guy that helped me had a carefree and light attitude and kept that going the entire time he was fixing up my tires. I had a terrible experience with this "Shop". I purchased a titanium frame intending to build it up for a cruiser. I was away from town but took the owner's word that it was in good condition and upon my return to town picked up the bike in a rain storm with the family in the car. Got home and hung the frame until the weather warmed up. When the weather turned to bike season I took the bike down and started to prepare to build it up. After close inspection I discovered some damage to the non drive chain stay that I hadn't noticed before so I reached out to the owner about the issue. I didn't ask for anything, rather just wanted to get his thoughts on how to handle it. Unfortunately, his response was to lie, deny and accuse me of damaging the frame, or even more preposterously, swapping the frame for a damaged one. This is a 90's frame- not many of which exist. I confirmed his intention was to not support the sale and he confirmed, he wasn't going to do anything about the situation. Didn't even have the decency to discuss the matter. The bottom line is that the value of a shop is the service they provide, before, during and after the sale. I would encourage you to consider my experience and would warn against buying anything from this shop- new or used. Find another place to spend your hard earned money that will stand behind their sales and customers read more
