I don't want to make this a long review so here we go. So my mom and I came in here at around 5. The lady said they were booked and to come around 7:30. We thought it was a bit sketchy because they close at 8. So 7:30 hits and we're here. The guy who does manicures saw me almost immediately, the lady who does pedicures. saw my mom almost immediately. The guy took his time and kept asking me if I was ok and if he was hurting me. He made sure I liked the nail color. He did a good job on my nails. The lady made sure my moms toes were just how she wanted it. She told my mom how to take care of her toes which is pretty cool. It's only just the two and it does get busy and you may have to wait a while. But they make sure you're satisfied with their service. They also give you bottled water. I LOVE thins place. The owners are very sweet and caring. I am in love with the gel powder. It holds up very well and it looks great. I'm a nurse practitioner so I have to look professional. The gel powder po is the way to go. Post COVID19 Return. The staff has taken extra precautions to keep their clients safe. They have installed clear barriers to allow for socializing but still have social distance. They sanitize everything and have client wash and sanitize their hands as soon as they enter. I came for a pedicure. I have never in my life (I'm 52) had a pedicure like this. I found out more about my feet than I had ever known. I left knowing I had some toe fungus that I was never told before. I now know how to take care of my feet, that I stand on all day every day. I did not get any color because of the fungus, no massage, no fancy smelling additive to the soak. But I tell you I was there 2 hours to get my toes cleaned up, my nails on their way to be healed, and an education to take care of them at home. This lady, Ann, means business in a no nonsense kind of way. She took her time and explained what she was doing and why. Nothing hurt and my toes were not sore when I put my shoes back on. I happened upon them because their hours were later than other places. It is only Ann and her husband, they do turn people away when they are busy. They do lock the door later in the evening to keep out riff raff and be able to focus on their clients. They strongly urge you to make an appointment. I felt safe, educated and pampered. read more

Came in here on Easter Sunday after making a random decision to get my nails done... one of the best decisions in a long time. Blue Jay nails is owned by an incredibly sweet couple who make their top priority the HEALTH of your nails. As others have mentioned, Anh and Sinh take their time with you and explain in detail the condition of your nails and the steps you need to do to keep them in top condition. I brought my Mom in after she had beeing going to different salons who had messed her nails up. In the end, her nail had to be pulled and my Mom was pretty much devasted. After a year of not getting her nails done, we came to Blue Jay Nails after my first experience and my Mom's nails already look 300% better. Anh has walked my mom through a process to get her nails back in shape and took the time to explain to her the condition of her nails. I will never return to this place. This is for me personally so take this review as you want. I am hoping the owner and his rude wife will read this. I have a regular nail shop that I go to on Mondays, but I couldn't make the appointment that Monday and I saw this place was open on a Sunday. Talked the hubby into going with me for a pedi. I got a mani and pedi. The shape of my nails were on point, but unfortunately that's the only compliment I can give. I always get gel on my nails and toenails, when he was painting my nails he kept getting the polish on the side of nail/finger and even though he used the brush o clean it off I was left with some polish still there. Even a coworker noticed when I talked to her about my experience. Literally 2 days after my visit my thumb nail polish started peeling off on the side (not even lying!) and that was with gel!!! No lotion afterwards, nothing special at all Onto the pedicure... ‍‍ this lady was rude and insulting!!! She cut my toenails way too short because "they are supposed to match up with quick of your skin" first off... it's my CHOICE to have them as long or as short as I want them, she wasn't having it and cut them short anyway. I always get gel on my toes too and she refused to use gel and said it was a waste of my money and her color will last 2 weeks without the gel and she acted like she was doing me a favor. The color lasted a week before it started chipping. I play sand volleyball and go to the beach a lot and the sand scraps off the color, but at that point I was like whatever I just wanted to go. She complained about the skin on the side of my toes and practically insulted my tech that has been doing my pedicure for almost 2 years. There was no lotion, no massage and when my water started getting cold I asked her to warm it up and she flat out told me no!! Honestly, it took everything I had not to kick her in the face while she was working on my toes. My blood was boiling and my husband kept giving me "the look" like oh no don't do it. Now... onto my eyebrow waxing. She did a pretty good job I will admit, but she was not quick when it came to ripping off the strip. Almost like she did it on purpose AND when walking into the room she literally asked me "what's wrong with your eyebrows?" Ummmm? Excuse me? Then she complained about the shape of them and told me whoever has been doing them they don't look good. I can't even make this up... I will never be back and I hope other people have or had a better experience but for me and my husband it's hard no. I will stick to Regal Nail where it is a little more expensive, but they pamper you with scrubs, lotions, hot towels, hot stone massages, hand gloves and wine and certainly do not insult other shops or techs. read more

When I walked in the woman, I'm assuming Emily, said there was no nail tech scheduled today to do acrylic. I will never be back. I had such high hopes for this place but I wish I would've went somewhere else. The two people that work here are nice people but they up-charge and the work they do it not worth what they charge. I made an appointment for 5:30. I got there at 5:30 was told to wait outside for 5 minutes because the other person was finishing up, understandable, then I was brought in. The lady was sweet but seemed like she was rushing. She did a lot of talking to make me think I was with knowledgeable professionals and was told she was going to do something special for my pinky toe which is a tiny nail that I have. So she told me it would be $35. $5 for the something special.. regardless of the extra $5 this is NOT a $30 worth pedicure! She didn't even massage my feet! The main reason I wanted to even get a pedi was for the massage that's apparently not included? Anyways, I had my feet in the water for about 6 or 7 minutes before she asked me if I had cash, I told her I was using a card and she told me I had to go to the ATM to get money because their card machine isn't working. This would have been good information to have hours before when I called and made the appointment, the 5 minutes I was outside waiting or before I had my feet in the water. This is when I wanted to leave but it was already getting late so I decided to just stick them out because they seemed like nice people. She does my feet and she try's to paint on my pinky toes skin to make it look like my tiny nail was bigger.. that didn't feel special it felt silly. I asked her to remove it and just put the paint on the nail please.. multiple times. She even painted on the cuticle of the rest of my toes.. I asked her to please clean it up and she said she didn't know I didn't like it that because some people like it that way. I was getting more and more frustrated with how my feet were looking. I honestly felt duped because she will talk to you about your nails on things that I felt were common knowledge but I guess to someone else it would seem like wow, they really care about my feet. I just wanted them to look nice which I didn't get. I left the chair not having them cleaned up like how I like but I stopped asking her because I saw she had someone else waiting outside and I felt like both of our time was being wasted. Me wanting something and her not being able to provide. Then the guy who I'd been waiting on finally does my nails.. he's nice but the job wasn't good either. They do a lot of painting over the skin and doing the clean up later but maybe he didn't want to work as hard on my hands because I asked him why I was getting charged $5 for my pedicure.. he doesn't even know so he asks the lady and she seems mad that I'm asking which is understandable but again, I'm feeling duped in this situation for what I got. I've never paid $30 for a REGULAR pedicure had it look like this and NOT have my feet massaged too. Anyways, the guy does an okay job.. his clean up is just as bad as hers and my nail is already peeling but I'm not going back there at all. I paid $65 for a gel mani and regular pedicure. And no, I did not tip which I've never done but I was fed up with the whole thing.. ALSO again, my appointment was at 5:30, I did not leave till 8:20. Do what you will with this information. Side note: Like I said the guy was nice and took the $5 off which she apparently charged for me coming in with a fake toe nail on my big toe with is just a layer of acrylic that you can file like a regular nail..still paid $65. AND after using a bunch of acetone on my nails to get the extra polish off I wasn't given moisturizer to be put on my hands.. he expected me to walk out with my cuticles dried up. Absolutely terrible experience and I didn't even get my nails done! I decided to try a new salon... Walked in 20 minutes after they opened; there were 2 clients and 2 people working. When I walked up, the door was open for a breeze and it Seemed very welcoming. I walked inside and he asked how he could help, and I said that I needed a full set. He started laughing and said "I am way too busy right now. You can come back around 3 PM." I looked around and again, saw 2 clients and 2 workers. I said "ok thanks anyway" and he laughed again and closed the door behind me! Super rude and I would never go back! ATTENTION: This place has been taken over by a different owner. They are now Blue J Nails and they are absolutely amazing! They've been here since July 1st so disregard any reviews before that. I came in on a Saturday night at about 6:30, I picked this place after purchasing a Groupon and trying another place, whose hours were incorrect on Google, yelp, and Groupon and therefore was already closed. I was really frustrated so I cancelled the Groupon and searched yelp for a place close to where I already was and open later. I stumbled across Emilys nails which is now Blue J Nails. My nail technician was Anne and she was so completely wonderful! She talked to me the entire time and explained everything and made sure that everything was perfect for me! She spent an hour and a half on my feet getting them absolutely perfect and undoing all the damage that previous crappy salons had done. I had just got back from vacation in a very dry climate so my feet needed a pedicure so bad! She removed all of the dead skin from my heels and even used a special cream to get them baby soft again. She also spent a ton of time getting rid of all the ingrown dead skin around my toenails. My feet look and feel like brand new! Also Anne told me to call her anytime even if I'm running late and it's close to closing time. She had 20 years of experience and moved her nail salon from central Tampa to Brandon! I came in later for my appointment and was handed a water bottle and an assortment of colors to choose from. The owner called me by name and totally agreed and understood when I told him I needed to give my nails a break so I just needed a good manicure to fix them up a little.
