This day of July is always a special day for me (it's my 37th! ) and I enjoy a small solo dinner…read morefor those times I don't plan for it. I've passed this place by on my way to work and figured to stop by sometime; today was the perfect day because Victoria was the sweetest and super swift with her service! I sat at the bar to enjoy a small dinner and cocktail; ordered an Old Fashioned and received their signature one which was super tasty and done right! (thanks Victoria ) Managed to snag a photo of my salad as it was purchased with birthday money from a friend; got the Wedge (a la carte, no protein). Even though the produce is "weird" now, every bit of what happens for me next will be all worth it because that salad was delicious! It was one of the best wedge salads I've had in a long while... almost got the soup of the day because French Onion is my favorite but I had some places to be thereafter and "toilet conspiracies caused by produce" was not in my bingo card for my special day For my first time, it was a wonderful experience and service as top tier even though business was a bit slow. Take advantage of this though, because the food from what I've seen looks DELICIOUS Thanks Victoria See you soon!

To be a chain, Ovation Bistro in Davenport FL looks like a good time. Our server was Alex and she was doing everything by herself. Tending bar, serving and busing tables. She was a whirlwind. It is in a strip mall with plenty of parking. You enter through the covered patio area, which on a florida day when it was 97 outside it felt cooler on the patio. We ate inside. When you enter, the bar is to the left and the dining area is on the right. There are both booths and tables in the dining area. And high tops in the bar, besides the bar stool. Ordered a craft beer from 3 Sisters in St. Pete. It was good. For lunch we had the sirloin lunch special and brisket wedge salad. The food was not good. It was bad. And in their defense, maybe they were having an off day or maybe their lunch specials are left overs. The brisket was dry and way past it's prime. I sent it back and they brought me back more dry brisket which I guess they soaked in something, but you could tell it was way over cooked and past it's prime. The sirloin steak was not much better and the mash potatoes were at best luke warm. This was very disappointing. Especially after seeing some of the reviews. Suffice to say, this outing was definitely a one star for the food and four stars for the service along with the ambiance. I hate to hurl insults, but whoever is in their kitchen has either lost their passion or they just don't care. Best part of the meal was the wedge salad which was deliscious. The manager did come talk to us and did not charge us. The experience was still disappointing. My expectation did not meet my experience at Ovation Bistro in Davenport Florida.

This location is on our way to home when we leave from work…read more Craving wings this day and looked online at the menu and decided to order the 10 pc bone in traditional wings with choice of fries or veg with drink for $16 ish. The flavors I opted for were Hot Honey Rub and Lemon Pepper. The fries here are long LOL They were seasoned and were placed in a basket with no lid - under grease paper. The fries were good. You get a good amount for the meal portion. The wings you can request MAX 1/2 flats with NO CHARGE otherwise you will get charge if you go pass that quantity. The Hot Honey Rub - This was actually not as spicy as I thought it would be. These were delicious. Tad sweetness from the honey. I just wished it was a sauce moreso than a "rub" on the wings. I would order this again. Lemon Pepper - I was not impressed. Barely taste the true flavors of the "true" lemon pepper that I am used to. I would not get these again unless I am craving this rub. The chicken wings were not dry and were not bad. I have had better wings but these again are not bad. Customer service was ehhh the cashier had a challenge understand / comprehending orders. But she got it cause my order is what I wanted 5 flats - 3 on lemon pepper and 2 on hot honey. The rest were drumettes. I like this location because I was traumatized eating at East Colonial wing spot where my experience there was omg awful! The food was a blasphemy!!

Family members that ate the fish said it was delicious and cooked just right. The chicken wasn't bad, the beef taste better to me though. They're still giving away the 10% discount as of today so that's a plus. Four meals altogether $24 bucks, not bad at all. Will be back again to trying another set of sauced wings and the gyro.

I walked into Slim Chickens with dangerous levels of optimism…read more Big mistake. Before going, I watched a video on their website where the founders were talking about how, when they came up with the concept, they noticed other chicken tender places in the South "weren't doing it right." Now, they didn't say Raising Cane's by name, but come on. We all know who they were side eyeing. And as lifelong Cane's lovers, that got my attention. Because if you're going to throw shade at Cane's, the food better come out swinging. It did not! It came out dry, bland, and exhausted, with a texture that somehow managed to be overcooked and underwhelming at the exact same time. I didn't know you could ruin a chicken tender. I thought chicken tenders were one of those foods with a built-in safety net. Apparently not. Slim Chickens found the trap door. Then came the sauces. I asked the cashier what sauces he recommended since it was our first time. His response was basically, "I don't really like the sauces." That should have been my cue to turn around and go find literally anything else to eat. I tried the Slim's Sauce, which he described as ketchup and mayo with some herbs. That description was unfortunately accurate. It tasted like someone tried to reverse-engineer a good chicken sauce from memory while trapped in a break room. It was flat, boring, and nowhere near the level of Cane's sauce or even KFC's sauces. The garlic toast was another crime scene. Thin, wrinkled, cold Texas toast that looked like it had been toasted earlier that morning and then left to think about its choices. Calling it "garlic bread" feels generous. Calling it "bread" was already a stretch. The fries were those fake "hand-cut" freezer-section fries with the skin left on, like they're trying to convince you somebody in the kitchen actually touched an actual potato that morning. They were hard, overcooked, and tasted like they had been holding on for dear life under a heat lamp since opening. Not rustic. Not fresh. Just sad fries wearing a costume. And the atmosphere? Weekday lunch in Celebration, and there were maybe two people eating inside. That should have told me everything. A chicken tender place at lunch should have some life to it. This felt like a franchise location already rehearsing its goodbye speech. The funniest part is Yelp has this place sitting around 4 stars, but when you actually scroll through the reviews, there's a suspicious little cluster of glowing 5-star posts from "Elite" Yelpers around the same time. Maybe they all just happened to have the best chicken experience of their lives in the same week. Maybe.... All I know is what we were served was nowhere close to 5 stars. It was barely close to lunch. If the founders really built this concept because they thought other chicken places were "doing it wrong," I have some bad news: Raising Cane's can sleep peacefully tonight. KFC too. Slim Chickens didn't reinvent chicken tenders. They reminded me how badly simple food can go when nobody in the building seems excited about it. With Cane's expanding all over the place, this location better figure something out fast. Because if this is the product, I don't see Celebration celebrating it for long. I'm giving two stars, and honestly, those stars goes to the cashier for telling me he doesn't really like the sauces. That was the most helpful and accurate thing served to me all day.

4 Corners Tavern - ChampionsGate…read more We hadn't been to 4 Corners Tavern in years. Located in the ChampionsGate shopping area, a friend recently raved about the food, so we decided it was time to give it another try. Our server, Nick, was friendly, personable, and helped us with our menu selections. I was excited to see the lunch special was a Chopped Cheese sandwich. Being from New York, I've really missed a good chopped cheese and have been craving one for quite some time. The sandwich came with a choice of side, and I chose the French fries. While it was a decent sandwich, it just wasn't an authentic New York chopped cheese. The lettuce wasn't chopped but simply placed on top, and it was missing the chopped tomatoes and onions that help make the sandwich so special. It was served on a hoagie roll, but the it wasn't smashed together the way I'm used to seeing in New York. My husband ordered the Brisket Dipper, which also came with a choice of side. He selected the soup of the day, a beef and rice soup. The sandwich was served with an au jus dipping sauce and was good, but not memorable. In fact, we both agreed the brisket at our local Ovation Bistro & Bar is much more flavorful. The soup arrived as essentially a cup of shredded beef in broth, and the rice had accidentally been left out. The server quickly brought it over afterwards. When I spotted bread pudding on the dessert menu, I couldn't resist ordering one of my all-time favorite desserts. Unfortunately, it was another disappointment. The bread pudding was very dense, covered with large dollops of whipped topping, and didn't taste particularly fresh. Overall, while the service was friendly and attentive, the food simply didn't live up to the recommendation we had received. With more than a dozen restaurants nearby offering excellent dining options, this isn't one we'd return to. If you're dining in the ChampionsGate area, I'd recommend spending your money at one of the many better choices nearby.

The whole experience was not. This was a refreshing experience. They have been open for a short time and this was my first opportunity to stop in. The store was clean, employees were friendly and helpful, and the food was excellent. I walked in around lunchtime and was directed to the back of the store where the line started for ordering. They have a big menu board which I read first to determine what to get. The Cubano sounded good so I decided to give it a try. There were two choices for bread where they started the sandwich and put it in the oven. I was directed to the next station for all the toppings. I had a moment and chatted with the two employees that were there, and the one at the register asked what I got and if I would be having a drink or anything else. I told them I would take a meal which consisted of the sandwich, a drink and chips. On my sandwich came out they asked how I wanted it and directed me to assign that showed all the topics available. I opted for mustard and added hot peppers. I was very impressed with the taste of the sandwich and the hot peppers added a nice touch that you don't normally get on a Cuban. I will definitely be trying this one again in the future. They have several tables to dine at and there are accessible spaces out front. They have a drink station where you would get your own drink. If you're looking for a good hot sandwich, this is a great choice to have in this shopping area.
