A cleaner part of the trail gives you an idea of the nice pavement.

Avon Town Hall Park is an 83-acre park established in 2002 in Avon, Indiana, a small suburb of Indy located just inside Hendricks County on the westside. Being right next to Avon's somewhat newer town hall, this park definitely goes all out with amenities - an 18-hole disc golf course (elevation issues for those with disabilities), a Bocce court, three bodies of water (9-acre Town Hall Park Lake, a small pond to the east of the lake, and 3-acre Sycamore Lake), paved trails, picnic tables, ping pong tables, playgrounds, restrooms, shelters, AND the only free, public outdoor radio control race track in Hendricks County! The bocce ball court is located along the path connecting the park to the Kroger Shopping area. NOTE: Balls are not provided. Take your own balls. (He says with a slightly naughty grin). Fishing is allowed, however, Avon Town Hall Lakes are catch and release only and do require a state fishing license. No nets are allowed. Swimming, wading, ice fishing, and ice skating are not allowed on the ponds. The "200 Years" sculpture was commissioned or the bicentennial. If you know my work on children's issues, you can probably guess that I would appreciate the park's "Angel of Hope" memorial dedicated to parents who have lost children. It's a memorial I find myself visiting any time I'm in Avon (which is less often these days as I'm down to one surviving family member, but most of my family lived in Putnam County just west). I do find that sometimes Avon can be a bit slow to clear brush from the trails, a fact that can be difficult for wheelchair users. However, for the most part I'd easily call the trails wheelchair friendly. I'd just be more careful during Fall and Winter months especially. Parking is super easy here, shelters can be rented, and the playground areas are always kept clean. Avon is a lovely little community and this park really reflects the pride they take in their community.

    Large soft shell.

The worst fishing spot to date. The pond at the fishing dock is loaded with turtles. We caught 4 turtles. A soft shell, a snapper, and 2 box turtles. No matter what you put out; pack Bates, worms, or hot dogs. They are everywhere. There are some fish but too much a risk of catching a turtle and then the fight to get it off the hook with getting bite or them injured. Town needs to clean up the pond to make it safe for fishing with your kids.

Always a great spot to get out and walk. Lots of benches to sit and enjoy. Fun play equipment for the kids too. Good parking.

Such a great park in Hendricks County! The park is open and has an actual swing set/kids area. The park has trails throughout. Some of the trails go through the woods and the other trails go through the open area of the park. There is a lot of area for those who like disc golf. The park has the goals or post for disc golf. You can fish in the multiple ponds if you have your fishing license. Great family area!

Beautiful park right off Rockville road (us36) with covered shelters and huge playground for kids of all ages! It was drizzling when we came today but there were plenty of places to hide from the sprinkle. A great park with a lot to do and walking trails. will definitely come again!

Behind the town hall in Avon, there is a beautiful park with lots of open space for hiking and disc golf. To the east of the town hall is a playground, a remote control car course (bring your own), a pair of outdoor ping pong tables, and a twin set of shelters. Behind the town hall is a large pond that allows fishing and makes for a pleasant view while hiking around it. The pond also has a couple art pieces along the trail. "200 Years" was commissioned for the Bicentennial while "Angel of Hope" is a secluded monument area for parents who have lost children. Behind the pond is a huge disc golf area that has quite a bit of elevation to it. There is plenty of space on the east and west wings of the park that are great for hiking too. Overall, it is a well maintained park with plenty of parking at the front and easy access from US 36. Review #724

This is a fantastic park. My wife and I go here frequently to walk our newborn son. The paved trails make it simple to walk and they have enough trails that you can take about an hour to walk all the way around. They also have an awesome disk golf course setup, and a really nice pond they seem to be a great place to fish. This is one of the best parks they we've visited on the west side. If you have the chance, make sure to stop in and check it out!

The Avon Town Hall Disc Golf Course is one of the nicest on which I've played. The course is very well maintained with cement tee pads, professional baskets and clear signs describing each hole and directing you to the next tee. A few of the tee pads are marked on the cement walking trail, but they're not hard to find. Some of the tee pads could be a bit longer, but I didn't have much problem teeing off. The front nine is mostly out in the open. Sometimes there are holes down one side of the fairway or the other. And most holes have at least a few trees around them. If you're a beginner, length it the primary driver of difficulty on these holes. A number of holes in the back 9 take you into the woods and that's where you find some very narrow throws through heavy trees. It offers a lot of creativity as most of the holes end up being shorter. Much of the course is around the walking trail and some playgrounds, so you need to be aware of your surroundings. The entire park is beautiful with a lake, multiple playgrounds, ping pong tables, and an RC car track. It's an exceptional park and the disc golf course is a lot of fun.

Paved walking trails around scenic woods rivers pounds and hills of plush greenery. Walk from the Town Hall to the city library, enjoy fishing, frisbee, hiking, running all in safety with the police station adjacent to the entrance. Park area includes plenty of maps of trails and even an outdoor ping pong table area.

Gibbs Memorial Park is a Hendricks County Park with an official address in Danville, though the park itself is considered to be in Avon. One of Hendricks County's newer parks, it offers two fishing ponds, nature trails, a disc golf course, and a playground among other features. The feature that attracted my attention is the recent addition of a fully accessible, ADA compliant fishing dock on the park's smaller lake. This dock was paid for in part by a federal Land & Water Conservation Fund grant and is part of a larger project at the park to improve ADA-accessibility and park security. The park is open from dawn to dusk daily, and admission to the park and the 18-hole disc golf course within it is free. In addition to checking out the new dock, I checked out the park itself. The park features: 70 acres of woods, prairie, ephemeral creek, and ponds. Over 2 miles of well-marked trails (gravel and natural surfaces). Two ponds totaling 5.5 acres stocked with bass, redear sunfish, bluegill, and channel catfish. ADA-accessible fishing dock Nature-themed playgrounds for 5-to-12-year-olds and for 2-to-5-year-olds. ADA-accessible concrete walkways from paved parking lots to pavilions. 30-foot-tall observation/sledding hill. Picnic areas. Green space. There are two pavilions that can be rented, both ADA accessible. There's no fee to fish the ponds; properly licensed anglers may keep what they catch as long as all Indiana fishing laws and regulations are being followed. This is an absolute gem of a park and I'm so excited to see that they're taking accessibility so seriously. If you're in Hendricks County or on Indy's far westside, this park is worth the trip.

As of August 2025, there is an all-new playground in the center of the park, a splash pad, new picnic shelters, a huge parking lot and a comfort station. This is in addition to the other features that currently exist on the 120 acres of the park: a family recreation center, an outdoor basketball complex, walking trails, an 18-hole disk golf course, a mountain bike course and another smaller, older playground. The new playground at Washington Park is super fun for kids of all ages. There's an area made for kids ages 5-12, with a big play structure that has multiple slides, ropes courses and lots of things to climb. There's also a play area for toddlers, with a mini slide and a pint-sized play structure. There are also musical instruments, a teeter-totter, swings (including accessible swings) and cement creatures like turtles and salamanders you can climb on top of and ride, if you want to! The splash pad at Washington Park is one of only two splash pads in the near east side of Indianapolis, so it is a much-needed feature in this part of Indy. (The only other splash pad is at Wes Montgomery Park.) It has multiple water features and a fun water slide. One of the best things about it is that there is actual shade around the splash pad! Shade is a scarce resource at playgrounds, oftentimes. I've only visited the new playground and splash pad, but I'm impressed with the updates that have been made to Washington Park! I hope to come back and explore more of the park sometime soon.

The larger and also fairly new play area in the rear near the dog park is also a winner. It's next to the water park, which is a bit of fun in the summer! As of now, there is currently a very large project that has been going or a while and has made parking here more difficult. I don't know what it' supposed to be, but progress is slow. When you drive up, first you notice a massive amount of green land with trees bordering the property. There's a 100 acres of land, so there's plenty of green space. Down the drive, there's a parking lot next to their main building. There's space for 30-40 cars, at the very least. Walking into the building, if you look to your right at sunset (when we arrived), you'll catch a brilliant sunset past the trees. It's a wonderful time to be in nature! Once you walk down the path and into the venue, allow your eyes to soak up the cozy warmth of the wooden walls, bar, and floor. This is a lovely place! Right when you walk in there is a bar to the right and then space for around 4-5 round tables and some counters/long table space for food. Keep walking and you'll have three amazing bathrooms to your left. I know, right? How strange is it to be in love with a venue's bathrooms, but you'll know when you see it. The bathroom doors are set to slide open along the wall, and are all made of re-purposed wood from a Brown County auction (thanks to one of the owners' family members explaining this to me!). The bathroom interiors are all bright colors and nothing is gender specific. Also, it's eco-friendly! The sink water fills up the toilet tanks and there are dozens of white towels & a laundry basket. There's a larger gathering place that can fit around 7-8 round tables in the next room, and past this is a door leading to the outside. They allow bonfires, woohoo! Beautiful. Also, the land is so far away from Bloomington and Indianapolis, that there's no light pollution ruining the night sky. On a clear night, there are dozens of sparkling stars. Camping may even be allowed (it was at this event) and there's plenty of space. They have space for disc golf as well. Overall, I loved the place. I hope to attend future events at this venue. This is a family-owned property and it's the perfect addition to the Nashville/southern Indiana community!
