In the basket was a 12-ounce bag of ground coffee from Maine's Katahdin Coffee Company. After a few cups, I realized I was drinking some of the very best coffee I ever had in my long coffee drinking life. It had been a very long time since we used ground coffee, because we converted to K Cups years ago (don't hassle me about the environment because we empty out and recycle all those plastic pods). We used one of those "make your own K Cup" plastic/mesh baskets that was banished to a kitchen cabinet for many years, scooped in a few spoonfuls of Katahdin and brewed it in our K Cup machine. My Katahdin coffee was a Medium/Dark variety known as "Baxter Blend". The flavor ran rings around everything else we have in the house. Yes, it was a zillion times better than what I normally drink. Katahdin is sold in quite a few Maine grocery stores and through their website. The website has offerings in 10-ounce, 12-ounce, and 2-lb bags, with choices of ground or whole bean across a few different flavors including Breakfast Blend, Breakfast Blend Decaf, Baxter Blend, French Roast, Maine Whoopie Pie, Hazelnut and Maine Blueberry Pie. Yes, we will be sending out a mail order as soon as we use up every last ground of coffee in that 12-ounce bag.

This place is a whole vibe. Sleek and coastal and somehow also whimsical, Little Wolf is a great space to have your morning recharge. They make their own variety of flavored syrups, ranging from the standard vanilla to a botanical blend called Bouquet. Most importantly, their beans are incredible. The Finca that they served in my drink was a tasty lighter roast, which enticed me to buy a bag (similar roast, not the same). This price is not very clear but it is $28 (out of sight out of mind, I guess). Of course great coffee requires great baristas. Looking forward to coming back!

We walked in and were greeted almost immediately by a very kind gentleman, he walked us through the process of getting k cups. You tell them what you want and they reach into the bins and collect them for you. The price is great, I can't speak for the bags of coffee, but the k cups are 60 cents each, which I think is a great deal! We were able to walk out with 20 k cups, at least 10 different flavors for cheaper than a 12 pack would be at the local grocery store for one flavor.

This year - again we hiked up (and down) Mount Roberts but this year it was H O T - so it was a no brainer where to head to for some caffine and cooling off. This year I met who I think was one of the owners who gave me the origin story (they are originally from VA) and told me that they have been open for a bit over 3 years. There was no cold brew in the cooler but this time it was a Nitro Cold Brew that was ordered and consumed before we made it back to our lodgings. I wish they were closer but it's good to know that they are "just down the road" from my yearly hiking venue.

The cinnamon bun is the size of a muffin- not the gigantic muffins but a standard muffin.
