Unexpected in the middle of a commercial/industrial neighborhood. Nice atmosphere inside and a full bar, not all the premium labels you might see elsewhere but definitely a nice set up. I had the brisket and pulled pork with mac & cheese and the coleslaw. Everything had really good flavor and the meat was tender. Standouts were the pork and the mac and cheese. The pork was tender with subtle smoke and the mac & cheese has a nice pungent cheesy taste - yum! I would say the slaw too as it has a nice dressing, but it's a little too rough chopped to be able to eat it comfortably and it doesn't allow for a better coating with the dressing to soften the bitterness of the cabbage. It's probably more visually appealing in the larger chop, but I would trade that for a nice fine grate. Lots to try on the menu so we will definitely be going back again! read more

Just had dinner here at this little gem with my husband. We were the first people to dine here for dinner shortly after 5:00pm so I was concerned when I didn't see any other diners on a Sat. night. We were greeted by who I believe was the owner and the sole waiter for the night. We were lucky in being the first diners since our order took a bit to come to our table. Soon after we came in another couple came in and then a huge group of 12. My concerns soon went away after we had our salad and our entrees were brought to us. Wowza! I had the delicious pulled pork plate with the Mac and cheese and corn muffins with blueberries. There was a generous serving of the pork and the Mac and cheese is the best I've had at any bbq restaurant and so much tastier than Lucille's Mac and cheese! The muffins were tasty although they were burned a little at the edges. My hubby had the Texas brisket and the same sides as I did and he said his food was delicious and he tends to be picky about his bbq. We will definitely be returning. The joint was situated in a industrial park and I heard from my friend that it was fairly good. In an area that's heavily influenced by asians its hard to find a good smoke / grill house so I made a beeline for the restaurant. The restaurant is pretty roomy with not a lot of tables and the bar area We ordered a full rack of ribs, smoked brisket and tri-tip. When we entered the restaurant there were a table of people only. We were served 35 minutes later. I didn't think the place was ready for people to eat there at night or something. Pro: The mash potato was smooth and tasty. The quantity of the meat was more than plenty. Cons: The meat wasn't flavorful thankfully it was sauced up, now if they smoked it....well I didn't taste the smokiness, if they grilled it, it wasn't juicy enough. We walked in and there was nobody to be seen. After a few moments, I patrolled around to inspect if there was anyone anywhere and I noticed a seemingly annoyed employee in the kitchen who then approached us and said "anywhere is fine." We have never been here before so deciphering that she meant "you can sit anywhere" was a bit confusing considering also we did not know where we could or couldn't sit. No "welcome," no "I'll be right with you," no "sorry for the delay..." just a bothered expression and "anywhere is fine." As we were ordering, her affect was unpleasant and she seemed impatient and irritated. As a whole, she was incredibly rude. We all have our bad days, ma'am. I understand. But the first impression is always the most important and we seem to have been at the wrong place and wrong time. It also would have helped if you introduced yourself. Definitely never going back. I just had the worst customer service from this restaurant, and I don't know why. The owner was hostile to me through the whole time for no reason. My banker friends who invited me there were so puzzled and embarrassed by her attitudes. I totally lost my appetite and left the food on the table. I left the place in a very bad taste. Worst experience ever. Didn't even have time to eat my food. My group got there a little bit before 7, had to be out by 8. Took 10mins to get seated, took 20mins for our order to be taken, took 20mins to get the food, at which time we had to leave already. No apology for the wait at all. Unbelievable. My review is based off of a few experiences at this spot and, to be blatantly honest, pure assumption. The vibe that I get from this place is very much that it is a small, privately owned and operated business, that specializes in one thing and one thing only... fabulous barbecue. I have always had the same waitress/bartender every time I visit, and she strikes me as not the smiley-hostess type. But that's perfectly okay, because she is a good server and is helpful with your questions. Most likely she is also an owner or partner (my assumption) who has to deal with the public and their snobbery towards waitresses (she is the only person I have seen serving). Now with the hard facts, and these are based on experience: if you can deal with not always being promptly and warmly greeted as though you are the Queen of Merry Old England, you will be treated to some of the best barbecue around. Do yourself a favor and don't get a salad. Splurge on the good stuff: ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and don't disregard the roasted chicken. The crab balls are a must, and all of the sides are very good. Not that the business wants my constructive criticism, but if it does: please hire more servers if possible. Also, please find a way to draw more traffic. Your food is good and deserves a following. read more

OMG the place was awe full, the Lady AKA Bartender was rude, maybe its just how she rolls. Its just not comfortable when you feel unwelcome. What set it off was the fact that I had a Groupon, her comment was " I figured it was a Groupon" Why doesn't Groupon screen these people before that sell their coupons, I'm pretty sure she didn't have that attitude when she got the money for the Groupon. Well anyways the Brisket wasn't too bad, my wife got the hamburger with fries but the woman brought her mash potatoes ummmm!! dare not complain, might I've been kicked out. Last night we went to Blue Fire Grill for the first time for dinner. We had bought a coupon book from some kids & this was one of the restaurants on it so we thought we'd check it out. We shared a full rack of ribs with an extra salad. Well let me start by saying the ribs were delicious! They surely do pick a fine cut. They had tons of meat on them, so much so that we even took home leftovers. We had a house salad & a caesar salad. The house salad was good but the caesar was excellent! We had a couple of mixed drinks that were definitely worth the price, good & strong! We ordered desert but haven't tried it yet because we just took it home. The coupon we had gave us a free desert. Not a huge selection on deserts though. Overall, great place However, our only qualm with the place was the split plate fee. They charge $6 for a split plate fee, which they do note on the menu. Somehow we missed it though. Let me tell you, we share often because we are not big eaters & I don't Ever recall paying this high of a fee! The waitress never told us & they actually never even split the plate or bring us an extra plate! The owner came out & never apologized for it but simply told us that was $2 cheaper than the going rate in OC. Well, I have lived in Chino for 25 years or so & last I recall this is not OC but rather the IE! Please don't compare IE prices to OC or Beverly Hills! We paid it, she never even offered to remove it. This is the reason for the lower stars. So in summary: Food was good, portions large, drinks good & strong, service by the owner was horrible! When my friend suggested this place...I was skeptical. I was even more skeptical when I pulled into the parking lot (if you're coming down schaefer ...slow down as soon as you pass benson, it's west of benson). It's in an industrial area so easy to miss among all the office buildings. I definitely felt out of place since as soon as i walked in everyone stared. It looks like there are a lot of locals here. The service here is very good...very much a make yourself at home place. It's relaxed and the food is delicious. Cocktails here are delicious and strong. They have a decent beer selection which was a pleasant surprise and wine as well. The three of us shared a sampler platter and still didn't finish. I highly recommend it. The portions are generous (to say the least) and their chicken is so soft and delicious. Usually it's ribs that stand out at a BBQ place but this place does something wonderful to their chicken. The whole point of a business going the Groupon, Living Social route is to attract new customers but they lost us after we finally used up our 'deal' from Living Social. We go in on a random night and walk in with the place DEAD empty and we expected to be seated but first asked if we could use the Social deal and were declined since it was "kareoke night." STRIKE ONE. Now I understand in the fine print from the deal it said something like "not valid on special events nights" but COME ON, there wasn't a soul in sight of the place and still refused us. STRIKE TWO. I called to make sure we could use our deal and were allowed to and walk in to yet another dead empty place. I don't even know how they make enough money to buy the toilet supplies to be honest. We got the brisket with mac and cheese, pulled pork with mac and cheese and full rack of ribs. Brisket and pulled pork was lathered in BBQ sauce and Ribs were dry and slapped the BBQ sauce on and not cooked long enough on low heat. Anyways, we've tried Joey's BBQ, Lucille's etc. and they were all mediocre. This place had the worst of them, but then again, I'm hard to please since one of my best friend's dad is a perennial BBQ Grand Champion and ranked 3rd in the nation. His BBQ is unlike any other BBQ I've ever tasted so I guess I will stick with his instead of going out to pay ridiculous amounts for mediocre BBQ. read more

This place delivered WAY beyond my expectations! I ordered the 2 meat platter (Pulled Pork & Brisket). The meal came with a decent house salad, and two side (I opted for the BBQ Beans and fries. This restaurant used to be known as Blake's Place, a no frills bbq pit serving excellent meats and side orders. It changed owners and is now a more formal restaurant called the Blue Fire Grill. I came to this place with my family, realizing as I walked through the door that we'd be paying for the new refurbishments that had been made since the change of ownership. But that's ok. A fancy and expensive bbq place that still serves good food can easily be dealt with. Not the case. My mom's plate was only luke warm and my beef brisket sandwich looked like it had been made with leftover gristle that was thrown between two buns. Where do I start... we were excited to try something new! It had been a while since we went out to eat as a family, so we decided to make Blue Fire Grill our dinner destination. We walked in, and were asked to sit wherever we'd like, which was fine.. helped ourselves to a highchair for the baby, and made ourselves comfortable. It was unclear who the server was upon walking in, but it turned out to be the really nice girl in sweats. Really nice! We ordered our drinks and food... water tasted like chlorine... maybe soap residue? We had the tri-tip (good, but 21$ good? I don't know.) hot wings- bomb, mashed potatoes- AWESOME, Mac n Cheese? Wow delicious. BBQ sauce is delectable. So where does it go bad? My burger :-( it was charred black. I'm not usually a complainer. I hardly ever send food back; in fact, my cousin was the one who brought it to the server's attention. She brought it back to the cook/chef.. commentary was made although I couldn't hear what was said, but she was probably offended which makes me feel bad- but I had a hard time choking down the burnt patties. A new burger was brought out, and it was definitely way better- but still flavorless, and you can tell they were frozen patties :-/ we just weren't impressed, and probably won't be returning. I would never have known this restaurant existed if it weren't for the website "Living Social." We live in the area, so we decided to buy the deal and check it out. All I have to say is YUM! If you're looking for EXCELLENT BBQ, then you've come to the right place! The portions are huge, the food was fantastic and the customer service was excellent. I learned about this restaurant via "Living Social" daily deals [similar to groupon] Being a fan of BBQ food the deal got my attention. I mentioned to my wife on a night we we pinching pennies that I had a voucher to a place in Chino, we decided to check it out along with our 20 year old daughter. Upon arriving I wasn't sure if we were in the right place, Blue Fire Grill is in an industrial area in between some commercial buildings [Do NOT let that deter you] When we walked in there was only two other patrons in the bar area... first thought was this is not a popular place [do NOT let that deter you] We were seated promptly, the server was very hospitable and friendly. I told we had a voucher and she took care of that right away. The only thing keep this review from a 5 is that the fountain drinks were flat, the staff tried changing syrup boxes and C02 bottles but it didn't help. They apologised and we were fine with water. We ordered a meal package for 4, thinking it's probably small portions since the prices were so much more reasonable than other BBQ joints we've eaten at. Also decided we'd probably need to order an extra rack of ribs which again was very reasonable, plus I'd already paid for most of the original meal with my $40 voucher. WOW, the portions were plentiful and the meat was tender and DELICIOUS. We also had mac & cheese and baked beans for sides, they were also yummy. Couldn't finish all the brisket and ribs so I had a great leftover lunch at work the next day. Very disappointed . I had been wanting BBQ ribs for days. My son and I were going to Lucille's and decided to give Bluefire a try. As soon as I walked in it felt odd, not like a Resturaunt but a bar with a few booths. The atmosphere was so bland. There was music playing but it sounded as it was coming from the kitchen. The hostess? Looked like she wanted to be there less than I did. As for the food... We both ordered the 1/2 rack rib dinner with two sides. Ribs did not taste freshly bbq'd but re-heated, Mac and cheese was good and my mashed potatoes which I had to wait for were cold. My sons bbq beans were good and his potatoes were good and hot. I took a chance with this place since there was mixed reviews. When I first walked in, the only worker that was in there was drinking a beer with another customer (WTF, it sounded like it was her friend). When she said hello, it sounded like she had been smoking since she was 5 years old, not flattering at all and not promising. She said "go ahead and pick a seat, as you can see we are not that very full" and laughed..... I ordered "The Burger" from the menu with a house salad w/ranch and fries. First came the house salad which the ranch tasted watered down and I found a chunk of blue cheese in it as well. Second, "The Burger" came without the fries. the waitress/bartender (beer drinker) said the cook forgot the fries and they are coming up.....WTF??? When she gave me the burger, she repeatedly was telling me in her smokers voice how good the burger looked, I get the point that you are trying to get me to like the burger that was burnt and very plain with a bun that tasted OLD. When I seen the cook, he looked like he bathed in sewer water from a water treatment plant. Obviously this place takes no pride in the way they run this business. I am really hoping to God that I do not get sick from this place. My only question was if their famous crab cakes sit in the freezer until someone orders them....? We may have been there in an off day or time, but we did not have the best experience. The waitress was very friendly, but the kitchen was very slow. It took forever for the food to come out - which seemed odd since we were the only customers who were eating (the rest were at the bar). The best thing we ate was the salad, very fresh veggies and full of flavor. Our group had the pulled pork, crab cakes, beans, and Mac n cheese. The pork was old and gamey, and drowned in sauce. The Mac n cheese was good, but the beans seemed to lack flavor other than black pepper. The crab cakes were not bad, but nothing spectacular. All in all this place was overpriced for the quality of food we received. They do give you very big portions, but I would rather have less of it and have it be better tasting. read more

Overpriced BBQ that's not even great! I ordered a double meat plate with pulled pork and tri tip. My pulled pork was good, but the tri tip was mostly fatty. The mac and cheese tasted good, but left a grainy taste in my mouth. No complaints about the mashed potatoes. Overall, I may go back and try the buffet, but would never go back for dinner and pay so much for their food. Too bad, I really do love me some BBQ. read more

One of the owners worked the bar and I was pleased to see a decent liquor and wine selection. The conversation with the owner was wonderful, she really new her stuff. Very polite and friendly service followed, we ordered the Crab cakes and the bbq brisket fries. The crab cakes were amazing. Best I've had out here on the west coast, real lump crab and no filler! Amazingly good! The Brisket fries were amazing as well, hearty and good. As if god himself said, lets turn these fries into something amazing. Some of the best brisket i've ever had. Owner is rude and food is mediocre. I have been here multiple times because I like that it is quite and you can carry on a conversation without yelling across the table, but that is because there is rarely more than a couple people in there at a time. The owner stands behind the bar and yells across the room if we would like something to drink. We said yes, can we see a menu. 10 minutes later, no menus and she yells across the room again asking if we have decided what we want. Apparently you have to order a drink to get a menu. 20 minutes later, finally a menu and 10 minutes later she took our order. Again, this place is not busy, there was no more than two other parties in the place. Any food that is fried, fries, onion rings, even hamburger buns are always burnt. As much as I like the idea of supporting a small, local business, this is the one to walk away from. read more
