Are used to work down in Kentwood and eat at the blue dragon restaurant almost weekly. Moved north of Grand Rapids years ago and hadn't been in a long time. Met a friend from my old work years in Kentwood for lunch at the blue Dragon in Caledonia and glad I did. They were just as delicious as ever and always some of the sweetest people you could meet. If I could give negative stars I would I just spent $25 on Mongolian beef and potstickers. I couldn't eat either. I'm not sure what that was, in fact the taste scared me so much I threw it away right away. The sauce for the potstickers was something I'd never tasted in my life. We've been eating here for several years now. Food is always amazing and a good portion is always given. We live 20 minutes away & don't mind the drive to pick up a wonderful meal. The owners and staff are wonderful, polite and professional. They're always a joy to see. Only sad thing to see is that they no longer offer dine in since Covid. Sadly as Caledonia's Asian restaurant, we cannot recommend this restaurant, we have had Asian food from South east Asia to Canada and this doesn't cut it. Maybe if they just ask their customers they may learn to fix it properly, but as of recent this wasn't the case Better Asian food can be found elsewhere, but not here. read more

If you ever wanted to know what knock off Chinese food would taste like, you have found the right place.

Currently this restaurant is only doing takeout, that's fine but this was the Worst Chinese food I have ever had. Ordered the chicken with broccoli, teriyaki chicken, and two egg rolls. The y had dumped the sauce all over my chicken, which was fried, so by they time I got it home, was soggy and unappetizing. Frying oil tasted old so I could only eat one bite of it before telling my husband it would make my sensitive stomach sick. My husband hated the sauce on his so bad he RINSED IT OFF HIS FOOD, then he could eat it. My husband hates wasting food so he ate it like a trooper, and even ate mine over the next two days. The egg rolls were the only decent part of the meal but they were definitely too salty. All of this cost us $40 and if it wasn't for the fact that I know someone who works there, I would have called and complained and asked for at least half of my money back. I never do that to restaurants, I know they live on thin margins but this was the worst restaurant food I have had in a long time. Save yourself the trouble and go to the Thai restaurant next door instead, they are so much better!!! read more

First time going there today and came away disappointed. The deep fried chicken dishes (sweet and sour and General chicken) tasted like the oil was old. The crab Rangoon didn't have any crab in it and was all cream cheese. Portions were a lot but unfortunately the quality was not very good. My wife had the Garden Shrimp and said it was very bland. The fried rice that I ordered instead of white was also very good you could tell it was made to order not just scooped out of a rice cooker. I hate to give this place a one star review, but here's the deal: My mom took me here a lot when I was younger. My sister and I would eat nothing but crab rangoon, rice, and egg drop soup. The soup was great, the crab rangoon -- AMAZING. When I got a little order, I started ordering things like Pepper Steak (green peppers and steak, delicious) and their Ginger Beef Stir fry. THAT was delicious, steak, ginger slices, bamboo shoots, snow peas and carrots. I would order a plate and have enough leftovers for lunch for two days. Over time, things started changing. The soup started to have carrots, peas and cabbage added. Not bad-- except they were frozen veggies. Little carrot chunks that turn to mush in your mouth. The crab rangoon lost some flavor. I think they switched to using imitation crab, and stopped seasoning it. The last time we went, it was with the regular group. My sister, mother, grandparents, and my then-boyfriend. My sister and my mom both ordered some chicken, my grandmother- shrimp, and my grandfather ordered some pork. The boyfriend was a picky eater--- so this one is entirely his fault-- but he ordered pepper steak with no sauce. Ew. Well, the chicken was okay. Not the best, but it tasted okay. The shrimp was awful in my opinion. Grandma ate it anyway, but to me it tasted the way an old folk's home smells. Yeah, that's definitely what I want to have for dinner. Grandpa sent back his pork because it wasn't fully cooked, and bland. He ended up asking for it to be replaced with the same cashew chicken my sister ordered. My food arrived after everyone else had a chance to be grossed out, the steak the boyfriend had was chewy and completely bland. When he told the waitress, she refused to take it back, saying "Well it's really better with the sauce." She stood there and watched him dip it in the sauce, chew it, and spit it out before she brought it back and gave him something else. I have never had service like that before. By the end of the night, we were all eating cashew chicken, apparently the only edible item on the menu. I've had better take-out, and I know I can make better myself. Next time someone suggests Blue Dragon, I'll save half the cash and make food myself. read more

My daughter and I went there for dinner. The Appetizer Platter was great. Our waitress was very nice. I ordered Hunan Chicken, it was tasteless and the chicken was chewy. My daughter ordered the Princess Chicken. It had an ok taste but it was not like it was before. We got our waitress's attention and let her know we wanted to order more food. She of course was mortified thinking we were upset. We made sure she knew we just ordered the wrong thing, we will take it home to be eaten, I will gladly pay for it. We just want to order new food. We order new food. Blue Dragon Chicken is what we both order. The waitress asks if it is to go and my daughter said no. She takes our other food and boxes it up for us and hands us the bill. Our new food comes all boxed up. The waitress asks if I am ready to take care of the bill. We left very disappointed and hungry. We had to go home and eat. I doubt we will go back. Is it good Chinese food? Well, no. But it's about as good as you're going to get in this area unless you want to drive up into Kentwood. The staff is usually fairly friendly at least. Very casual, small town vibe. The prices are a little high for the quality, but probably about average for Chinese food. The ingredients themselves seem decent, I'm just not convinced they really know what to do with them. It sort of seems like the McDonalds of Chinese food to me. Greasy fried food, oil probably not hot enough to cook quickly which leaves oily residue and sauces that tend to be thin and runny. The flavor is still close enough that I overlook it all, but I do hope for some improvement someday. read more

Went there with one of my kids for lunch. I ordered my usual that I get quite often to go which is almond chicken. A few bites in I taste almonds that are stale and soft. Then I taste some that are rancid! Ugh! So I tell the waitress who seemed new (not the usual lunch gal) and she says she will tell them about it. I get my bill and I'm paying for bad food. So I paid it and pretty much decided that they lost me as a customer over that. Don't quite understand the thought process of charging for spoiled food. This is, bar none, the worst Chinese restaurant to which I have ever been. The food was terrible. Mine was tasteless, bland, and served with cold sauce, while my wife's food seemed to be of about the same quality as something frozen and packaged at the grocery store. In addition, the atmosphere was less than stellar. There really isn't anything in the way of decoration and the last time I heard music like that, it was playing in the background of a nursing home commercial. The restaurant has an unusual smell when you walk in the door. Waitress was prompt and very nice. Hot and sour soup had nice flavor although the tofu was a mix of older dark and newer light pieces hinting that the soup may have been around a few days and just " refreshed" daily. Egg roll taste fold and from GFS. The cashew chicken with fried rice was delicious with crispy veg not over cooked. If you ever find yourself in the small town of Caledonia this is the best place for Chinese food. The interior is a little awkward with mirrors on the walls and it's very small so you can hear the conversations going on next to you. For dinner it does get pricey but for lunch it's very reasonable. You even get an egg roll and soup with every lunch order. We love their crab ragoons, Mongolian combination and sizzling rice soup. We normally do takeout and they can have your food ready in under 15 minutes. read more

Cute little place in a strip mall, nicely decorated. Food isn't bad. Egg rolls are meh, chicken lo-mein had lots of chicken, which is unusual these days, but they use big thick noodles. Beef and broccoli is good. Steamed dumplings were bland and dipping sauce for them was only soy sauce, very salty! Nice staff (one older lady up front) and I will go back to try other things. Personally I think the other place in Caledonia has better food, but they short you on the meat you should get in your meals... trying to save $ I suppose. read more

This restaurant was a rare find since I moved to Caledonia for five months ago it's so difficult to find a good Chinese restaurant. My first order when I called someone forgot to write it down. I went to pick up my food and it was not prepared yet but they only took 10 minutes to get it ready. I ordered steamed dumplings and they come six to an order and they were huge a lot bigger than most Chinese restaurants. Although they should be stuffed with more stuffing. The second time I ordered from them was two orders of steamed dumplings and they were fantastic. I ordered from them a third time and just last night, February 1, 2020. I ordered shrimp and broccoli and once again steam dumplings because I know they're fantastic. The shrimp and broccoli was excellent prepared with tons of shrimp in the dish. The restaurant itself is kind of small but takeout is so convenient and so quick. Thank you blue dragon! read more

We went there today 2/7, seated right away by a unhappy hostess. Received our drinks right away by the same unhappy hostess. Sat there 20 minutes watching the server go to other tables and no acknowledgement to us after 20 minutes. By the way only 6 other tables were occupied. 1 ours, 1 walked in right before us and was asked if they were ready to order but she was waiting for someone and the other 4 were done eating. Never have been here and never will go again and will tell others to not go. We did leave money for our drinks that we didn't finish. You would think a restaurant in a small town would want to have good service to grow the business.....not even a one star but it made me choose. read more

This is more of a take-out place. Although there are tables insides, it's never full thus making it kind of awkward to eat there. If I could rate this zero stars I would. I ordered Snow White Chicken (Moo Goo Gai Pan) and the meal came with egg drop soup and egg roll and fried rice. We also ordered crab Rangoon. The egg roll had the most dry pieces of chicken in it and flavorless. The Rangoon was full of cream cheese and maybe 2 or 3 flecks of something else. The fried rice was white. I've never seen white fried rice. Again, no flavor. The soup had a bunch of vegetables and egg, looked wonderful, yet the only thing that had taste were the peas. Then my meal came and yet again no flavor. I took a bite of mushroom and it was the nastiest most rancid, and musty and mushy. The waitress told me it's because it's portobello mushrooms. I'm sorry, I love mushrooms, all of them, I've never had that musty soggy nastiness ever. I spit it out it was so nasty. The waitress was awful, but was nice enough to take my food off the bill.
