Extremely disappointed with Blue Dot. About four years ago, I paid roughly $18,000 for a brand-new HVAC system expecting reliability and quality service. Instead, I've dealt with recurring issues over the years, including multiple problems within the last two weeks. Most recently, my AC stopped cooling properly during extremely hot weather. I scheduled service and was given a 2-6 PM arrival window for 5/20/26. No one showed up. I called multiple times that evening and was repeatedly told the issue was being "escalated" and that dispatch or management would contact me. No one ever did. I called again the this morning. The representative could see all prior escalations but could not explain why no technician showed up or why no supervisor contacted me. I was again promised service between 2-6 PM today. Again, no technician arrived. Meanwhile, my system began freezing over, with visible ice/frost on the indoor lines and outdoor unit. I ultimately had to shut the system down entirely to avoid possible further damage. I called once more and was told the local branch and management had already gone home for the evening, so no one could provide answers or assistance. At this point, this is heading into a third day with no service, no management follow-up, and no resolution. I understand HVAC companies get busy during extreme weather, but the lack of communication, accountability, and follow-through has been unacceptable, especially after investing so much money into a system that has had recurring problems since installation. read more

Update as of Jan 13 2025: I tried to contacting QA, and no answer. Ton of money was spent to get a boiler, and no help whatsoever to maintain it. When ask what to do, they literally told me to find another company to maintain it. When asked to do me one favor and shut the boiler down / lay it up, they said it would cost $700. What a joke! Our AC Unit went up on a very hot day and sent a technician out who told me it would be over $7K to fix the unit and since it was already old, he recommended replacement, and booked an appointment for his sales guy to come out. In parallel, we called another company for a quote and they checked the unit and it was only a faulty capacitor and was fixed that day for minimal cost. We called Blue Dot and asked to be refunded for the $139 technician service fee because he was either incompetent or lied (probably the latter) and even though they have a 100% money back guarantee listed on their website, they refused to refund the $139. Blue Dot Forest Hill Maryland installed a AO Smith commercial water heater in my townhouse 4 years ago and it just suddenly flooded my basement , it was literally leaking from the top and apparently the seal failed. They sent a guy here to look at it and I felt like I was dealing with a cheap car salesman. the price to replace the unit more than doubled and he seemed to have very little interest in helping me get the warranty covered. He recommended I call the manufacturer but he was more than happy to try to sell me 8,000 to 9,000 new units. I kept telling him we can't afford this and his recommendations just kept going higher. After 5 years of problems, frustration, and lack of customer service, I've had enough and feel it is my duty to warn others of this terrible company. To start with, after replacing all major systems and buying an annual plan, they never showed up when scheduled; it always had to be rescheduled due to emergency requests from other customers willing to pay emergency prices, which tells anyone that they want your money up front but are at their mercy once they have it. I first hired this service 5 years ago with their annual service, and every time they come out, they tried to upsell my 84-year-old mother on every system, equipment, and service, even though I told Blue Dot after every visit, DO NOT talk to my mother about anything, and yet they always did and tried to have her sign an estimate to start the service. After escalating my complaints and being told a manager would contact me, no one ever did. They are just a greedy corporation. After the last cancellation and reschedule after taking a day off from work, I fired them and asked them to cancel the auto-renewal in November. This was their representative's (Erin's) response: Unfortunately, we are unable to turn off the auto-renewal feature, so you must cancel the entire service. I have 5 months remaining on it, so I will lose that time. Quite the racket they have going. Had a sales rep at Home Depot convince me to do a heat pump service. They said they can come out the same day. On the day of the appointment they call to reschedule making the excuse that they're too busy. Ok no problem we rescheduled like two weeks in advance. Day of the second appointment I get a text the tech is on the way. Ok cool! Then ten minutes later I get a call telling me they're too busy and need to reschedule. I called them at 8:30 and was informed that a dispatcher would be notified and that I'd be called. The very next day I still hadn't received a phone call. I called them around 4:00 pm and requested a survey be sent to me. Roughly, seven minutes later I received a call asking if I still required assistance. If I could give this company negative stars, I would. Awful, Awful, Awful. My 80 year old neighbor's air handler stopped blowing. I went over and looked at it and I knew it was something with the blower motor. She called Blue Dot to come out to diagnosis the problem. They told her the motor was bad and quoted $4,100 to fix it. 4k to replace a fucking motor! She called me and I told her to get a second opinion because this seemed WAY TOO HIGH. Another company came out and was able to get the motor and system running without motor replacement and at a fraction of the cost Blue Dot quoted. The tech from Blue Dot tried to sell her a new system. He told her it would be more beneficial to replace her system instead of spending $4,100 to replace the motor since there's no guarantee that there wouldn't be additional problems. After she told him she was getting a second opinion and the tech left, the sales manager called her and tried to pressure her to buy a new system. Her system is 12 years old but worked flawlessly up until the blower motor failed. I feel this company is using predatory pricing to get people with older systems to purchase a new system. Instead of being honest with the pricing of the repair, they quoted her an astronomical price to manipulate her into buying a new system. 3 DAYS BACK TO BACK OF NO CALL NO SHOWS. I've scheduled three appointments; 05/20/26 (2pm-6pm), 05/21/26 (12pm-4pm), and 05/22/26 (8am-12pm) and the tech simply never shows up. No calls, no texts, NOTHING. They originally came on 05/11/2026 to fix an electrical error showing on my thermostat. Fast forward to 05/19/26 and the error message was back; the thermostat was not receiving power from the main HVAC unit. I called and they scheduled me in for the following day in the afternoon. I waited, received some texts that my appointment was still scheduled, but never a text confirming an exact arrival time. When I called to report that they didn't show up on 05/20, I was told that delays were experienced due to a thunder storm and that they could reschedule me for the next day, so I did. The following day, same thing; I waited and no one showed up. It did rain on that day, so maybe this business is unable to operate when it rains? I called again and was told there was no notes in the system as to why the tech never showed, they once again offered to reschedule me for the next day. This time it would be a "priority" appointment early in the morning. So I woke up and waited, and guess what? THEY DIDN'T SHOW UP. I finally had enough of waiting so after an entire day of waiting and hoping they might show up, I called and demanded to speak to a manager. The rep over the phone once again states there were no notes in the system as to why techs aren't showing up, they rescheduled me AGAIN for tomorrow, 05/23/26, 8am-12pm. Then I was told the manager would give me a call back in "a couple minutes". It's been over an hour and I have yet to receive a call. SHOCKER. OH! The cherry on top is that I agreed to sign up for their monthly membership during their original visit on 05/11, which the tech stated held two free yearly maintenance checks, priority appointments, and discounts on parts/services. So after paying them $12k for an HVAC system and signing up for their membership THEY CAN'T BOTHER TO SHOW UP. Save your time and money and please go elsewhere. read more

Avoid! Because you will never get the service! Maybe HVAC maintenance service is too little for them. First appointment on Jan 21 2026, they moved to Jan 29 (8am to noon). They said they did not service Delaware on Wednesday and that was a scheduling issue. On Jan 28, they texted me to confirm the appointment. I moved my schedule to accommodate the service window (4 hrs window). They moved the appointment on their own to Feb 5 after waiting for half an hour. I could not do it on the Feb 5. So rescheduled to Feb 2 (2-6 pm) BASED ON the time windows they provided. Again, I moved around my work schedule to make that 4 hours window open. You would assume that should mean something. They texted me to confirm on Feb 1. Then after waiting 40 mins on Feb 2, they moved the appointment on their own will to Feb 5 again with the same time window that I couldn't make it. Called them to move it and made them aware that this customer has been moved multiple times (even with the time windows that they provided). They provided Feb 9 with several time windows (basically the whole day. Actually, they gave you the whole day to choose from all the time). Make therm to confirm that these are REAL time windows (not those overbook it and see who can go type of windows). I chose the 8am to noon again to make sure that the first appointment wouldn't be affected. Told them that this customer has been moved multiple times and there weren't much wiggle room for any services if they kept moving. Texted you to confirm appointment on Feb 8. After 1.5 hrs waiting on Feb 9, they MOVED THE APPOINTMENT on their own again! I understand the demand for heating services should be super high in this cold beginning of 2026. I am not asking for the sky to rush any orders. I selected the service time windows BASED ON what they provided, so that I moved my schedule around (free up for 4 hours!!). I have particularly asked them to put down the notes on how many times my appointments have been moved. So just do not move this one again. If your business is busy, just block out the time window! Leave the real available time windows for selection and honor the agreement! I do not think honoring the agreed service time should be an issue raised by a customer at all when you run any business. read more

Eventually I called to cancel but wanted to know what it would mean to cancel (penalties, ect.), the call center told them I wanted to cancel, so they canceled and charged me a penalty. I rarely write reviews, but I feel obligated to warn others. My experience with Blue Dot has been beyond frustrating. They are essentially holding our money hostage for a repair we no longer want, and communication has been non-existent. We paid for a diagnostic visit and agreed to move forward with a repair. The technician said it would be 3-5 business days for install. Since we were using Blue Dot as a second opinion due to the other company saying the part is back order until late August, I called to request a status update. Was repeatedly told id hear back in 24 hours but never received a response. I requested to speak with a manager twice, again, no follow-up. Then my husband tried calling as well and customer service said they "couldn't" reach anyone in parts, management, or billing. When he finally told the rep that we'd be reporting the charge as fraud to our bank, suddenly a manager called me to say the part "should" be in the next day... which was a holiday but no idea when it could be installed. By this point, we'd lost all trust in the company. We didn't want them to perform the repair, we just want our money back minus the diagnostic fee. I was told by the manager last week that the refund would be processed within 3-4 weeks (never have I heard of a refund take this long!) and that I'd receive written confirmation after I pushed for it. It's now days later and I've received nothing from her. Blue Dot advertises a "100% satisfaction guarantee" and claims they'll refund your money if they can't meet expectations. But when it came time to follow through, they vanished. No one should have to fight and chase down a company just to get their own money back for a service that was never completed. We will be moving forward with a charge dispute and filing complaints with the BBB and Maryland Attorney General if we do not hear back in a timely manner. Absolutely horrible experience with Blue Dot. My mother's boiler (that Blue Dot installed two years ago) broke on Thanksgiving morning and Blue Dot's skeleton staff didn't include a single person who could work on a boiler. We were told someone could come out the following day, Friday 11/28. That technician said a part had to be ordered and it would arrive on Tuesday 12/2 or Wednesday 12/3. The part did arrive on Wednesday -- yet Blue Dot couldn't send anyone to install it because the ONE person on staff who can work on boilers was out of the office Wednesday and Thursday. We were promised a technician would be at my mother's house first thing Friday morning. Instead, he showed up at 2:20 PM. To make matters worse, he STILL couldn't fix the boiler because there was another part he didn't have. My mother has now been without heat for over a week, and Blue Dot's only "solution" was to offer space heaters. That is completely unacceptable. Most of the customer service and resolution specialists I spoke with were unhelpful, dismissive, and in several cases rude and unprofessional -- with the sole exception of Salie, who was wonderful. It is now day NINE and my mother still does NOT have heat. This is by far the worst service experience I have ever dealt with. Poor staffing, broken promises, zero accountability, and total disregard for a vulnerable customer without heat in the winter. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. read more

I was in Home Depot and one of the associates told me about a deal they had for a 2999 AC through blue dot. So I figured I would give them a try to schedule the service on a Tuesday with a window from 8 AM to 12 noon. 1215 I still have not had arrive at my home. When I called that he said, the technician was about 45 minutes away, not a very good start since I have taken half a day at work off and expected to be done and able to go in for the afternoon. So I had to end up taking an entire day off of work. The tech finally arrived at 1:33 pm. He was quick inspecting my system. Told me what I knew that my system was old and kept convincing me to just replace it even though it was still functioning. Kept pressuring me to se up an appointment for a free estimate Got $29.99 worth of service, so can't complain. I wasn't in the mood to really listen to anything he had to say after he ruined my day by arriving more that a hour and an half late. I've been using blue dot for nearly 15 years with no issues until recently, but the issues have been a doozy. Over the summer I was told my AC unit was near end of life. Given the age of the unit, totally believable. I indicated I'd be open to a quote to replace the unit. The salesman who came out to give me the quote was beyond pushy. Very unprofessional. Now I had them out for my regular winter maintenance. The tech who came out indicated my furnace was putting out carbon monoxide and shut my unit down. Thankfully I called for a second opinion. Not sure if his equipment was faulty or he was deliberately trying to screw me into buying a new furnace hoping I wouldn't bother with a second opinion. Either way, fool me twice, shame on me. At 5:45 pm a rep called and indicated they would not make it out today. They said I could reschedule - next available appointment - Monday. During the last major snowstorm our furnace stopped working consistently. We are 78 and 76 years old and Blue Dot installed another Carrier HVAC system about 12 years ago. We had another contract with Bue Dot Services in Forest Hill, Maryland for annual maintenance of our HVAC equipment. We called to have them review the equipment. This was the first week of February 2026. After two visits we were told that we needed a new unit and they would send a salesman to our house the next morning. We spent the night in a nearby motel. The next morning a salesman came to our house and discussed several options with us. P.C. reviewed several options with us. The first option was a Carrier product for $21,000, the second option was a Rheem product for $27,000 and the third option was another Carrier product for over $30,000. We were told there was a possibility that a new unit could be installed the next day. We selected the Rheem product (B-RHON-GHCS-36190-96100) and provided a check for half of the cost. As part of the cost, Blue Dot contracted a company to shovel our lawn so that the system could be installed ($300). The system was installed in one day and technicians had to return several times because the system was not programmed correctly. We were told that Baltimore County would need to come to inspect the work. After a month, we called Blue Dot because no one came from Baltimore County called us. Then, Blue Dot scheduled the appointments. We feel that we were taken advantage of because of our age and the situation. We strongly recommend that people should get more that one quote from DIFFERENT CONTRACTORS. We have been told by other companies that the equipment and installation should not have cost more than $13,000. read more

Blue Dot gave me a 4 hour window appointment (8am- 12pm) for 7/5/25. I called twice to inquire when the tech would arrive. Despite assurances that a message was being sent to the local dispatcher, no message was sent to me until 3:20 pm. I then received a text rescheduling me to 7/8/25, 8am - 12pm. I received a text on 7/8/25 at 11:20 am informing me that they would not be there during the appointment, but would be there today. I took off time from work to be home in the morning, but had to go back to work. The dispatcher assured me she would call back when the tech was on his way to my house. That call came at 2:40 pm, and on that call, the dispatcher apologized profusely and said she would discount the fee from $119 to $69. The tech arrived, found the issue that was an installation error, made the repairs, then presented me with his tablet to sign in two places without showing me what I was signing. Lo and behold, I received an invoice for $119. No discount for their horrible customer service. Run, run as fast as you can and as far as you can, away from Blue Dot. Every instance of transactions have been slimy and hiding details. I will be following up this review with a call to the local office to get the invoice corrected to the $69 quoted price. read more

I expressed that I was concerned that I had an 89-year-old mom, and it was getting late and the storm was approaching. Finally, around 4:09PM I got a call from a person name Adrian who refused to provide me with his ID #, and asked me a few questions that led to tell me that they cannot service my unit because it was oil heat, I told him that I was shock and upset that it took them all this time to make the determination without showing up or doing any follow-up calls, he didn't care and left me hanging with no apology, and up to date there was never a follow-up call. I have a heating issue now and I've called them they have canceled three times in a row. They wasted my time three days. Evening appointments do not exist even though they tell you that they do and will Schedule you. It's always an excuse they do not have technicians in the evening hours . Totally unreliable and unapologetic. I confirmed an appointment with them to service a rental house of mine at 8:51 am on a Saturday. They verbally confirmed the appointment window from 10-2 for the day and then sent me text back up letting me know they would call before they headed to the house. I had tenants waiting and sent someone over to walk the plumber through the intricacies of the house. Everyone was in place by 10am. At 11:50 a rep from Blue Dot called me to say that they didn't have anyone available to do the service call and that they'd like to reschedule for Monday. No apology or basic understanding of the fact that tenants had taken off work for this appointment or that I had multiple people in place as a result of them confirming the appointment. They didn't care. They simply let me know that there was nothing they could do other than reschedule. We had a technician named Justin come out to inspect our AC condenser and give us a replacement estimate and the experience was nothing short of frustrating. From the start, he was impatient and dismissive. By the end, it felt like he was trying to pressure us into signing a $10-15k contract on the spot, without even letting us think it over. He claimed there was "no equipment available," "no one working in the heat," and acted like replacement was our only choice. When I politely asked for the quote by email so we could review it overnight, he shot back, "Oh, you just want to see the numbers?" and then abruptly left without providing it. We expect honesty, transparency, and respect when working with any service provider but this visit delivered none of that.
