I am reviewing the Rafting and Snorkeling Adventure. The short version is that the staff were fantastic and the sights were unbelievable. The only reason this isn't getting a 5th star is because the actual snorkeling spot left a lot to be desired. For a more thorough review, read on... We booked our tour through aloha-hawaiian, an all-inclusive company, so we didn't really know what to expect when we got there. We ended up on a raft with Captain Cole, and Dane as the crew member. (Dane is also working on becoming a captain so he drove the raft about 2/3 of the time). There are a lot of mixed reviews about the raft itself, and I have to say it was a MUCH easier ride than we expected. It did get bumpy (hence the name adventure), but if you don't want to bounce around just sit near the back of the raft and you won't feel it. The closer to the front, the more adventure you get! They offer gloves free of charge, and explain in great detail how to best enjoy the experience. If you listen and do what they say, you will have a great time! We were very lucky to have been out on sea in the morning (did the 730 AM tour - and FYI the morning tours GUARANTEE dolphins!) and the weather was very pleasant so we were able to drive into 4 different sea caves, each with a special view! We saw a huge pod of dolphins, some sea turtles, and even a rare Monk seal napping on the beach. You will spend a VAST majority of the 5 hours on the raft, and when we did get to our snorkeling spot it was pretty disappointing. The water was quite deep and we saw maybe 10 fish total. Most of them were dark colored and it was pretty boring. So all in all a wonderful experience. However, if you are in it for the snorkeling I might suggest doing one of their other tours. read more

We did the sunset dinner cruise, and we loved it! We had a blast. We got to see a few waterfalls, and the boat pulled in under a couple of them. We got to play in the waterfall under a rainbow, eat good food, watch a beautiful sunset, and have an impromptu karaoke session; what more could you ask for? The crew was great, they were very attentive and helpful. I believe they were named Racheal and Stacy (please forgive me if I got your names wrong, ladies). I highly recommend this tour of the beautiful Na'Pali coast. Ask for Captain Chad, he was THE best. You can tell he loves his job and takes great pride in his Island and strives to show us tourists the best parts of it. read more

Took the Na Pali Sunset cruise with a +1. It was a beautiful day in itself, with calm waves, low wind, and sunshine. That said, the cruise was safe, commentary was good without being campy or overdone. All of the crew (Capt. Joe, Ruby and Jacob) were well attentive and seemed to want to give their passengers a good time. I would rate them separately at 5 stars. Overall, we had a great time, enjoyed the sights, and relaxed. The only negative feedback: - The Kahlua Pork was really salty (I know it's a thing, but this was REALLY salty). But there were other options. - The paperwork and guide online needs to be updated. I recall it saying that it was a "barefoot cruise" for grip on the deck. However, once we showed up, this was said to be "closed toed shoes only or barefoot". I would have brought my other shoes in that case. - The motor was running the entire time. This was expected (it's power sailer and there is a schedule to keep). But, I would have been nice, if possible, to run sails only for a while. Even with all that, I'd still go again. Really fun and quite an experience! All of the staff were very friendly,.helpful and funny! The captain told jokes the whole time and although my sister was very.scared, the crew were very helpful in calming her down with their great sense of humor! I will definitely come again both for the amazing experience of being on the ocean and for the fun crew! The tour provides pastries for breakfast and sandwiches for lunch. They were awesome and the raft ride was fun and adventurous. If you really want to snorkel in the caves then you must du this tour in the summer time when the ocean is calmer. When there is high swells it is too dangerous to snorkel in the caves and they don't let you. But if you do the morning tour you will always see dolphins!!!! We went on the raft snorkeling adventure through this company and we had such an awesome time! We saw dolphins, turtles, some caves, and miles of incredible cliffs and beaches on this tour and even got to snorkel for a while! Our captains, Amber and Matt, were seriously knowledgeable and super fun the whole morning. I definitely recommend this tour for anyone who loves going fast, getting soaked, and seeing cool sights!! read more

This was one of the best activities we did on the island, and one of the few we would do again. The sunset cruise was perfect, the staff and crew attentive and the food delicious. While we did not see any dolphins up close, we did spot a sea turtle, a Hawaiian Monk Seal, and tons of fish. I did the one tank Scuba dive tour for an extra $40, and it was great. I was a little hesitant as I have not dived since 2008, but the guide did an excellent job and brought me up to speed. The tour was great, with lots of humor and good stories and fables mixed with the history of the Na Pali Coast. Again, I highly recommend this tour. We had a great time. read more

We loved our Zodiac Raft tour of The Na Pali coast! Had a fantastic time. We were here on October 30, weather was great, no one got seasick on our tour, snorkeling stop was a good spot. I would recommend taking motion sickness meds before if you are prone to that. All in all it was a great time, and don't be worried about a bumpy ride or flying off the raft. Sure it is bumpy but it is a blast! Just hang on tight and remember that one foot under the rope! We are 72 and 61 years young and we didn't fall overboard. LOL read more

Had a fantastic time on the adventure raft tour. It was a great way to see the Na Pali coast up close and personal and in my opinion was way more fun than a helicopter tour I had done a few years ago. It was a small group of just 10 passengers led by captain Nate and guide Corey. The snorkeling was also a blast. I had thought that the food would be 'meh' but in reality the wraps, cookies, drinks were all tasty and I was very satisfied. Overall I'd definitely recommend Blue Dolphin Charters. They took care of me and their prices seemed better than other companies but quality was still top notch. read more

BEWARE! BRING YOUR DRAMAMINE! Pros: The sights were awesome. The spots we went to snorkel were cool, but not that great. Snorkling at Queen's Bath was just as good (and free). The ocean surf on the way back and the way out got most of our boat sick. I literally mean - MOST OF THE BOAT. I and about 10 others were the only ones out of about 30 people who did NOT vomit at least once. I can not stress enough the importance of taking some sort of anti-nausea medication. My husband has NEVER before gotten seasick and was not prepared. Most of the sick persons had never before gotten seasick. All of the staff very frankly stated that it's extremely common for people to get seasick - in fact, it's more common for passengers to get sick than for them NOT to. The tour goes like this: Approximately 2-3 hours up the Napali Coast then back at a diagonal to the "forbidden" islands. Then snorkel for literally 40 minutes, back on the boat, and on the 2+ hour ride through even heavier surf back to the dock. The staff estimated that the extremely heavy surf on our day was about a 1 on a 10 scale (1 being easy). We can't think of a reason why they would lie and say the surf was actually easier than it was except to tell us that it wasn't really that bad. Either way, we ended up paying hundreds of dollars for my husband (and many many others) to vomit for most of the day. Pros: The staff was all EXTREMELY nice. Extremely! They were great! The Mai Tais really were pretty good. The lunch tray was a sandwich meat and cheese tray with fantastic quality breads and cheeses. There was even a breakfast (which we weren't expecting) of cinnamon rolls and fresh fruit. Soda, pretzels, and water were passed out repeatedly throughout the entire cruise. The staff were always encouraged to take our photos whenever they saw anybody trying to snap their own shots and we did see dolphins (right under the bow!) and sea turtles (pretty far off). We didn't scuba because my husband has asthma but I don't think that we really missed all that much. They paid an extra $100 to stay down for 40 minutes! read more

Excellent crew, amazing views and totally worth it. The captain is very experienced as is his crew of two good-looking Hawaiian men. They helped everyone who were getting seasick, which seemed to be half the boat and by the time the boat was turning around, it seemed like half the people were sick on bottom deck. Anyway, all in all, the crew and experience was awesome. The food was good and we even saw some whales. The sunset was definitely a Hawaiian sunset. Go with this company, you can't go wrong. Except for few obnoxious tourists but they mostly got sick during the second half and shut their mouths. Lol read more

We booked the 7 hour na pali coast tour snokel and scuba on their large catamaran. Breakfast was served, juice/soda/water and cinnamon buns, while we saw spinner dolphins, bottle nose dolphins, turtles, and monk seals. They gave us a very imformative lecture over the loud speaker on the different parts of the island, history, and landmarks. Extremely knowledgable crew. After we got out to the na pali coast, the captain headed out for the forbidden island where we would scuba and snorkel. He warned us that between the islands the water is very choppy and he was hauling butt while we were heading over there. My wife got very seasick because of it. A few others got seasick as well, and it was no fun for them. The crew was extremely sympathetic checked on them, made sure they were doing ok, gave them water, and tried to keep their spirits up. I had signed up for the introductory scuba lesson. I have done scuba before so I knew what to expect. The instructor who dived with us was kind of a dick. Im sure he acted that way because it was his responsibility that we followed rules and that we didnt have any serious problems. He could have been a little more friendly in the process tho. Overall it was a good time. I wished we had stopped more than once to snorkel/scuba like other full day charters I have been on. It gave us more time to relax, have fun and see more things. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a very informative na pali coast adventure! read more

We sailed to Na Pali Coast on a windy day, so I didnt have too much hope. Captain Chad seemed to be very unfriendly at first but once we started sailing, he took off his shirt and became another man lolz. He showed us some cool spots and even steered the boat into a water fall for people to touch it. We saw a school of dolphins on the way too. When I started feeling nauseous, Captain Chad told me to try singing and gave me the mic. I ended up singing karaoke in front of a bunch of strangers and the next things I know my seasick started to go. After that he turned on a bunch of songs that we all sang along while watching sunset. Thank Cap. Chad and the crew for making my 25th B-day unforgettable. Hopefully, i can come back some day and sail with you again! read more

Such an amazing experience! I took a snorkel catamaran up the na Pali coast about 20 years ago and this one far exceeded my expectations. Our crew, captain Cole, Stacy, Amber, and elia were amazing. They really do a great job at keeping us safe and make sure everyone on board is having a good time. And lucky for us, we saw all the wildlife possible! 5 minutes into leaving the harbor, we came across a couple of whales. Ended up seeing sea turtles, flying fish, dolphins, more whales, and even a tiger shark (once we were back on the boat). The crew offered to take pictures and pointed out the good photo op spots. We did the 2 hour afternoon whale watch out of Port Allen and it was wonderful! We saw so many whales, even got to see some dolphins, plus a turtle on the way in : ) The crew was excellent, super kind and helpful, good food and drinks too. Only recommendation is stick with Hawaiian or local style music, country music rubs some people the wrong way, esp. me when i'm out on the water watching whales! read more

We took a half day tour and what can I say - the captain and crew were amazing, making sure that we had as much fun as possible but also kept our safety as a top priority. It starts off with fruit and cinnamon rolls for breakfast, lots of juice and tea and after the wet fun, there's a sandwich bar with plenty of beer and rum. It's been a couple of weeks since getting back home to the main land from our vacation in Kauai, and we are STILL talking about how amazing our experience was with Blue Dolphin Charters. We did a LOT of different excursions (helicopter, ATV, luau, etc) during our week stay, but this sunset snorkel and dinner cruise was the absolute best. Captain Chad, Matt and Dane were amazing! I have never had an experience quite like this and am so grateful to say I've done it! The crew were all so very informative, funny, and social. I loved learning so much about the island. Captain Chad was awesome! He took us to a couple waterfalls that no one else did that day! Spectacular! Really great boat ride but there was a medical emergency at the end. I am a physician and ran over to help but was asked by the boat staff to step away because I should be "on vacation." To be clear, there was significant concern for head trauma and the man was briefly unconscious after his fall. I'm not a boat captain, but I'm pretty certain they didn't have the training to address the emergency and I could have continued to provide input but they were not interested in my suggestions. Captain Chad, Matt and Mercedes ran a great Napali Coast dinner cruise. We had a nice, easy ride up the coast, and along the way, we saw turtles, whales, dolphins and one flying fish. We also caught a glimpse of two goats on a bluff. Captain Chad pointed out local landmarks and filled us in on some Hawaiian history. We were able to go under a small waterfall, which took some fancy maneuvering. I think an afternoon boat ride is THE way to view the Napali Coast--late sun on the spectacularly dramatic landscape against brilliant blue green ocean. It's stunning--I had originally thought of booking the snorkel cruise, but was glad we just went for the sightseeing. It was rather relaxing. The boat is quite comfortable, with plenty of room to move around, and the heads were clean and well-maintained. You could sit up top, or inside if you wanted, or roam around, as we did. You could definitely get your money's worth of views by walking around, instead of sitting the whole time. Dinner was tasty--kalua pig, Caesar's salad, rice, pineapple, cookies plus drinks. The huz and I both went for seconds...what the heck, we were on vacation. On the way back to Eleele, Captain Chad turned the boat into karaoke happy hour. We had a couple of really good singers in the group entertain us. Captain Chad stopped before we got back to port and held steady for a little bit to allow us time to take pictures of the sun set. We had a very good experience , and I would definitely recommend the excursion. I've heard good things about some other tour companies also, but can only comment on Blue Dolphin--a good, well-run outfit. read more

We booked the morning Niihau snorkel trip, do to huge waves, we were not able to swim 300 yards away from the forbidden island and right at the start they let us know, and told us we can get a full refund. We went anyways, because In Kauai you make the best of what you got! Also the Captain chadddddda B was so Black and white with everything, there's no in between. Which is the only way, I'd rather be on a charter where safety is #1 the tour was amazing, shout out to JOFF & DANE. Awesome crew, breakfast, lunch, and drinks were off the chain. We also did some karaoke, who can say they have sang on the island of Kauai. I can! Thanks you Blue Dolphin Charters, for making memories with can take back to the mainland. Mahalo. We had Captain Danny and Dane and they were absolutely wonderful. Danny got us up close and personal with the dolphins and inside the caves. We saw the beautiful Na Pali coast and he was very considerate to those who were sea sick. We were out on the raft and he made it a very fun and adventurous experience. I would prefer the raft vs the catamaran. With the raft you can get in the caves, zip through the waves and you don't get as sea sick. The whole experience was wonderful and our Captain and Crew was outstanding! Would totally do again. Also the lunch they provided was delicious and they made great family friendly company! AmaZing time !!! We were warned the water would be choppy so we took some Dramamine prior to the trip, and I'm sure it saved our life. It felt like a roller coaster half the time but super fun ! The crew was awesome, a lot of fun, and super attentive to us. Food was also great, can't complain at all. The views were breathtaking. The snorkeling was fun! It was our first time so a little scary at first but the water was really warm and with like 30 other people around you, you get over the nerves. They have all the snorkeling gear, just gotta bring your own towels. Def bring a lot of sun screen and perhaps a light jacket. The weather was really erratic and it must've rained like 5 diff times. Five stars for the staff and the beauty of the NaPali coast. However, that's where the fun ended. The first indication that we were in for a wild ride should have been the highlighted section of the waiver "no refund for motion sickness". We took the 5.5 hour snorkel tour. 90% of the participants got sick. The ocean was very rough and it was very windy. They allowed snorkeling however the swells were huge even at the snorkeling location. Enroute we did see multiple pods of spinner dolphins and the geography of the coast is amazing. An additional challenge was the overpowering smell of pine cleaner, which was nauseating on top of everything else. (At least everything was clean). Food was served but no one in our party of 6 people were comfortable enough to eat anything. Not a trip for those who get motion sick or are looking for a calm sailing excursion. read more

Could be tossing cookies. Didnt see much of that in the reviews. But there were a few people hanging over the rails. And really it was a nice calm evening. Crew was great. Skipper kept people laughing and pointed out dolphins and whales as they passed. Picked this place for the luau style dinner. But since I was one of the cookie tossers I didnt even try it. And actually the smell was not appealing the those of us hanging over. So if you do not know if you might get sea sick.. or you know you might. Think about it. Otherwise... it was a nice picture taking experience and people seemed to have a good time. Except a few. By no fault of the crew. Have fun. read more
