Food came out fair quick given we came early and wasn't too crowded yet which was good. They have 2 dessert options on the menu too but everyone was too full to have any. Will have to go back to try it another time along with other options on the menu.

There is a rooftop bar and restaurant called AMALFI in this location. There were many reusable tote bags of different variety for sale and they were very durable. But I did not come here for the tote bags this time. I came here for the chocolates that were on sale. They were having a sale of up to 50% of on selected items. The Chocolate Pistachio Truffles by Antica Torroneria Piemontese were 32% off the original price. Each chocolate was wrapped individually and were somewhat sticky when I tried them out. The pesto chips by Tartuflanghe that Eataly carried were 35% off. It was somewhat pricy even after the discount. It was originally $10.99 and with the discount it was brought down to $7.19. The pesto chips were tempting but I decided to not get them. The Grisbi Hazelnut Cream by Vicenzi was really good when I tried them out. They were mini hazelnut cream filled pies. I also got the Oishii strawberries, which were very cute and neatly packaged in the plastic container. They were really fresh and bright red. I never had these before and it was nice to try them for the first time. The bathrooms here were very clean but very busy with a line. There were many self serve check out kiosks and cashiers in this location.

After walking around, we decided to eat at La Pizza & La Pasta. What We Ordered: - Focaccia Bianca: Focaccia + Rosemary = Count me in! I love rosemary and focaccia, so this was perfect to start the meal. I loved the Olitalia extra virgin olive oil it was served with, and definitely would order again! - Limoncello Spritz: I'm in my summer spritz era, and adored the limoncello as you usually just see Aperol. Very light, refreshing, and a great drink to sip with my meal. - Diavolo Dolce: My coworker ordered this, and I tried a little. Hot spicy honey paired with whipped ricotta was truly divine, and the other ingredients complimented as well. Ultimately, I was left with entrée envy as I wish I ordered this. - Bucatini Cacio e Pepe: Very underwhelming, and I even spent $12 to add shrimp as a protein. I'd skip this next time as there are far better Cacio e Pepe out there. - Add Shrimp ($12): This came with only 4 shrimp, which means each shrimp was $3. I was flabbergasted at the price for the portion provided. It wasn't even that great of shrimp, I'd skip next time. Our waitress wasn't very talkative, but pleasant. Another member of the wait staff dropped off food that wasn't ours, so we had to flag down the waitress to take back. Thankfully, we didn't touch our food. Our food would arrive shortly, and allowed me to take in the scenery. Eataly is remarkable in size, selection, and felt like the Disneyland of Italian cuisine and products. I'd definitely return, but likely skip the Pizza/Pasta restaurant to try another restaurant or service counter instead. Heck, even make sure I had a checked bag to return home with some goodies packed in my checked bag from Eataly. Definitely stop by if local or visiting the area!

Barney Greengrass Deli, Amsterdam Avenue, NYC. It has been…read moresince 1989, when we lived in New York, that I last had a proper Jewish bialy. Compared with every bialy I've had since, the old cliché holds: there really must be something in the New York City water. Bagels are not even in the conversation. What I love and remember about a bialy is the texture -- chewy, not doughy. Barney Greengrass's onion bialys have real heft, more than the ones I used to pick up in the wee hours on the Lower East Side off Delancey street. I finally pulled the trigger and ordered three dozen. They overnighted them via FedEx. At $2 each the bialys themselves were a bargain: $72. The shipping is what stings -- $109.01. Total: $181.01. Expensive? Yes. Worth every penny? Also yes. Three dozen is a lot, but sharing them with family and friends who have never had a real one more than justifies it. Compare that to breakfast out -- McDonald's, a diner, a pub, your favorite steak house -- and this is still a bargain. Anthony Bourdain called this place the best breakfast in the universe, and he was a regular. After he died, they set his usual order at an empty table. That tracks. This is only done correctly in New York City. Take a serious look at the "Sturgeon King: Barney Greengrass". Final note: Set Toaster To Crunchy - Apply Heavy Amounts Of Irish Butter!

Barney Greengrass was famously Anthony Bourdain's favorite place to eat breakfast, and what did he…read morelike? The sturgeon platter! So when I waltzed in to this famous deli, I almost refused the menu. I already knew what I wanted! At the last minute I decided to dial back my confidence and it was lucky I did. Because that's when I saw that the sturgeon platter cost $51! Clearly this was meant for sharing, not for a lone diner like myself. A more reasonable order for singletons is the sturgeon appetizer, which is basically a platter for one. The cost: $27. Included is thick slices of sturgeon (as I first timer I poked at it to make sure it was not turkey), cream cheese, olives, capers, lettuce, onion and tomato, as well as one bagel. Really there is enough on the platter for two bagels, but an extra one will cost ya...$5 extra. And if you want a flavored cream cheese instead of plain, that will be $5 extra too. I blame Bourdain for these inflated prices, but also I don't: I have gained so much from his insightful writing and reporting that it is hard to complain. About the restaurant: its classic deli feel has been preserved, but it also feels a bit dingy. That was ok for me, but some may prefer to order from the deli counter - which has a prodigious menu of smoked fish - and create their own spread at home. That way you can find more reasonably priced but just as good if not better bagels from elsewhere in the vast bagel offerings of New York City. In general, focus on what Barney Greengrass does best, which is smoked fish.
