Where to start... Hired Dan to install a heater on my in ground pool. He moved my filter so he could avoid pouring a pad for the heater. I had my plumber come out and run the gas line. When we turned the system on it started making a whining noise. Over the course of the next week Dan kept insisting it was because the gas line was too small. My plumber came several times and repeatedly tried to explain to Dan that the heater was getting more than enough gas pressure and that was not the problem. He even brought the equipment to show the pressures but Dan insisted it was the gas line. Nothing would budge him from thinking he was right. My plumber ended up calling tech support for the heater and troubleshooting to find out it was indeed a problem with the heater and nothing to do with the gas line. Even with that information, Dan still believed it was a gas pressure problem. When the city gas inspector came out he pointed out that an electrical permit was never pulled. Dan is not licensed to run the electrical and he insisted that he has "been doing this for decades and never had to pull a permit". In other words, he has done illegal electrical work for years. So, I called my electrician out to look into it. Dan had not installed a ground wire, the junction box was lying on the ground and several other things I didn't understand were not done properly or to code. 1. Dan was supposed to pull a permit, the heater was put too close to the electrical box (less than 2 feet away) and the heater, by code, has to be at least 3 feet away from the electrical box. Not to mention Dan is not licensed to do the electrical in the first place! 2. My plumber asked Dan to three-way call with tech support so he could be made to understand the gas pressure. Dan agreed. Dan said he called tech support, without looping in my plumber, and when my plumber called tech support they said they had no open case for my unit. My plumber asked Dan to come meet with him several times to resolve the issue but Dan never showed up. My plumber advised Dan that the heater company was sending a new part and that he would take care of installing it for me. The very next day Dan tells my plumber he has the same part on its way and will install it. What? A penny short and a day late! 3. Dan showed up at my home several times to look at the unit but never did anything with it even though I repeatedly asked him to at least trouble shoot other issues in case he was wrong about the gas pressure being the problem. He didn't. He wouldn't. 4. Not once did Dan call or text me or give any notice he was coming and I only knew he was here if I saw him walk pass my window. I reminded him several times that I had a new dog and was worried she would get out and that giving me a heads up he was coming was common curtesy. 5. My plumber tried to work with him to resolve the problem and at one point I was on speaker with the plumber and Dan was here. I was asking him questions and trying to get them together to figure out the problem. Dan didn't make eye contact, ignored most of my questions and when he did respond he would simply point to the gas line. 6. After speaking with my electrician Dan offered to come back out and move the heater and rerun the lines. I told him I had lost all faith in his professionalism and workmanship and to not step foot on my property. I had given him every opportunity to fix the issues and make things right but he just couldn't stop blaming someone else. This is just a summary of the numerous things that went wrong with Blue Diamond Pools; the highlights of my 4 week nightmare. The worst part is, Dan was recommended to me by Leslie's Pool Supplies so I mistakenly thought he was the right company for the job. Bottom line: I had to hire another pool guy to come move the heater about 5 feet from its current position, the plumber has to come back and move the gas line and the electrician has to come back and wire the system. Then, the electrical and gas inspectors have to come back to approve the work. I have to pay all these people additional money to fix all the problems created by Dan. This project has cost me more than double the original estimate Dan gave me. This has been a 4 week nightmare and it's still not over. read more

I explained my pool issues, we went step by step through the troubleshooting process and my very large problem ended up being a very small fixable problem during that same appointment time, so yay! We have used Blue Diamond Pools for more than 10 year now. Daniel does a great job for us every year. A few years ago, we developer some cracks in our plaster which made the pool unusable until it was resurfaced. We put it out to bid to several companies and Blue Diamond Pools came within everyone else's bids. He did a great job of staying on top of all the various aspects and kept us up to date with our progress. Where to start....For the sake of being brief, I will only share SOME of the unprofessional interactions I've had with this company. When inquiring as to the cost of opening our pool, I was quoted FAR FAR less than the bill I received. From my past experience, "opening a pool" results in a pool ready to use with 3-4 days (a week if it's bad weather).... a month later the pool was still green. Day one included simply pulling off the cover and bladders and laying them in a heap on the side and putting on the garden hose to fill the pool. I'm assuming they put in some sort of chemicals (who wouldn't). Days go by and I hear and see nothing. I eventually put the tarp and bladders over the fence to straighten and dry them. Who knows how many times they came by but after a few weeks, don't you think there would be a check on the water or some action to improve the quality? My texts were all very very pleasant--still have the proof, yet the owner (from day one) was very sarcastic, short or snotty. I eventually wondered and questioned him if he knew the system was salt and not chlorine. Well, I'm dying to share the text I received after my inquiry.SO DISRESPECTFUL! I noticed an empty salt bag in the trash the next day. No clear water.....I eventually investigated on my own and found that the salt system's wire was severed (probably from last fall by the lawn service). Now don't you think they would have questioned--after a MONTH--why the water didn't clear?! And now they have the AUDACITY to send me a bill for over $500!!! You heard it! And so will the Better Business Bureau. read more
