This really is a 'secret' garden…read more My sister and I were seeking a venue for a little treat and she recommended we try here. Afternoon tea without the ridiculous price - perfect. At £24 for two this really is a steal. Sandwiches of your choice, scones (with the usual accompaniments) and some yummy traybakes. This is more like non pretentious, Northern Irish style afternoon tea. With the tray bakes including mini fifteens and malteaser squares. If you are looking for something cutesy, scrumptious and not breaking the bank then look no further! Will definitely be back. Don't forget to check out the gift shop for some trinkets and the perfect gifts for mums.

Tea rooms attached to a garden centre, tend not to have the most out there reputation. I'm glad to say my scepticism was blown out of the water. This place is definitely a little gem of Belfast. The actual tea rooms/restaurant are an elegantly appointed building with stunning views of the countryside. You feel like you are in the great hall of some stately Victorian home. Sumptuous décor and a varied and delicious sounding menu. As we were there during the week we availed of the two courses for £9.99 (I think that was the price so apologies if I got this wrong, my mum was paying) We both ordered the soup for starter, Butternut Squash, chilli and coconut. Very tasty and a huge portion, I couldn't finish mine because I wanted to leave room for the main. My mother ordered slow cooked beef brisket, Mash and roast root veg while I had the smoked haddock, creamy bacon and leek sauce and the same sides. I cannot fault the food, it was delicious. My only tipple would have been that a selection of different sides for the fish may have been a little better, Maybe some samphire and potato croquets or some such. We also caught a glimpse of their cram tea on another table which looked stunning (I think the Waitress said it was £20/25 per head) Overall an amazing place for lunch, but it doesn't end there. They also offer a dinner menu Thursday to Saturday and it is BYO so definitely cannot be doing wrong there. I highly recommend this place for lunch or for dinner! If you go for dinner though I think you have to book as this place is making its mark on the map and seems to be getting ever more popular!

Ohhh Papa, come to Mama. You're heaven in a pizza box…read more Oh yes, Papa Johns' pizza is (in my opinion) the best tasting pizza around. Everything about it screams perfection - the dough is always so soft and fluffy, the toppings are spot-on, and the sides just add to the whole experience. It's definitely pizza love (sorry Pizza Hut, you come a close second). When Papa John's came to Northern Ireland a few years ago, I'd never heard of it. The first pizzeria opened in Dundonald, and the second in Dungannon not long after. To this day, these are the only two branches in Northern Ireland, unfortunately. Luckily for me though, it's a mere five minutes down the road. And they do free delivery (usually in super-quick time) if you spend £10 or more. Oh, I am a lucky girl... Papa Johns have consistently good offers on, with a buy one get one free 'Early Week Special' (or BOGOF if you prefer, though that could really be disastrously misinterpreted) on Monday and Tuesday, as well as special carry out prices - £12 for any large pizza which has three or less toppings. I personally love their meal deals - meal for three = medium (12") pizza, potato wedges / garlic pizza bread, chicken wings / chicken dippers and a 1.25 litre drink for £14. The cheese and tomato pizza is a safe, but incredibly tasty option, and the chicken bbq is always a good call. If you're in and around Dundonald, Papa Johns will satisfy all your pizza needs. Mmmm...

However more and more in recent years there have been a large range of Pizza places popping up that are frankly mediocre.Fortunatel that isn't the case at all with Papa John's! This is the only branch of Papa John's in Northern Ireland which is astounding to me considering its success and prominence worldwide! On both Mondays and Tuesdays this place does buy one get one free offers which trumps even the might dominoes! The pizzas here are great. The pizza bases are delicious with really tasty crusts, so you want to eat the whole thing rather than littering your house with leftover bread ! The sides in the store are better than you would get at dominoes too, with their chicken wings and chicken dippers surprisingly tasty! You can customise your pizza any way you want, so if you love pizza in anyway like me, feel free to head to Papa John's and grab a pizza of the action! ;)

I had the 6oz chicken Memphis burger and it was huge! The 12oz was also ordered at my table and it was massive! Not one for the faint hearted. It was delicious. Dimmed with a vegetarian friends and on first glance the menu appeared to have no veggie options but after asking the waitress she let us know that there was separate menu for vegetarians and a decent selection. The staff were excellent and even helped to resolve a problem we had with our order (my fault, not theirs) in excellent style. Overall nice to see an American eatery executed with the quality and service you would expect to find.

Maybe I've been watching too many American films... My boyfriend, his parents, his granda and I all descended upon Blue Chicago for my boyfriend's 21st birthday lunch. On a chilly Sunday in January, this place was absolutely packed! We were led to a small booth, which was far too tiny for all five of us, but were moved when another, larger booth had been vacated. This style of restaurant doesn't allow for big groups mind you, and even in the bigger booth, we were slightly cramped. However, the friendly waitresses (not a roller-skate in sight) were great, and the food was delicious. Chicken goujons, salad and steak were all had at our table...not a critical comment about any of them. The portions were huge, particularly for lunchtime, but I love getting my money's worth, so that was definitely a plus. Without a doubt, the best moment was when the 60s soft rock music was replaced by an incredibly cheesy version of 'Happy Birthday'. It did take me a few moments to realise that the huge cake coming towards us was for my boyfriend, who was slightly embarrassed by this stage. Obviously his parenst had arranged this with the restaurant, but it really was a lovely touch. Grabbing some cake, my boyfriend and I rolled out of Blue Chicago, our stomachs fit to burst. I'll definitely be doing that sometime again soon. Perhaps not the rolling though.

The ice-cream is particularly good, but the sandwiches and paninis are also delicious. Their traybakes / muffins etc are usually quite big, but truly scrumptious. I remember sharing a muffin with a friend, and even between the two of us, we just couldn't finish it. Once again though, the high standard of customer service is what really makes it for me. The staff are more than helpful, and genuinely lovely. On one particularly busy day, the staff were rushed off their feet and had forgotten about my hot chocolate, but as soon as they realised, the apologies came thick and fast. Bless 'em. At this time of year, the Nosh team provide picnic baskets filled with goodies, including the rugs! What a wonderfully novel idea. I do pity them though...one week of persistently heavy rain and showers and the Northern Irish summer looks like another washout. Do nip into this delightful little cafe if you're around the area...it does have some of the best Nosh in town.
