Very slow response times, took 3 months to refinance, and they have not communicated with me once since it went through. They had to request 2 quotes from my previous loan holder "because we didn't think we would get the first one so fast"... Which amazes me in terms of incompetence. People who are leaving bad reviews are upset because they don't understand the process... just because a company could potentially get someone refinanced for a really low rate like 3.75%, doesn't mean anyone can qualify for that. Rebecca Arellano, Tom Garvey, and Aaron Beynon worked as an incredible team, communicating with me what I could expect and keeping me up-to-date on what was going on. We did a no cost refinance to get me a better rate than what I had, AND they were able to drop PMI to save me an additional $66/month. The entire deal took less than 14 days. I have used this company twice. The last one was as advertised, no cost, that's right, no costs at all. I received a 30 year fixed rate of 2.5%. They were quite busy, I had to be patient but they kept me at 2.5%. My experience with other larger companies had me just walking away after 45 days and with them wanting to raise the rate on me, despite the delays all with them. read more

Takes a lot for me to give a 1 star review, but Blue Brick sure did earn it! Blue Brick Financial strung me along for more than 3 months (for a refi on a 6 mo. old mortgage) before issuing a one sentence denial--a denial citing a reason that didn't apply to my application. The customer service side of the shop would constantly try to smooth things over and offer to reach out on my behalf to the "people that make the decisions." Overall the worst experience I've ever had buying/selling/refinancing property. Thankfully I realized Blue Brick didn't care about me or my business, despite stating they would figure out why the errant denial was issued and fix it, so I moved on to a reputable company. After a quick three weeks with Mark Ruthven I was able to refi the house with a better rate than Blue Brick was promising with equitable closing costs. This is by far my worst experience. We are first time home buyers, and were given information (all closing fees covered), early closing date, lowest interest rate, WRONG, mind you we were 3 days prior to closing, and they decided to share this information! The seller was ready to pull out because of the lack of confidence and communication with this company! We had to pull teeth to get them to move forward with ANYTHING! We had the closing date pushed back 4 times, and the day we show up to sign our closing documents they never sent them! We are sitting at the title agency excited to sign for our first house and this has been an absolute NIGHTMARE!!!! Carrie Fischer is terrible, I will never recommend anyone to this mortgage company. My experience echos some of the other negative comments in that there is little communication. This would not be such a problem if it were not for the fact that nearly every step along the way took longer than the range of time I was told to expect. This of course required me to call or email to understand where things were in the process only for them to be upset with me for me wanting an update. The overall impression I took away is they will say nearly whatever it takes to get you going through the process. I was told things that with almost near certainty could not have been true by Chris Seago, one of their reps. This may just be him, but the company has to be responsible for their employees actions. In the competitive mortgage industry you can and should do much better than working with Blue Brick. read more

Terrible company to work and deal with. Lack of communication, professionalism and transparency. After almost one month dealing with them and providing all docs for refinancing and numerous phone calls asking them for an update they told me they are concern that townhouse will not be approved for refinancing. After one month you are telling me that!! In the mean time I lost some good offers from other lenders that locked the great rate for me and canceled it as I was committed to these guys. During that one month dealing with these idiots the bank rate went up so it did not make sense to refinance anymore. So, I lost this opportunity to refinance and reduce my monthly payment for about $250-$300 because of these charlatans. I emailed one of the owners and told them about situation and how unprofessional they are and he did not even have a basic demeanor to apologize for what they did. I'm not even sure now how I found Blue Brick, we have been trying so long to refinance that the companies and time periods are kind of a blur. My wife and I work full time for our own business, which makes qualifying for certain things a real challenge, especially when some business debts are listed in our own names. My existing mortgage was since 2007 and was fixed at 6.75%, so it was very frustrating when rates came down over the years, that I couldn't refinance. We have never been late or missed a mortgage payment and have good credit scores, but no one would refinance us. I didn't even want to take cash out, just wanted a lower rate. I finally went back to the guy who processed my existing mortgage and he told me I was wasting my time, no one would refinance us. So Blue Brick was my last shot and after reading some negatives on them, I certainly had my doubts. I worked with Julie Anderson through the entire process and she actually took an interest in me and seemed really sincere in helping us get this done. I was hesitant to waste money on an appraisal if the loan wouldn't be approved, so Julie worked to get us pre-approved based on what we realistically thought the appraisal amount would be. It took a lot of time, which would be my only minor complaint, but we finally were able to refinance our home! We went from a conventional 30-year fixed at 6.75% with a balloon payment, to a conventional 30-year fixed at 4.09% and no balloon payment. Our mortgage went from $3,455 a month to $2,493, saving us nearly $1,000 a month, not to mention the extra interest paid over the course of the loan. Now I can use this extra monthly savings to help pay down other debts. This is our "forever" home, we have remodeled it over the years to the way we want and are fixed in our community. To be stuck in a high interest mortgage with no way out, other than to sell, was very disheartening. Julie and her team at Blue Brick made possible what others told me couldn't be done. This was an expensive bad experience for us. We were charged almost 1K for an appraisal (they of course choose the appraiser) and it came out 22% lower than an appraisal done by our current mortgage company 3 months earlier. The appraisal was even lower than the county assessment for taxes (usually lower than actual value of house). Supposed to be free but the appraisal was so low that we are not getting the loan and we are stuck paying for what we consider a terrible appraisal. And lots of time and work on the cycle wasted also! Very unhappy!! read more

I must say I started out skeptical-- I have never responded to unsolicited mailer and it went into my recycling bin. But I'm so glad I did! I started calling around for refi options and couldn't find one with the best rates AND cost. I had given up and then remembered my flyer. The team (Shelley, Tom, and Jacob) made it very smooth. Worst experience ever! I am an agent and my buyer decided to use this lender.... they are the worst at communicating. Deadlines kept getting pushed back. Aaron Beynon will tell you what you want to hear but does not follow through. He has 6 phone numbers (literally) but cannot answer any of them. Even after asking politely to be removed from their mailing list Aaron Beynon continues to send advertising and has even removed his return mailing address so you can't just refuse it at the post office. The phone number on the advertising is disconnected. They have perfected killing trees (tons of unnecessary mailers), harassing local citizens, invading personal privacy about mortgage information, all in the name of their next sale. Similar to other reviews, the lack of communication was terrible and the entire process took forever! After 3 months of waiting for the next thing and jumping through their hoops, they told me that my self-employment income did not count because I hadn't been doing it for 2 years, why did it take them 3 months to tell me this! If I had gone with someone else from the beginning, I could have completed my refinance. What a nightmare to deal with. Heather Miller was unbelievably rude to me from the very first email she sent me, and then they made excuses every step of the way. Communication is terrible! Had to work through 3 people, of which 2 had few answers to questions (I've been here 2 months and do files!) Took weeks to get answers (oh, we're busy was my response!) Please don't talk to Melissa Darby (underwriter), has ZERO people skills, needs to hide behind a desk and not speak to customers, arrogance and condescending speech doesn't work with me. Finally, contacted the owner, James Jarnagan, he still hasn't returned my message, must be too busy, or perhaps oblivious to his non-people skilled employees? One of the worst. As others have stated, Julie and Mike will tell you whatever you want to hear. I turned my very easy loan (I have heavy equity in my home) into a nightmare. I turned my paperwork around in 2 days, then waiting nearly 90 days before they told me no-go, rates had went up. They actually had me pay for the appraisal, waited very long, appraisal done, and I was emailing and just awaiting the paperwork. No response from Julie. I call the office the next week, still hearing nothing and they told me they made a mistake and should not have ordered the $550 appraisal! What a bunch of idiots. I could have easily got the loan done quickly somewhere else, but these yahoos dragged this out with 0 communication. Stay away from them. When rates are low you get less qualified customer loan officers as everyone want a piece of the greed. This new rate hike will clean house again of places like this. I stated that they had very poor communication and customer service. Tom Garvey said "yes, I agree". What??? How do you expect to run a customer based business with that? In the competitive mortgage industry you can and should do much better than working with Blue Brick. read more

I wish I'd read the previous reviews before I started dealing with this company. I've applied for mortgages with them twice in two years. I have an 804 FICO score, pay my credit cards off in full every month, have a mortgage payment of $ 1,500 per month, no other debts and make over $ 100 K per year. After sending them tax returns and all kinds of financial info, they tell me my debt to income ratio is too high. The only debt I have is the mortgage which I'm trying to refi - I've been paying it for 10 years and have never been late or missed a payment. I don't know what they're doing but it doesn't appear to be a mortgage company. Meanwhile they have all my financial information and I have know idea how well they safeguard that info (if at all). Steer clear of this company. read more

I received a letter in the mail. 1. NO postmark, just "PRSRT STD U.S. Postage Paid Phoenix, AZ PERMIT #5488. 2. NO return address. These two items are enough to tell you that it is spam/marking crap, otherwise, why are they being deceptive? The letter also had the wrong loan amount on my house, which means they just trolled some database somewhere and got a number They advertise ZERO closing cost (that they pay everything including appraisal, title fee, and every other fee, and that these fees are not added to your loan balance). Guess what, if it sounds to good to be true, it is. I'm sure they'll write you a loan with ZERO fees, it's just that the interest rate won't be the 3.75% 30-yr loan they advertised on Nov 27, 2017 (the date of their letter). It will probably be a 5% loan or something crazy. If you want to refi, and you have perfect credit (no late payments and a credit score over 800) Provident will offer you the lowest rate (although you'll have to do a lot of paperwork yourself, like uploading scanned copies of paycheck stubs, insurance statements, etc.) but as long as you have all your records, and several hours time, you can do it. Amerisave is another online vendor that has good rates for perfect credit (just a little higher than Provident) and again, you do a lot of scanning and uploading. I've used Amerisave on half a dozen refi's. There's a lot of complaints online about Amerisave, and they can take a long time to close a loan, but every app I've submitted has been approved at the rate quote I got when I applied on their website. If YOU enter a fico score of 750 on Amerisave' s website, apply, then you'll be quoted a rate. But when they pull your score, if your score is 600, then obviously, you won't get the rate on the website based on the score you entered. I think this catches a lot of people and they complain. The best bank was ABN-AMRO. When rates went down, sometimes I could just call them and they'd lower my rate (that was before the 2008 mess). Unfortunately, ABN-AMRO was bought up by some crappy bank. --- The bottom of the letter said Please contact me at 801 505 8027 or www.bluebrickfinancial.com, Dan Richardson Owner/Broker - Blue Brick Financial LLC. --- I don't know why a Utah area code (801) is sending me mail in calif? WARNING! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Absolutely the worst mortgage company ever. I would give double negative stars if it was possible. The company, loan officer (Roger), loan assistant and loan processor (Melisa) were a joke. There was no communication from the loan officer. It was almost impossible to get a response from the loan officer. The loan processor would also mess up and send me other borrower's documentation. Can you imagine if your confidential information was being sent to strangers? I also left messages for the owners of the company and still have not heard anything back. The lack of communication and professionalism is unbelievable. I called Blue Brick to do a 15-yr refinance. I submitted all the paperwork they required in a very timely manner. It was a very easy refinance to do. I emailed both the LO and processor several times and gave them very clear instructions. I put in a simple request to give me a call and let me know what the rate was the day before the appraisal so we could lock in the rate or I decide to cancel the appraisal if the rates increased. Well the rates didn't increase and we could have locked in the rate at that time. The loan officer finally called me a week after the appraisal was completed and informed me the rates increased afterwards and I was stuck with a $600 appraisal and it wouldn't make sense to do the refi. This process took over 3 months!!! So ridiculous. The loan officer's excuse was "Sorry, I was too busy." I guess he had more important things to do besides take care of his customers. It was a complete waste of time. They also made me miss out on a lower interest rate. Nobody should have to go through this process. I'm sure it can't get any worst than this. Do yourself a favor and look somewhere else if you want to deal with an honest and reputable company. read more
