As time went on we decided that we would like to stay and have dinner here but indoors as it was getting cold. There were 14 of us and they managed to fit us into the restaurant area on the proviso we ordered quickly before the 6:30pm booking arrived and one table had to vacate by 8pm. The staff were great and we did not feel that we were being rushed even though some people had starters. A lot of us picked from the specials board and the food came out devine and the service was outstanding. The place was busy as it was the jazz/fringe festival weekend so the clientelle was of all ages (a bit annoying having babies/kids screaming thoughout the meal) including elderly who came in through the fire door for easy access. I would definitely recommend this place which is also dog friendly. This place is soo good that Seasick Steve was playing there that evening and eating his dinner in the pub part as we left.

We were incredibly pleased with how lovely the place is. Great outdoor dining area, and incredibly cosy inside. The staff were incredibly courteous, and the food was just unbelievably good. I'll admit, when I first ordered, I did think that they were a little expensive. However, it turns out that was because I was expecting the food to be of a lower standard. What they brought out to us was worth every penny. This is a fantastic little place, a hidden gem. Worth driving over an hour to go to, seriously.

It posseses open fireplaces, and a choice of cozy tables for 2 or 4, and long tables for larger parties in the back. HRH Prince Charles, Dylan Thomas have both visited here, to sample the beer still brewed on the premesis. The food is pricey, but what a meal you get for your money! A huge plateful that would be enough for two! the most reasonable is the Roast dinners, approx £10 a head. The walls and ceilings of the Inn are covered in memorobilia, from horse brasses to farming tolls, there is enough to occupy your mind while you wait for your meal. On your way to the loo you will encounter a full suit of armour, and in the back are fish tanks, and a talking parrot!

It was no surprise then when I found out it was the same lady who runs the nearby campsite, The Pound. She is not a nice person to deal with, but she couldn't give a hoot how she deals with paying customers from all accounts. Pros: It's right on the River Wye and has a landing site The view of the River Wye from the beer garden is amazing The young bar staff were pleasant despite their bosses behaviour Cons: The food was just ok. My beef and mushroom pie had a gravy which which was a tad too strong The owner is not a nice person to deal with I can't imagine we'll stop here again. Myself and my husband would rather stop at a field further on the river which we've stayed at before - with sheep poo, no facilities and cook our own food - than give her our custom again. Can't remember both beers I had, but one of them was Masters Devons Pride. They were both good. I think I might have eaten the Smoked Haddock & Spring Onion Fishcake too but my memory fails me slightly. I enjoyed whatever I had!
