It was so out of control with kittens everywhere and DCL came out again and again. How they do this hard work and all of the heavy lifting of traps with cats, transporting them to vets super early in the morning, then pick them up again, keeping the cats safe until they can be released back to their homes is crazy dedicated. An all volunteer non-profit that tries to make a dent in the cat over-population in Dallas county. I know volunteers use a lot of their own money for supplies, cat food and their own gas for transporting. They also take in tiny kittens and stay up all night to feed them until they can be adopted so that is hard work for 8 weeks minimum. I've seen their setups at Petcos where volunteers get friendly cats adopted, but there are more cats than adopters these days. Sterilize your pets and don't let them loose. Bless all of the people trying to help especially DCL.

Eventually he warmed up and I got his weight down. He had more costly issues than I planned but that was on me - not D&K City. *POP-UP PET-STORE VETS - BEWARE I have used 2 separate ones. Neither saved me a dime over CityVet, as advertised. Bait & switch, possibly incompetent. REX DIED a few weeks after a routine exam from VET-ON-WHEELS. The RoBo Call I received a few days after his checkup said: "You're pet recently visited one of our in-store clinics. Your pets bloodwork was unremarkable. Thank you for choosing the convince of..." I was baited by their "$79 special" that ended-up costing nearly $300 when they plus-sold me on bloodwork. I now doubt they even did the bloodwork. And, REX DIED a few weeks after the RoBo Call informing me he was fine. * (2020) BRIXIE is a beautiful Brindle Great Dane mix I adopted in May. She has a very pronounced personality different from any other dogs I've grownup with or have adopted in the last 25+ years. She is an affection hound and also part bloodhound squirrel killer. There are a lot of stupid slow squirrels that pass too close to her fence. She's also younger than the age D&K City disclosed. She's gained 20# of muscle. Sleeps-in late, only begrudgingly getting up for bfast earlier than 9. Took only a few days to potty train her without kenneling.

A comment made by a front desk staff member towards me immediately made me uncomfortable and set the wrong tone, which ultimately threw off my entire visit. I was referred here by another organization and arrived with positive intentions, but that initial interaction affected my comfort level. I was in and out within 10 minutes. Customer service plays a major role in the adoption process when visitors feel comfortable with both the staff and the animals, adoptions are far more likely to move forward. I hope management takes a closer look at front desk interactions to ensure guests feel welcomed and supported.

I would strongly caution anyone considering completing community service or volunteering with this…read moreorganization to think twice before committing their time. My experience started off positively--I was welcomed without issue and began completing my assigned hours. At no point during my time there was I informed of any concerns, misconduct, or violations. However, without any warning, explanation, or justification, I was suddenly told not to return. When I asked for clarification, the only response I received from management was: "we reserve the right to allow or deny someone to work with us." No further explanation was provided, and no opportunity was given to address or correct any alleged issue--because there wasn't one. This kind of treatment is not only unprofessional, but also deeply unfair. Individuals completing community service are often doing so under strict deadlines and requirements, and to be dismissed without cause can have serious consequences. The complete lack of communication and transparency from management raises serious concerns about how decisions are made within this organization. Based on my experience, there appears to be a disregard for fairness and accountability, and decisions may be influenced by factors that have nothing to do with a person's actual performance or behavior. That is extremely concerning. I will be formally escalating this matter, but in the meantime, I feel it is important to share my experience so others are aware. No one should risk investing their time and effort into an organization that can arbitrarily decide to dismiss them without cause or explanation. Proceed with caution.

We bought a black lab puppy named Sierra from them in August of 2013. We brought her home for a couple months and worked on basic obedience with her. After a while it became clear we needed a professional to do some training. Our goal for Sierra was for her to be a well-rounded Diabetic Alert Dog. Brooks Labs took Sierra for 8 months. During that time I visited and saw her transformation. At the end of the 8 months her progress was phenomenal. She knows all of the basic obedience commands, has had extensive public access work, rides in a car well, and, of course, is a good alerter to low blood sugar. Brent Brooks also provides fantastic service 'after the sale.' We have kept in touch and he's always been extremely helpful with questions. I highly recommend Brooks labradors for puppies or for training. They are clearly very committed to what they do. A+
