Moms-to-Be: So worth it to get a facial with Juliette! The last time I saw Juliette, I was a…read morebride-to-be and now 8 months later, I am continuing my skin care journey with Juliette as a soon to be Mom. Looking forward to going back in a couple of months for some new mommy treatment too! Being pregnant, I kept having these little breakouts. I would have never guessed that my skin needed hydration instead of pimple cream! Juliette did an amazing hydrating facial with a chocolate/milk mask (smelled good enough to eat!) to help get my skin back in balance. The thing I like most is her honesty and commitment to natural products. She said that 20% of skin care is going for a facial to get balanced, but 80% is maintaining your skin at home. She shares so many tips that are relevant for your skin at that given time. She even recommended that I use coconut oil which is so inexpensive and I would have never thought of that on my own. I also bought a very light weight "hydrating finishing moisturizer" from Juliette for daily use (only $20!! I am sure a container this size would have been double the price at other spas). Loving this moisturizer and the clean smell.

I've had many facials over the years, but I've never met anyone like Juliette…read more She is incredibly knowledgeable and the product line she uses is top notch. My skin was in not-so-great shape when I went to see her (thanks to the polar vortex) and she took her time explaining exactly what she was using, how it would help, and why I needed it. This is not a facial you'd receive at a generic spa. There's definitely periods of zone-out, but this was probably the most conversation I've ever had during a treatment - not a bad thing in my opinion, because she truly cares about what she's doing and wants to share it. I did feel a bit chided at some points - you know when you go to the dentist and they make you feel guilty for not flossing enough? - but Juliette has a motherly vibe that makes it more palatable. I will definitely be returning. Juliette is a gem and would probably have a celebrity following if this was NY or LA.

Shappell was very thorough during the massage. ***however, upon reflection and discussion w a massage therapist friend on mine, I have concerns re consent in the following instances. 1. She told me that she would leave the room for me to undress but did not. 2. She told me to undress to my comfort level, which for me was top and bottom underwear. She then promoted me to remove my bra. 3. She used cupping without asking me before hand or instructing me as to why. Cupping obviously leaves marks on my back which I did not anticipate having following my appointment. This hasn't been a part of deep tissue massages I've had in the past at other places and this was the first time I'd ever have it done. 4. She took pictures of my back after the cupping which I did not consent to her taking. I would not have known she did this had she not shown me afterwards. I hope she has since deleted them. Shappell seems lovely and clearly is a gifted massage therapist. However, I feel very uncomfortable with these aspects and hope they are addressed for future clients.

The best thing in the place were the free M&M's they have on the table. There is no real privacy. The rooms are curtained off in the cold basement of the building. The massager...can't call her a massage therapist because it certainly was not therapeutic. I asked her to reduce the pressure....she did but apparently her techniques beat and bruised my back in ways I would have never imaged. She was nice...but very rough, with heavy rushed and chaotic strokes. Someone walked in my curtained space while she was doing my massage...again no privacy. The price is decent for. 2 hour massage. But, the end result...bruises and pain are not worth it. No one should have to be use Tylenol after a massage. I went for peace and left in pieces.

Booking was easy (I did it online), and you feel pampered every step of the way. After you're checked in you're walked into a locker room where you can change into a bath robe and slippers. From there you can sit in a lounge with a heated neck pillow while you await your massage therapist. My massage therapist was Gogo. She did a wonderful job and accommodated all of my requests. She even gave me suggestions on how to stretch for the troubles I was having. After you're done, you have access to showers to get cleaned up and continue relaxing. They also offer memberships for monthly massages which I think I"m going to get soon! I'll definitely be back.

I chose Spavia Elmhurst after doing a lot of research and being willing to spend extra for what I…read moreexpected would be a high-quality, relaxing massage. Unfortunately, it ended up being one of the most disappointing spa experiences I've had. I booked a 60-minute deep tissue massage with the scalp oil and Hypervolt add-ons. Neither add-on was performed... my scalp was never touched and no massage gun was used though I was initially charged for both (they were only refunded after I reached out). The massage itself felt rushed and incomplete. Most areas of my body were barely worked on, and I left still in pain. When I got up, I noticed the digital wall clock in the room had been partially covered with a towel.. specifically, only the minutes portion was covered. I later realized the session had ended about 5-10 minutes early. Management later claimed that covering the clock is standard practice for guest comfort, but that explanation does not make sense. The clock was not bright at all, and there was a much brighter light left on in the corner of the room the entire time. If a digital clock is supposedly too bright and distracting, then it would make more sense to use a standard wall clock or not have a visible clock at all. Partially covering only the minutes, the part that tells you exactly how much time is left... felt like a very shady business practice rather than a comfort measure. I was also told afterward that my massage was shortened because I arrived late. However, when I checked in, the front desk assured me they were able to push my appointment back and accommodate me so that I would still receive my full 60 minutes. At no point before or during the massage was I informed that my session would be cut short. Letting a guest believe they are getting their full service and then ending early without any communication feels unprofessional. When I contacted them about all of this, the only thing offered was a complimentary add-on for a future visit. but only if I book and pay for another full-price massage. After already spending over $220 and being this unhappy, I don't find it reasonable to be asked to come back and spend another $200 just to receive a small add-on for free. A partial or full refund for the actual massage would have been far more appropriate. I have since been ignored. Overall, this experience did not match the premium price at all. I left sore, stressed, and disappointed. I would not recommend Spavia Elmhurst based on this visit.

I had never done a spray tan before, & Amanda made it easy - from scheduling, to preparing, to the actual event. It turned out really beautiful, looked natural, & lasted for my out-of-town event. Additionally, Amanda does a lot of body work & noticed during my spray tan that I was having shoulder issues. My right shoulder had been bothering me for some time, & she was the first to tell me without even touching my shoulder that I had rotator cuff issues. After seeing an ortho & getting an MRI, it turns out she was exactly right. I haven't seen her for a massage, but I definitely need to give her a try.

I found Amanda by typing in "spray tan oak park" and feel so lucky that google sent me her way. For starters, scheduling was an absolute breeze. I was wary of texting the number but got a prompt response. It was beyond thoughtful of her to ask why and when I needed to be event ready and she advised the best timing to be sure I'd look and feel my best. Mind you - I had a less than 48 hour window before I had to be good to go. In my experience, it can be rare for someone with the setup and professionalism of Amanda to be able to book on such short notice, let alone for a Friday in the midst of late summer/early fall wedding season. She directed me to her website which clearly lists the standard prep for best results. On arrival, Amanda explained everything that would happen from start to finish then went on to narrate why she was doing what she was doing at each step. She was kind and professional and made me feel very at ease and even finished off with a dusting of homemade powder that smelled fricken DIVINE and ensured I made it back to my car sweat free! While developing, I noted that the formula she used is one of the least smelly I've ever had applied. No small feat considering the beautiful color I got to. I'm lucky to live close by but she travels and I would recommend her to any family member or friend looking to add a little color. Will definitely be a repeat spray tan client with Amanda and very interested to explore the variety of services she offers.
