The farm itself is beautiful -- peaceful pastures, happy animals, and stunning views all around. We loved learning about their farming practices and seeing firsthand how much care goes into everything they do. The products are top quality -- from the fresh meats and eggs to their homemade goods, everything tastes amazing and feels wholesome. Whether you're visiting for a tour, a farm stay, or just to pick up some products, you can really feel the love and hard work that goes into this place. Highly recommend for anyone who appreciates great food, sustainability, and genuine hospitality!

We went on the farm tour this weekend. Stone & Thistle is a sustainable/organic farm, and I've read…read morementions about them over the past several years, so I was really looking forward to seeing their farm up close. The tour is geared to children, which is fine, but most of the adults were either uninterested in the information presented during the tour or bored by the somewhat simplistic topics. The tour guide was very nice and knowledgeable, and when I asked more specific questions, she was always willing to talk more in depth. Overall, I think the tour is still worth taking, but it's most appropriate for people with young children. The owner of the farm -I can't remember her name- could use some pointers on public relations, however. She started off the tour by lecturing everyone on the merits of sustainable farming, then complained about the FDA regulations concerning the labels "certified" organic and "grass fed" beef. She railed on about how the local creamery stopped working with her for several reasons, and how they are now planning to build their own creamery on the farm but haven't been able to raise the money, etc. I got the feeling she is one of those people who sees a conspiracy and roadblocks in everything. (Note: I am aware of the issues she was complaining about, and agree with her on most things, but I think that most people who come to her farm are already concerned about their food source and are aware of the political issues surrounding food production, but people don't like to feel lectured to) To top it off, after her speech I complimented her on a new addition to the farmhouse by saying that I was an architect and that I liked the modern yet sensitive addition. She launched into a 10 minute diatribe about how Architects are "not necessary" and how the one she hired screwed her over. I politely pointed out (again) that I was an architect, thinking that maybe she would stop insulting my profession to my face, and suggested that obviously she hired the wrong architect; but no, she didn't take the hint. I was literally aghast and didn't know what to say. I've rarely met someone as tone deaf to other people as she is. It's a shame because I would like to try the dinner or brunch at their new restaurant, but there's no way I would come back and deal with her again.

Always great quality and always exactly what I am looking for. Jeff and his family are always willing to help me out when I am looking for something different. Given they get their supplies wholesale, I am not disappointed when they cannot. After all, it is a small town and not everyone cooks and eats what I ask for. We often call ahead for special sized cuts, or if I am looking for a bulk order. If I call early enough in the day I can pick them up by that afternoon. Otherwise, they will be ready by the day and hour they tell you. On the customer side of the counters is a perfect supply of the daily needs... milk, bread, condiments, snacks, some fresh vegetables, and most other general cooking needs. A perfect stop on the way home from work to get those quick-grab-staples. Their pre-prepped meals (chicken cordon bleu, stuffed porkchops, marinated chicken breasts, bbq ribs, etc.) and premade sides (potato salads, mac salads, tortellini salads, etc.) are consistently available and nicely done. Their recipes are well seasoned and ready to eat, but easily adapted in your own kitchen to hit that flavor your mom used to make. From the deli, the Boar's Head deli meats and cheeses are always as expected, but don't miss out on their own baked/roasted meats. They are without a doubt competing against their BH meats. When it is time for a sandwich, their subs are one of the best in the area. My only gripe would be that the rolls they use for the subs are not on the bread rack for me to buy and take home. I will admit though, I have never asked to buy them. Always a great experience. I have added several photos of meals we have prepared using Syron's products.
