This was once my favorite cleaner in Bloomington. But last June, I brought my clerical robes in for cleaning. They completely ruined my white one - totally unusable. The owner promised to pay for its replacement, even though I told him it was quite expensive (and custom ordered). I've tried multiple times, with documentation, to get the reimbursement for the robe (which is an essential item for my work). Not only have I not received reimbursement, he hasn't even responded. My advice: beware of bringing expensive items here. They may be ruined, and you won't be able to get reimbursement. read more

I am updating this and changing the score from a 2-star to a 1-star; as I looked closer at the dress after putting it on, I noticed a bunch of stains. It is quite obvious they didn't even clean my dress. This is what I said prior to my update: I brought in a blazer and a dress to get dry cleaned. They didn't do the blazer because they were worried the leather patches would get ruined in their machine, so they lint rolled and pressed it for me without charge (thanks!). They also got the food stains out of my dress (though I probably could have done so with some soap and water). The reason I am giving them such a low review, however, is because it is quite clear my dress was never pressed after getting dry cleaned. It is as wrinkled as it was before I brought it in. Additionally, the dress had remnants of the dry cleaning product on it that I had to brush off. Besides the removal of the easy stains, the dress, quite frankly, looks like crap. read more

The only reason I can give Bloomington Cleaners a 2-star review (instead of 1) is that when they're cleaning and pressing dress pants, they do a decent job. Dress shirts, on the other hand, are a different story. One of the shirts I picked up yesterday had one arm that had literally only been pressed down to the elbow. The remainder was horribly wrinkled (I would post pics on this review if I could). They can't seem to master the process of pressing shirts and then bagging them for return without wrinkling/creasing at least half of them. When I get home after picking up 5-7 shirts that they have laundered/pressed, it is with the expectation that I'll need to either touch up or completely re-iron several of them. I own an iron, but it's disappointing that I need to use it on garments that I have just paid the "professionals" at Bloomington Cleaners to take care of properly. I like having the convenience of using their drop-off location on E 3rd St, but I'm afraid it's probably time to find another cleaner who takes some more pride in their work. read more

The worst service I have ever experienced. I worked with them once and things went well. However, for the past 3 days I've been trying to get ahold of the delivery man to pick up my clothing and he hasn't responded to my texts, calls. Nothing. Then I called the actual store and they told me they'd call him and then call me back right away with an answer and they never did. Don't trust or work with these people- save yourself the time. I had BAD experiences at this dry cleaner service. Yes, they are quite fast -- indeed, too fast (and too careless), for I got back several items of clothing with DIME-SIZED holes in them where there used to be none. How does this even happen?! Several garments were completely ruined after I took them to this place. When I mentioned the issue with the cleaners, they refused to pay to replace the items, claiming the holes were there when I dropped them off. Not true. Not only are they bad at their jobs, they are also liars. Never again. read more

I went to this cleaners because I liked the fact that they use more environment- and people-friendly chemicals than most. But after they seriously damaged my brand new formal dress and then proceeded to avoid me and not keep their promises regarding resolving the situation, I will never go back. Long story short, I took in a dress with a beaded strip on the back. When the beading was damaged during cleaning (it got some sort of haze on it) they informed me that they sent my dress to be repaired. It was then being repaired for several weeks, and I got updates on its status only if I called to ask. This is in spite of the fact that I eventually asked the owner to call me once per week with an update regardless, which he said he would do--and it never happened. I *finally* got my dress back, but the originally classy sort of glossy dark gray beading had been replaced by very tacky black and white beading (taking it into the range of beading I would never wear). After I realized this I went back to ask for some sort of compensation, since I would either need to take it somewhere else to be properly fixed so that I could wear it or just give up on a brand new and not cheap dress. The owner agreed to reimburse me for half of my purchase price, which would be around $75, and to send me a check in the mail. Since it is now several months since that conversation, I'm guessing that the check isn't coming. The fact that I was blown off like this, and that the owner made promises he seemed to have no intention of keeping, is almost worse than the fact that they ruined my dress. read more

I've had very good service here probably 85% of the time, extraordinary extras once or twice, but they really blew it on a couple of occasions, once when it mattered a lot. I picked up my interview suit from them only to find that they had torn the lining in the back so badly that raw fabric edges were hanging out of the jacket. I discovered this, naturally, when took the suit out of the cleaner bag on the morning of a job interview. I did what I could with safety pins, but I was not a happy camper. If you carefully check over your cleaned clothes before you leave the premises, you'll probably be ok, because they are quite friendly and will make things right if you ask them. But because someone there screwed up when it really mattered to me, they lost my business. read more

I recently bought a new suit to wear for post-graduation job interviews. I was very happy with the service until I got home and saw that they stabbed a safety pin through the back of my coat when they really could have just pinned it to the inside material or clothing label. My new, expensive and only suit jacket (a big and important investment for a college student) now has puncture wounds. I paid for the services to feel professional but now all I feel is regret and like I need to avoid letting the interviewers see my back. Why would they put a pin that thick through a material that thinly knit on the middle of a professional suit jacket?? Further inspection of the coat shows one 6in crease and another 2in one. One half of the interior is also severely wrinkled. I should have just wiped it down myself, had a friend iron it and called it a day. That way I would have saved money and two trips to the cleaners. As for the minor dirt mark on my light pants that I specifically asked them to remove and they said they would mark? Well, it's still there. read more

I know people seem to love this place, but I've been in twice now and am consistently unimpressed. My very nice Tahari dress just came back to me covered in sweater fuzz--I guess it had been cleaned, but they bagged it right next to an admittedly fuzzy sweater, so obviously it got fuzzed. The same fuzzy sweater also lost a zipper pull while getting cleaned - I just tried to put it on, and the zipper pull is just gone. Last time I got a bunch of cleaning back--two dresses, some sweaters, and a skirt--there was nothing obviously wrong, but things just weren't very...crisp. I'm unimpressed. They're fine, but I'll be exploring other options moving forward. read more

It seems like I'm not the only one that has noticed that their customer service has gone straight downhill. My past two experience with Bloomington Cleaners have ended in frustration. About a month ago I went to pick up my dry cleaning and found my suit coat in the corner of the store (the corner of the store!!) dirty and damaged. Today was the last straw, when I as was laughed at and told that the items left in my pocket had probably been thrown away, despite the fact that I called an hour after I dropped my dry cleaning off. I will never set foot in Bloomington Cleaners again. Dry cleaning is dry cleaning. Avoid Bloomington Cleaners at all cost. read more

I brought my new winter coat in because it had mud on it. I was knocked backwards by some dogs while walking my dog right after I bought it. The mud was less than a week old. I used to work at a dry cleaner in town and new this was not a hard stain to get out. I pointed the stains out and explained them. Came back several days later and picked the coat up. Got home and not only were the stains still there but when I scratched them mud flaked off. And there was still dog hair on the coat. This told me it was NOT cleaned. I took it back and explained the issue and was told they would clean it again for free. Came to pick it up a second time and to my shock it still had the stains and had fur on it. Working in a dry cleaner before I know that you roll the clothes with a tape roller and pre treat stains. Neither had been done. I doubt they even cleaned it at all. I explained all this and was told to leave it a third time. I asked for my money back and was refunded. Then I took it down the street to Spring dry cleaner. The coat came out clean and stain free. I think Bloomington cleaners is a scam and do not recommend to anyone! Only good thing I can say is they did refund my money. read more
