The only negative is that making a left turn out of here onto Blue Hills Ave Northbound is about as easy as herding cats.

I fuel up here because I find there gas is actually just a little bit cheaper versus another station which is actually a little closer to where I live. It's not that much, but in this economy every bit counts! There's a Subway inside and I do order from there on occassion if I'm in a hurry for lunch, but usually I just come here to fuel up. Most of the time I try to come here early in the morning when it's not to busy or before rush hour, but there are plenty of pumps available and you don't usually have to wait. Again, the key is getting there early in the a.m., if you are able to. The only thing which I really hate, and this is not even their fault is that it seems downright impossible at certain times of the day to turn back onto Blue Hills which is obviously a major, busy roadway. But I just plan my day and my other errands around this so I don't have to deal with that issue.

Typically, I don't review gas stations but this one is pretty new, clean, and large. There's an electric vehicle charging station, diesel, gasoline, and a Dunkin attached. When we went, the drive through was not ready yet but it looks like there will be one. There are restrooms and plenty of snacks and drinks to choose from. They also serve coffee, breakfast, grinders, and ice cream.

"Pick out a pleasant outlook Stick out that noble chin…read moreWipe off that full-of-doubt look Slap on a happy grin" (Tony Bennet) Day Hill Road has so many unoccupied stretches, it was great to see a big shiny and quite gigantic transportation and convenience center just open at 2200 Day Hill Road, roughly between Blue Hills Avenue and the I-91 ramps. They've just been open for two weeks and offered a rock-bottom gas price of just $2.89 a gallon. Oh, and by the way, they have an incredibly sweet number of 16 gas pumps. It was one of my cheapest fill ups in quite a while. After I gassed up, I went inside to check out the store and buy a lottery ticket. Well, they've been open for such a short time they're not quite ready to start pumping out those tickets yet. Their spacious convenience store was neat as a pin and stocked to overflowing, and I saw a Dunkin' counter way off to the left. The young lady at the convenience store register was personable and very friendly when I chatted with her about the place. Noble's website says they are "a Connecticut-based business bringing high-end automobile re-fueling centers to New England". There's a few of them around Hartford and spread across the state. Some have carwashes and EV charging stations, but I think it's too early to see what the Day Hill location will end up with. I saw that Noble is also building a Truck Service and Diesel center pretty much next door at 1966 Day Hill Road. They are a very welcome addition to Day Hill Road and all of its office buildings and commuters.

"In the middle of the night Is that your heart you hear…read moreHave you reached your breaking point tonight?" {The Moody Blues) It's about the same size as your Cumberland Farms or Pride gas station/convenience stores but........it has ice cream! Let's start with the gas station aspect, and I have to admit it is sure nice to have another gas station option in Bloomfield. Break Point has 4 gas islands with two pumps on each island. Today, Regular gas was $3.199 for both cash and credit purchases. The gasoline area is kind of tight, especially when consumers park in front of the convenience store's side door, so be careful pulling up to, or leaving the pumps. Inside, the store is very neatly stocked, and the personnel were super friendly. We made a beeline to the ice cream counter and perused their 28 flavors of hard scooped ice cream. A small dish (4-ounce) was $5.25. If we had gone for a bigger portion, 6-ounce or 8-ounce would have cost $7.25 or $9.25. I decided on a small dish of their PB Chip Swirl, and my wife asked for some Coconut and Banana in her small dish. I'm not sure where their ice crem comes from, but it was excellent. The Peanut Butter, Coconut and Banana flavors really popped! Bloomfield Break Point has a pretty cool social media footprint and a wonderful logo consisting of a sunglasses-wearing hot dog holding an ice cream cone and a cup of coffee in its itty-bitty hot dog hands. Why does the logo feature a hot dog? Well, Bloomfield Break Point promises to have "café-style eats and signature hot dogs". They haven't been open long enough to get the hot dogs up and running, but it will be interesting to see what that future component looks like. We had a very positive visit today.

Today, regular gasoline was $3.07, which is an OK price. Average sized convenience store inside, and one weird thing I noticed was NONE of the groceries on the shelves were marked with a price. So, if you want a jar of mayo or a can of soup, you'll find out the price at the register. The very best thing about this BP station is Eli's Deli which occupies a nook in the front left corner of the building.
