I would not recommend April for extensions. I've worn extensions for years, and unfortunately my experience was very disappointing. I've attached photos of how my hair was left after multiple appointments. I came in to fix my extensions and left needing both extension corrections and a color correction. After spending thousands of dollars, I'm now paying another stylist to fix the work.

    Extension install

As other reviews state, I also really wanted to love Bloom. I heard from a friend this place is great! I called up the salon and asked for a consultation with a stylist expert in blondes and extensions. TLDR: I've never left a negative review for a salon before nor ever on Yelp, but I feel it's important to share my experience. The extension install unfortunately caused significant scalp damage including tension sores, irritation, and extreme hair breakage. I brought up the pain early on along with concern of damage and wasn't taken seriously. Eventually, I had to get the extensions removed from the stylist, Ciara. The partial refund to offset the cost of corrective treatment never arrived. ---‐-- As I felt it was strange to be told it would be painful/sore for up to 2 weeks and to take OTC pain reliever, I asked 2 different stylists to look at my install. (I'm totally new to this and intially wanted to give Ciara the benefit of the doubt.) I was told the following: "Those are tension sores from over direction of the hair in the beadwork... the beads are pulling too tight, and not enough hair in the beads. The beads are also too close to the scalp and too many wefts for per row of hair. Seek corrective treatment ASAP before alopecia sets in and ask the Bloom stylist to remove them. The hair was over processed from the base lift and bleach that caused significant breakage. The hair was compromised after the color treatment, and the poor extension install caused more intense breakage. The salon should have seen this after the first move up that the extensions needed to be taken out." I also felt uncomfortable during my appointment as the stylists were openly gossiping about other clients in front of me. When I respectfully asked for a partial refund to offset the cost of damage for repair, I was met with defensiveness instead of concern. The management team said the stylist is a renter and we'd have to settle together, even though I was ushered to this stylist by their salon in the first place. I spent about $1500 during March-April (2 bags of hair, installs, 2 color appointments) and was offered (but never sent) $125 refund. The services promised did not render the anticipated result and as such, I had to get a very short hair cut, pay for corrective treatments, and am still healing from the tension sores. Everyone deserves to feel safe, heard, and respected at a salon. I hope my experience helps others make informed decisions and if you love your hair, please consider elsewhere. "Ur hair sucks" after coming to Bloom.

Both mine and my daughter's hair were ruined in the same week. Needless to say I had to reverse some money from my bank but was only able to get one payment back. I'm out $160 and my daughters and my hair look horrible. Daughters has a large color band and looks like is hasn't been done in months when in actuality it was just done. And mine is brassy and orange not the blonde and brown I asked for.

Had to cut all of my hair off after a year of trying to save it

The first time I saw Kiley Mclean (@Kilzhair), I had a good experience. I got my hair trimmed by her, and my bangs cut, and I walked out of that appointment happy. My friend vouched for her skills and assured me she did a wonderful job when it came to bleaching hair, so I decided to make an appointment with her to get my hair bleached. Over the past six years, I had grown my hair completely virgin intending to go blonde with the smoothest transition and the least amount of damage possible. The first time I had my hair bleached with Kiley, it was okay. I didn't expect my hair to be blonde immediately, and I knew it was a process, but I walked out with banded highlights with brassy roots. When she was pulling my foils and brushing my hair, at the bowl it was so incredibly painful, but I figured it was normal, considering I haven't had my hair dyed in 6 years. I didn't have a frame of reference, but I later learned it should never be that painful. I did mention it hurt, but the rough brushing didn't improve. I gave her the benefit of the doubt, and we scheduled a follow-up appointment a little over a month later. During this appointment, she told me we could get close to my inspiration picture. She bleached my hair, and I was admittedly concerned with how long the bleach was sitting on my hair, but I thought to myself, "Hey, what do I know? im not a professional," and I let her do her thing. When she took out my foils, I was initially excited because my hair was practically white. My heart sank when I saw how stringy and stretchy it was, and so much of it was coming off in chunks. When she took the foils off my bangs, a huge chunk came off with the foils. When I gasped, she said, "Don't worry, that is normal." There was no way a huge chunk of my bangs falling off was normal. After all of that, she toned my hair to a super dark grey with a green tint. I asked her why it was so dark. She assured me that it would lighten up when she dried it. It absolutely did not lighten. As she blow-dried my hair, the floor was covered in a fine dust of my breakage. I let her know I was very disappointed with how dark my hair was toned, especially with how light it was bleached. She assured me the toner would fade to a cute ashy blonde in about four washes. It did not. Instead, it turned into a swampy green color. I spent the next year trying to nurse my hair back to health and spending thousands on hair care and treatments. Every time I brushed or washed my hair, tons of it would break off. I lost my bangs entirely after a few washes. Other stylists who treated my hair were shocked by how horrible Kiley's work was. Eventually, after a year of fighting for my hair's health, I had to come to terms with the fact that it was damaged beyond saving, and I had to cut it all off. The length of my hair was down to my belt. Now, I have shoulder-length hair. Kiley was the single most devastating thing that happened to my hair. I will include a picture of what my hair looked like before, during, and Immediately after the damage and length loss.

I've been going to April for the past 8 years! She has made all my hair goals come true!! I have had the thinnest hair my whole life and never knew I could get my hair to where it is today! I could never go to anyone else. If you're looking for someone who is a professional in blonde or extensions, this is the place to go. AND the studio and all the workers are the cutest!!

Front half the same, back purple and pink.

I have never written a review or a Yelp before in my life because I understand sometimes mistakes happen and sometimes customer service is tough. But here is my story. I was on time for my 12 o'clock appointment and so was my technician. That was the only thing that went right with this appointment, this was a series of service failures that I will do my best to describe. We discussed my hair. I had long blonde hair and what I would like done. I decided on a red window in the back and the rest of my hair I wanted mostly blond with some warm red highlights. Two and a 1/2 hours later the technician is still not done with the foils. I'm guessing that my hair was processing faster than sher was working because she took me to the sink to take out some of the foils, mind you, she is still not finished filing the rest of my hair, I have 2 days off a week and I don't enjoy spending 6 hours of it in a chair as my hair being turned into clown red, purple and shades of pink. What's worse than having clown colors in your hair? Only having the back half of your head being those chilis with no changes at all to the grey and dark regrowth around my face. At this point I understand that my hair is NOT anywhere near what we had discussed. I make a judgment call and cancel the cut and style that was supposed to happen next. The next morning I went into speak with the owner, she picked up a couple strands looked at me dismissively and said you don't like this shade of red? I was dumbfounded it is shockingly Violet purple. She was dismissive at best. The owner advised sher would call me that evening. What I got was a message from the technician that turned my hair purple. Asking when I would like to reschedule with her. I informed the owner when she contacted me 2 days later that I am not interested in the person that turned my hair purple doing my hair again. She said it would be a good learning experience for the technician and if I wanted to have it fixed it would have to be with thr stylist who did it because she felt it would be a good learning experience. At this point I ask for a refund of my 172.00. At this point the owner offered to do my hair herself. We made an appointment for what I thought was 430 but by mistake I had the time 30 minutes later. The owner informed me I had missed my appt time and she would not be able to do my hair until after Thanksgiving. So I asked for a refund again. I was informed they don't give full refunds only half refunds. It was not half my hair that was a joke it was my whole head. I needed the whole refund because anywhere else I'm going to go is going to cost at least that much to get it presentable. I had never heard of a half refund policy anywher else But apparently at her salon if they mess up your whole head of hair you can expect to only get half the money back that you spent, none of the time and if you look like a joke it's your problem.

it seems she has been trying to delete my original review so here's a new one…read more first of all i am honored to receive the famous "hope u heal" line u reserve for all ur bad reviews. guys this is an example of her condescending tone since our original call. i also want to say that although i do think Ariana's read on the situation was spot on and perfectly articulated, i had absolutely nothing to do with it. she is a complete stranger. if i were recruiting people to leave reviews, u would have more than just one couple things in response to ur last message: - a haircut this bad should be obvious to someone claiming to be a professional. - I dont think being a loyal customer entitles me to a refund, i think a bad haircut does. - i only mention being a recurring customer to emphasize 2 things-- the way you treat loyal clients with a **good track record**, and lost revenue for a business who *themselves* stated cannot afford a refund. - I was very careful to specifically not use the word shelf and that was intentional. - Ive had big short hair, i've had two wolf cuts, & i know how to style it. I would never request a jelly or anything resembling one. ever. (not that that's what this is) - I didn't request a blow-out. I was OFFERED one. Maybe it's not something y'all should offer in the first place if u will blame clients for accepting and use it to deny refund. - I wasn't shown the back of my hair, esp. not in final form. being in front of mirrors does not change that. this is low IQ. - I nearly accepted ur "resolution" bc u gave me no other option and i was genuinely trying to work with you. but ultimately, like i tried explaining on the phone, it would not have actually solved anything for me. simple as that. - yes actually... I did leave satisfied.. bc I didn't notice? and it's almost as if... that's the whole issue ???? hello ?? i want to make it clear that although i was preparing for a chargeback, i remained very polite and still tried my best to resolve this directly with the salon. i even tried to meet her halfway by suggesting a partial refund but she was not making the same effort, and became progressively rude. It's clear we're operating from fundamentally different premises. maybe that's the root of the problem here. Your position is that there's nothing wrong with the haircut itself and that I don't know how to style it. ok, I'll bite. for the sake of argument, let's assume that's true.... It still doesn't change the fact that this is objectively not the haircut I asked for or agreed to receive. on that basis alone, I am owed a refund due to service not as described. it doesn't matter if u think u can "make it better". improving something bad doesn't make it good, just makes it less bad. if you had any ground (or documentation) to stand on, u wouldn't have lost the case. having a "policy" does not mean you can do whatever you want. There must be exceptions for certain cases when mistakes are made. and you need to have discernment to know the difference from when someone's abusing the system. but that requires competency (in your field and in life), humility, and good faith. when a customer has been wronged, the burden should never fall on them to figure out a resolution that works for the business. It should be the other way around. why do i even have to explain this. If I were in your position, I would be mortified to hear a customer had this experience. my priority would be to understand what would make the situation right for them and do everything reasonably possible to make that happen. I personally would have offered a refund AND an adjustment. But ironically, that means taking accountability... fortunately for all of us, u have proven it yourself that you have never been capable of this (just a quick search to see how you respond to every bad review on here and Google) and to assume premeditation/malice is a really disappointing take on this situation and makes zero sense. why or how on earth would i plan to have a bad haircut? but if that's what were doing, i can do the same.... maybe you offer blow-outs for plausible deniability on haircuts gone wrong? maybe i wasn't shown the back on purpose so i wouldn't notice? i agree there are no winners or losers here, because at the end of the day i'd rather have my hair than a refund. but because i was so polite throughout the situation, you took advantage and at the end basically shoo'd me away & expected no consequence. the last text message you sent me speaks for itself. even a stranger was upset for me. by the way... I reiterated my points via email, not to rehash anything, but to have it all in writing for the case :) i've attached photos of my original review from Google, KJ's response from Yelp, and Ariana's review as well because it tickles me and they threatened to take it dow.

I booked a manicure and pedicure and asked in advance how long the appointment would take because I had a medical appointment afterward. She told me it would take three hours, but after nearly five hours, my nails still weren't finished no polish or design so we agreed I'd come back the next day to finish. I still paid the full amount (over $150) because I trusted her and wanted to show good faith. However, she didn't respond to me the next day as agreed, and I didn't hear back from her all weekend. When she finally reached out at the end of the weekend, she said she had lost her phone, but instead of scheduling me for that Monday, she told me I'd have to wait an entire week. I had a medical emergency come up that week (which I had already told her about before even booking), and unfortunately had to cancel. When I reached out again to try and reschedule, she said she wouldn't be redoing the service and that she "doesn't do free work" even though the service was never finished in the first place. The only "solution" offered was to take off the price of a nail art design next time, even though she previously told me she doesn't charge extra for that anyway. She also tried to say the reason the appointment took so long was because I didn't know what nail design I wanted, but that's simply not true. I picked my design while she was still filing and prepping my nails, before she was even finished with that step. It felt like she was using that as an excuse to shift the blame for poor time management. In the end, I paid over $150 and walked away with incomplete work and a lot of frustration. I value small businesses, but I also value honesty and professionalism. I showed up respectfully and in good faith, but unfortunately I wouldn't book w Bailey again based on how this was handled. Especially, when I go out of my way to tip +15-25$ after every service!
