Our server finally showed up. Took 5 mins to get water and another 10 to get our drink order. Then 40 mins latter still no food. The people who sat behind us arrived after us had their food and by the time we got our food they were done. All the while our server never came to our table. I flagged a busboy asked him to find our server and asked to see a manager. By this time we had already been there over an hour. The shift manager show up before our food and rather than apologize for the poor service he proceeded to tell us the excuses for why our food has taken so long. I finally got tired of his excuses I said "stop making excuses and get us our food". A few minutes later the food showed up. No silverware, salt/pepper, ketchup or drink refills. Again asked a bus person to help. Waitress never came back. After a few minutes the General Manager came out accused us of being disrespectful to his server and shift manager and proceeded to start swearing at us. We never said anything to the server and the only thing I said to the shift manager was stop making excuses and get our food. The GM again never acknowledged the poor service and accused us of swearing and being disrespectful. Never listened to us and asked us to leave. The layout of the store is kind of strange and crowded, so it was difficult to maneuver the large cart at times. It took me a bit to find some items since this isn't my regular grocery store, but I was able to find 99% of the stuff on my list. I didn't see many employees around to ask for help finding things. The garden center was a similar situation with only one person who looked to be working there. I wasn't sure which hanging baskets were for sun vs. shade, but some were labeled. They had tons of flowers, vegetables, and other plants available for sale. I can't really comment on pricing since I'm not the plant person in my household, but I'd rather support a local business like Ken's over Lowe's or some other big box store.

They recently added some food to the menu which I think was a fun addition. It's bar food but well priced IMO. The staff have always been soooo incredibly kind and supportive of the local community. You can tell that they really value the people who come in and make a concerted effort to get to know everyone. I have only had good experiences talking with them and they always are good to remember me and give me a warm welcome. They do have a small parking lot and there's a park across the street in case anything gets filled! I definitely recommend checking out some local music here or attending one of the collabs with the Cheese Lady next door.

All of the vendors that I've met have been really kind and fair-priced if not sometimes cheaper than big stores. The social media accounts will often tell you what vendors will be at the market each day and I think that can be really helpful! There's free parking which is really nice but the market does get busy VERY quickly. I know the Saturday markets during the summer can be suuuper busy so I'd recommend going early or knowing you may need to walk.

I've been going to Grange Fruit Farm for the past few years for seasonal fruit picking. I love…read morecherry season in West Michigan, and it's back! Grange just opened the last week of June for sweet cherry u-pick. I went at 9 am on a Friday when they opened and picked almost 4 pounds in 30 minutes. The employees are always friendly and helpful. They'll give you however many buckets you want (each bucket holds about 5 pounds) and direct you to the picking area. I had fun trying each of the three varieties they had available: cavalier, black pearl, and white gold. They post on social media when each variety is ready to pick. Sour cherries usually come a bit later in July, but I prefer having lots of sweet cherries to eat. As of June 2025, U-pick cherries are $2.90 per pound. You can also buy pre-picked cherries, as well as other items at their farm stand. They take cash and credit cards. The parking area is a bit small, but I've always just gotten there early so I'm not sure if they have an overflow parking area anywhere. I'm looking forward to hopefully coming for blueberry season next!
