We were in the area for the (in)famous National Road/Route 40 Yard Sales and wanted a cold drink and something to eat. On entering around 1:30 pm on a Thursday, there were two couples standing at the unattended "please wait to be seated" sign, and I observed about half the tables in the front dining room had guests; the other half were covered with dirty dishes. Not wanting to spend an excessive amount of time, I peeked around the corner and observed two open seats at the small bar, so we took them instead. We had to move a dirty plate and glass over to the end of the bar. After about six minutes of sitting there with no bartender appearing we decided to just get a drink, and go elsewhere later for food. Finally a gal approached us, and it seemed that she was the only staff member on duty for both dining rooms and the bar. She was nice enough, but it was disappointing that she couldn't have just removed the dirty dishes which were six inches from my husband's elbow, not to mention the bar wasn't wiped down. The dishes were still there when we left. We caught her passing through after a while to ask for the tab, which was $7.77. My husband put down a $20 bill and she brought back $12.00. Now I realize some places are in a state of panic hysteria over "penny shortages" but you don't just round UP a guest's tab and certainly not by almost a quarter. Some places give you a discount for cash; this one penalizes you. The decor is nice, rustic and countrified. I don't know how the food is obviously. As we were leaving I noticed the front dining room tables still hadn't been cleared and we were there about 20 minutes. read more

The Briscuit nachos. What chip is this?! Is is like deep fried Pringles maybe, covered in queso, and delicious smoked Briscuit. I did without the jalepenos today, wasn't feeling spicy. We have been to this restaurant two times now. It is a sports bar, there is a lot of room for a lot of people. Nice TVs. The food the first time was great the second time not so much. I think I just ordered the wrong thing. I got the fish and chips and the waitress told me that I should come on grouper night. I think that's what we had the first time and it was really good. The Cuban Grilled Cheese was good, but they charged me $1 extra for the onion rings. I looked again at the menu and it gave several choices as the side with sandwiches. Onion rings was one of them and it never stated that they were extra. I realize it's just $1, but it's just the principle! Don't charge for things you're not telling people up front about. Also they gave me 4 onion rings so they were an extra quarter each. I brought this to the waitresses attention and she did nothing about it. Stopped here with a large party tonight. The food and service was excellent! We have eaten at many very "fancy" steakhouses and the filet we had this evening was incredibly tender and cooked perfectly. Probably one of the best steaks I've ever had. Oh boy I've been meaning to write a review at this fantastic restaurant. I have had had nothing but great experiences at this restaurant. Some of my favorite items are the pulled pork nachos that not only have a great amount of meat and toppings but are made with homemade kettle chips that combined with everything else are out of this world. I also enjoy the pretzel bite with the pub beer cheese that is another hit that are quick and easy to order and eat on the go. So far I've not had a bad experience there all of the staff are very kind whether you are dining in or stopping in for carryout. When ordering my food yesterday I had to pleasure of having Shannon help us and she was very kind very professional and even went above and beyond and putting extra silverware and napkins in with are to go order. I really hope this restaurant stands the test of time and does not go anywhere as it is a really nice place and a great choice for dining options in a smaller town. If you are local then you know it's right across from the livestock cell Barn and if you are driving through it is on US 40 right right as you're entering town if you're heading east and right as you're leaving town if you're heading west. Block and Brew is a newer restaurant located just off of 40 in Knightstown (a very small town south of New Castle & also known for the Hoosier Gym). We stopped by on a Thursday night to check it out. It's a small, more intimate sports bar & pub. They've done a great job remodeling the place and I love the fireplace and rustic wooden walls inside. It is family-friendly as well! We dined on the Grilled Cuban and Brisket Reuben. I especially like their "fries" which remind me of larger-sized homemade curly fries + potato wedges. My husband said the Brisket Reuben was "unique" and the brisket very good! They have a lot of smoked meat opinions, like the brisket and pulled pork. The Cuban was good and very filling (I couldn't finish it) but I did need some sort of sauce for it (I am all about the condiments). Great stop, clean establishment, and good service. Not the Ritz, but the Ritz would not go over well here! This is great food & service (Server was Emily), hidden in a very unassuming exterior, in the last place you would naturally look for it. All the quality of a high end eatery in the city but down home. We don't drink so I can't speak to the bar, but this is the first place where we have found a soda with Zero Sugar since Covid-19 hit. Mske sure to Ask for a steak knife if ordering chicken. Servers are attentive and friendly. Food was delicious. We thought the prices were comparable to any other chain steak restaurant .i.e. Texas Road House.. We also tried the salted Carmel brownie which was great. Decided to visit after a middle school basketball game as I have driven by plenty of times and never gotten to stop. First off, there is plenty of parking given where the location sits. Walking in the door, you are welcomed rite off the bat by a burning fire by the door, which will warm you up fast if you are near it. Originally I was worried that it would pretty dark inside being that there are not very many windows. This is not true, as the lighting is bright, but the restaurants do bar are both warm, and comfortable. The staff is very friendly, and very responsive to questions. The menu is very clear and to the point, which I love as your not guessing what something is! I went for the 8oz sirloin, unfortunately the 8 oz was out, but they offered the 6 oz which I was fine with. I paired it with the grilled green beans and baked potato. The food service was fast, as it only took about 10 minutes to get my meal. The steak had great taste and seasoning, as I didn't use any sauce, and the green beans were cooked to perfection. I decided to treat myself to the brownie for desert, but unfortunately they were out as well. So on the direction of the staff I went for the chocolate covered cheesecake. This was another good selection, and I did enjoy it! Overall I chose 4 stars just because they were out of 3 things that I was wanting, but again gave 4 stars as they always had a recommendation instead of just walking away. Food is priced fair and of good quality! Fabulous little steakhouse for the area. Most little towns like Knightstown don't have places like this. There's a good variety on the menu. All of our food was great, and the prices were reasonable (All the beef is market priced). Service was very good too. I was recommended this restaurant by the staff at the local family campground. It has a casual feel, my party of 3 ordered steak, pulled pork, and I had a large salad. We ended up passing each other parts or our dinners for each to taste, it was all so good. Nice portions, done to order. The staff is very friendly, good beer selection. What a great find near home! This place was perfect to indulge with great food on Fat Tuesday! Keaton was a great server and highly recommended the brisket nachos. They were delicious paired with a Samuel Adams for the hubby and a pear cider for myself. We would have been satisfied with sharing that huge platter for our dinner. My husband ordered the fish with a side of 4cheese Mac & cheese which was very tasty. I ordered the mushroom gravy smothered pork chop with cheesy mashed potatoes. The chop was tender and seasoned so well it did not need the gravy. Both our meals included salads with delicious dressings (tasted homemade). We are each leaving with half or meals in to go boxes. Great menu, Good drink selection. The Bison Strip is very flavorful and cooked just as you ask. The pork steak is a nice portion about 3/4 inch thick. Very tasty served with a equally tasty mushroom sauce. (I reccomend it on the side) The grilled cheese was created for adults for sure, with kids enjoying it just as much. For the sides: the grilled asparagus is a must, the side winder potatoes are like a cross between steak fries and curly fries. The mac & cheese is definitely better then average. When visiting the area again, we would really enjoy coming back. They are still relatively new and getting all their cards in place, this will be 5 stars once the few kinks are worked out.
