3.5-4 Experience. I was so nervous to try this because all the other Blo franchises have such terrible reviews. But my girlfriend tried this before and her hair was awesome so I decided to do this for a wedding. I arrived 10 mins early for my appointment and didn't have to wait long at all. I didn't even catch my stylists name but she was super friendly and talkative. I picked a style out of the book but told her my concerns about my flat volume less hair. She was able to tease it to get it to last for the wedding I had in the evening. I did purchase the head massage for an additional $10 since my friend recommended it but I didn't feel it was a full 10 mins. Maybe 6-7 mins max. She did a great job though! I also loved the waves. My hair did last the entire night as well. I would recommend this if you just want to get pampered and not worry about doing your hair for a wedding or special event. But if you have the skills to do your own hair, I'd save the money as it is a little pricy for a blow out. read more

I really wanted to love it...but it wasn't to be. I treated my daughter and myself to blowouts. My daughter has the massage and blowout. Her head massage was ok but definitely not 15 minutes. I loved how quick my blowout was finished but I feel like I do better with my Dyson. I had to ask for the hair around my face to be smoothed out as it was frizzy when she finished and they forgot my root coverup. Luckily, I bought one of their beautiful clips so I could just clip it up. Within15 minutes, my daughter's hair fell flat. I love the concept and I wish I loved it. Maybe our experience was just a one off. It's ok, I'll just redo it myself. read more

The stylist was extremely rushed. I tired to look at the look book and she was so impatient and immediately suggested style number 1. I booked for a quick style, but the receptionist wanted me to pay for a full blow dry claiming my hair was still wet. As I mentioned before I had already blow dried my hair the night before and didn't shower in the morning. There was no way my hair was wet. I dont understand why she wanted me to pay for a full price when the stylist didn't even offer to wash my hair, which should be included with a full blow dry. I have been to many many salons over the years and this was by far the worst experience read more

Poor customer service. i was required to cancel as I explained my friend was ill. I was charged $50 when there were plenty of afternoon bookings. Very disappointed in this business. Try somewhere else! read more

First, you need to give them your credit card info to book an app. No a fan of it at all. I got a gift card for this place as a bday present. It took 3 girls and 35 minutes to figure out for how much was and tell me that I can use it. However the girl who did my hair was very friendly, did a good work and tried her best to make my experience better. read more

I'm happy with my service, and I was impressed that it was faster than I expected. Didn't take a full hour. Reception was friendly and answered my questions over email which was helpful. I booked a blow dry online, they seemed to have a lot of time slots even though i did it a few days before on a saturday morning. Their standard $45 + 10 min head massage = $55. Although the head massage was good, there was no way it was 10 mins. 3-5 min at most. Yes, I'm being a bit nit picky, but I paid and extra $10 for what? something the most hair salons do for free? I was a bit disappointed at the shortened time. The actual blow dry was nice, although they have a standard menu, she asked what I wanted, and I was able to give feedback and she was willing to fix it. But I was in an out of there within 45 mins. I'd go back again, but a little pricey, and only if my usual salon was busy. read more

Happy with this location so far, I've been there 3 times and got the signature blowout. Mondays and Tuesdays are $35+hst (9-5) which is better than other deals they have going on, if u can make the time slot. read more

Critical: Professionalism The stylist was very good (the only reason why I'm giving it 2 stars) but the constant trying to up-sell you on services and products got very annoying. When I went to pay for the service the person at the counter in a loud voice asked me how much I was adding for gratuity. I obviously don't mind paying gratuity for a good service but have some class, please! read more

I decided last minute to get my hair did for the company holiday party (which I lovingly refer to as 'adult prom'. So glad that Cathy from accounting didn't deliver a baby in the bathroom and ditch it in a dumpster...again). I made reservations the day before through the Blo website. I was happy that there was availability since it was the height of holiday party season. I arrived a bit early for my appointment but my stylist, Khadeja, was right on time. I chose the "High Society" do from the menu which was the only updo on the list. Khadeja swept my hair back in a French twist style with a small Snooki bump, secured with it was a tonne of bobbi pins and shellac-ed it down with hair spray. I would have preferred to put on a salon bib while the hairspray was being used as it kinda went everywhere. Khadeja worked fast and we were done within the 30 min. promised. My usually slippery and disobedient hair actually stayed up all night and I got many compliments. When I took my hair down at the end of the night, I noticed that the styling products used didn't make my hair crunchy or crusty. I don't think I could have achieved the same look by doing it myself and believe me, I tried. I looked up a bunch of YouTube videos but I just didn't want to be fooling with banana clips and Bump-its so it was worth the $35 to have a pro do it. I rate Blo 3.5 Snooki bumps, I mean stars. read more

I am finally getting around to expanding my tip on blo bloor west! I am obviously obsessed with blo and have been to many locations across North America! This particular location is my go-to when I come back home to Toronto to visit the fam. I haven't washed/blown my own hair in ages, and I don't have to be without my little luxury because they have great hours and availability. The receptionist is so friendly and sweet, and the stylists are all so nice. You can tell they all get along really well and treat each other like a family. I have had my hair done by a few different stylists, and each time I ask for "big, 'i'm not afraid of texas-sized' hair" and they manage to nail it! I love that my hair lasts for days, so if I am home for the weekend, I just need to stop in once and it's perfect until I leave the city! I also purchased their Aerogel product, which is like a hairspray can of misty gel. I can't live without it! It's not sticky or drying! Can't wait for my next home coming to see the fam at Bloor West! read more

Blo Blow Dry Bar - Pamper session! - Makeup Artists Near Me - Toronto, Ontario

I'm giving Blo Hair dry bar two stars b/c it was a fun, cool place to get a wee bit of pampering. HOWEVER, both times my hairstyle looked at best...tragic. Two different stylists, different 'styles'. My hair is incredibly fine, plenty of it, but fine and it seemed to me that neither ladies had a vast amount of experience styling or drying my 'type' of hair. Now I get my hair cut at a place in Yorkville and had it styled exquisitely many times so it CAN be done. Having seen photos of Blo's work I don't know why my experiences both ended so terribly :( In their defence I was asked a few times if I liked what was being done but I didn't have the heart (nor the time) to ask for a complete re-do. read more

I like the atmosphere of the place, the staff are really nice, however, they are quite clueless...perhaps the lack of training? I went there twice, first time I was so excited, I spent over $300 including a set of hair extension (don't get it..quality is really bad..) I got it because I had a photo shoot that day. However, she did a horrible job, my hair looked so flat, it made me look like I've been wearing a hat all day! I gave it another try, went to a different store, and same thing happened, she burnt my scalp several times, and my hair was completely fried! never mind the style, I could have done it better myself! NOT going back again! read more

If you have seriously frizzy hair, I would not recommend coming here, especially if you're in a hurry. I went for a random blo dry because I quite honestly was feeling lazy that day. It usually takes me about 1.5 hours to get my hair to my standard of perfection, she took about 40 mins but I left with damp hair and came home looking like an 80's pop star! Now if I was going for that look, that would have been cool, minus the dampness..... But sadly I was not! I did buy a cool shower cap but that too was way crazy expensive! Sorry ladies, but my experience sucked! Oh and next time someone asks for an "experienced" artist. Pls, don't set them up with someone on their FIRST day of work. Fail, Epic fail! read more

Update: Haven't had a chance to update here but I did end up calling them after the obviously fake comment left here, I gave them my number and I was told I'm no longer welcome there Lol so why leave that comment lady? I've always had a great experience here. Have been around 5 times. The blow out lasts me for 5 days!!

I was having pictures done as a treat for myself for having finished my PhD and decided to get a blo out to prepare. The stylist was friendly and suggested a wavy/curly do that when it was done just wasn't me. She was so gracious about starting fresh and giving me the "red carpet" look I wanted. I have been to a few locations of BLO, this one is among my favorites. Not too cramped and friendly service all around. What a deal! Thanks blo team :) read more

TERRIBLE customer service! When I called to make my appointment (for Dec 24 - Christmas eve!) I asked if the hairstyle I wanted was included in my prepaid blo tab. Blo confirmed it was. Day before the appointment they called me FIVE TIMES. First two calls, each asking me to reschedule my appointment to another time. Even though I had to move my own schedule around I accommodated and said that was no problem. Third call, around dinner : They told me I needed to provide a credit card because the service I was asking for was not covered in the blo tab as they had said it was. I said I wanted to speak to a manager since that's not what I had been told by them earlier. Fourth call: I was told the manager wouldn't speak to me, even though she was texting with the person I was speaking with while I was on the phone! Fifth call: I was told that the manager would only speak to me tomorrow morning (day of the appointment) and that if I cancelled the appointment after that I would probably be charged for it! Awful experience, my plans for my event are messed up and what is worse I think they don't care at all. Disorganized and unreliable. They don't put their customers first. read more

Ask about pricing BEFORE you begin. I went because a friend got what she referred to as "space buns" for a costume get-up last Halloween. She'd been a few times (as well as another friend) and each time the cost/service was fabulous for both of these ladies. I figured spending around $40-$50 for myself for a similar costume idea (punk ponytails) was in order - if you saw the 2 photos you would see they are extremely similar - the only difference being size of buns - one slightly smaller. VERY slightly smaller. I was in the chair for a lessor time than my friend. No shampoo or other service was obtained ... just the style itself. The charge was $83+ before tip. When I asked why it was so much more (double the price) for essentially the same do, I was first told by one girl that it was an up-do, then by another that it was an a la carte item. It was very disappointing. My 2 regular-customer friends told me I just got unlucky with the person ringing me in; they obviously thought I was just taken for a ride, as there was NO explaining that difference in price. They did a fine job with the service, but the pricing issue is something that I had to put in a review about. Hopefully it will stop someone from making the same mistake that I made. read more

Had a fantastic Blo out by Tanya! She was very friendly and really listened to what I wanted. I wanted a beach wave curl for my corporate headshot photo for the following day, this style is called pillow talk! Absolutely GORG! I have thick hair, so it took a little more care and can never really find a place that does what I like... until now! She put product in to ensure it will last until tomorrow as well. All round 5/5 experience and would highly recommend! read more

I've been to Blo about half a dozen times now, and find that it's an ok place. Good for a straight up blow dry, not the best for anything involving curls. The service is always wonderfully polite, which I very much appreciate, and the salon is nice and pleasant. One is often in and out within 45 min. Online booking is an option and is very easy to use. I give Blo 3 stars because they do an ok job with my hair, but never a fantastic job that I'm thrilled with. I find I can often do a better job myself. My curls rarely last, and the finishing isn't what I like - I always have lots of flyaways. To be clear, my hair isn't the problem - I have incredibly healthy hair that is rarely heat-treated and doesn't get slathered with product. Overall, if I want a straight up blow dry, I'll go to Blo again, but for anything with curls, I'm going elsewhere. If your hair is longer or thicker than average, you may want to do the same. read more

I went here over the weekend to get my hair done for a wedding. I asked for "beachy waves" and even showed the stylist a picture from the Blow instagram page for a reference. This was by far the worst hairstyle I have ever received. The stylist gave me huge curls (not waves), and I looked like a poodle when I left the salon. Thankfully I had just enough time to rush home and completely redo my hair before the wedding. I would have asked her to fix it, but I felt completely rushed out the door. Not to mention the staff (especially the woman who works at the front desk) were extremely rude to my friend and I. I live in the area and will never return here and would not suggest it to anyone I know. I'm not a fan of paying $50 for a blowout only to have to go home and do a better job of it myself. This was a huge waste of time and money. read more

Feeling lazy and wanting perfectly straight hair, even in the back of my head where I usually can't really reach, I made an appointment at Blo. Their promise of $30 in 30 minutes was bang-on, but I left feeling...just, okay. Perhaps I am used to the quality of my regular salon, whose hair styling leaves my hair in a state of perfection for days and days, but the Blo straightening irons just didn't seem to be as hot, or as effective as my old stand-by. The hairstyle was nice enough, and the Blo-er was pleasant. All said, I will go back for an affordable blow-out, but will not expect pampering or flawless coiffing. read more

I used Blo Dry Bar on Bloor for my wedding last month. My Mom, 4 bridesmaids, and I all had our hair done on the day of the wedding. For myself, I ended up being very happy with the results. Luckily, as a bride, you are able to book a consultation/trial, and you then get the same stylist on the day of your actual wedding. The location I went to has a dedicated bridal stylist (I'm not sure if all locations do?). The result on the day of my wedding was not exactly what I expected - and not identical to the trial (but is it ever, really?). But after hmm-ing and hah-ing over it for awhile, I finally admitted I wasn't in love with it, and they adjusted it, no questions asked. Unfortunately though, I wasn't thrilled with the bridesmaids' hair. Two turned out great, and two turned out less than spectacular. Three of the four girls chose to wear their hair down (I encouraged this, I wanted them to look like themselves). Unfortunately, two of those girls ended up having to curl pieces a few times throughout the wedding day (bringing a curling iron everywhere we went). I think it was a combination of factors - the drizzly, humid weather didn't help. One girl felt her hair had not been dried adequately before they began to style. And of the three girls who wore their hair down, only one had not had her hair washed -- the one whose hair held up nicely all day. So I feel that if Blo Bar knew what they were doing, they maybe would have chosen not to wash the hair of the other two, since that was likely a factor in the styles not holding. As I understand it, the stylists who worked on the bridesmaids were not trained stylists, but rather part-timers taught to do the job. Luckily, as the bride, this was not the case. It's also interesting that the one bridesmaid whose hair held up all day, had hers done by the same stylist as the bride (the one that I feel was most experienced). The girls still looked great, but in the photos they definitely don't look as "polished" as they might have. Just something to be aware of! (And the two that looked good, looked very good!) One other note - on the day of my consultation, I arrived to find out that the stylist had called in sick. If you get sick, you get sick, I understand that. But I did not receive a call telling me that my appointment would have to be rescheduled. Instead, when I arrived there, they offered me the options of postponing, or having a consultation with another girl, who was not even going to be working on the day of my wedding. Seems like poor customer service to me. Additionally, I had planned other things for that day (like veil shopping) that depended on the hair being styled. So I opted to keep the appointment (with the stylist who wouldn't be there on the wedding day), so that I would have at least a rough idea of the style. Since I was visibly upset about the broken appointment, Blo Bar offered for me to come back later in the week to meet with the true stylist. So that made it up to me a bit. But the part that really puzzled me, was that on my wedding day -- the other stylist was there after all? I think Blo Dry Bar has the potential to be a GREAT place to go for hair styles..... but hopefully they can use the constructive criticisms of the reviews to wow their customers! read more

I love Blow Dry Bar. I can't imagine my life without it. I use it all the time!!

I went to Blo this past Sunday, I use to go the location in The Four Seasons and had great success but had not been to other locations. The girl who did my hair was very nice however I'm wondering if she is training or maybe it was her first day? My hair is fine but has some natural curl, I can straighten it with a round brush very effectively - if a stylist does it, they do an even better job. As the stylist went through section by section, she only partially dried so each section fell limp and started to fizzy. I had to keep asking her to dry my hair completely - yet it's was so obvious it was a wreck. She kept trying to yank a thin bristled brush through my wet hair that was tangled from being in the sink. She pulled out a few clumps of hair, and I can only imagine the breakage :( After the 3rd time, I asked her to stop because it was extremely painful and I was really worried about what she was doing to my hair! But the WORST part is she didn't shampoo the hair at the back of my neck - not even a little bit. This morning I awoke to frizzy hair, and my hair was so dirty and greasy looking underneath I ended up having to wash it. So I paid $45 at a blow out at the end of day Sunday, that I slept in - and wash out about 12 hours later. I'm not one to say anything negative, I was very nice to the stylist and left her a 15% tip but I'm so disappointed and will not be going back. I use to love my trips to Blo, but this was a disaster. read more

This was my first blow dry bar experience and it thoroughly sucked. My appointment was scheduled for 45 minutes, yet it took her only 30 minutes to wash, blow dry and style my hair. She blow dryed my hair very haphazardly, giving my hair absolutely no volume or definition. She asked me how I wanted my hair styled, and I chose one of their signature styles which involved loose, beachy waves. She curled my hair so tightly that even brushing through it afterward to loosen the curls didn't help! I was left with a flat top and tight curls at the bottom, something I would never do to my hair and most certainly wouldn't pay to get done. I won't be back! read more

I decided to try out Blo Dry Bar today...what a disappointment! I get my hair done often, and am also quite good at doing my own hair, and know a thing or two about hair, even I think more so than the girl who attended to me at Blo today. She made my first time experience a blo, very unenjoyable experience, plus the know it all attitude didn't help. She was very rough with my hair, making the experience so not relaxing but rather painful, as she was constantly pulling at my hair while washing, drying, blow drying, combing and curling my hair ...seriously my scalp is still sore from the experience. I have medium length, straight hair (so it's not a really challenge to dry it!) . I specifically asked for a blow dry with curl, and asked the the curls be created while she blew dry the hair. she expressed it was best to dry it straight first and then curl it with a curling iron - i disagreed, but she insisted this is how it would be done.. surely once she was done drying, and began curling with the iron, she insisted that my hair doesn't hold curl and making it wavy was the best she could do.... wtf?! ...i had a strong suspicion that she was not professionally trained...i often get my hair done, and no one has ever once complained that my hair doesn't hold curl - i'm sure i'm a professional stylist would not have said that. Given the busyness of the salon, i didn't want to express my dissatifaction in a bold manner, and just accepted it for what it was, even though it was very obvious i was not happy. I'm a big believer in not tipping for poor service, could you believe the p.o.s. machine did not allow me NOT to tip! I had to ask to skip the tip, the cashier didn't seem impressed with my request. They say you get a fabulous blow out for about $30 in about 30 minutes. But really you get a good blow out for about $45 in about 60 minutes. I'm okay with the fact it took longer, only if my hair was done well, but $37.29 ...not including taxes or tip. Then to come out, and finding a parking ticket on my windshield (as I exceed my parking my two minutes, thinking that an hour parking would have sufficed!), sealed the remaining of my experience that I wouldn't be returning to BLO. read more

Was in Toronto for a wedding at the Old Mill and the only reason I booked an appointment with Blo was on the recommendation of the Old Mill. I had my hair cut the week before the wedding and brought in a picture of what it looked like when it was styled by my regular stylist. The result?.......The most unprofessional styling ever. I had to insist on getting another 'stylist' to blow dry my hair after two disastrous attempts by the original 'stylist'. Will never recommend this place to any one. Also went back to the Old Mill and informed them of the poor quality of service. read more

I came in today and the wait was very long. I was in a rush and was very frustrated because my friend made an appointment for me a few days ahead of time. I was in a rush and was under the impression that this would be a quick way to look nice for a family function. However, I'm not sure what went wrong today with the long waits. The marketing is great - but the product does not even come close. Do not expect salon stylists - these 'stylists' just take a training course on how to style hair with the company - I am almost certain they do not have real hair salon experience. Do not expect high end hair tools to be used. The products are pretty cheap - in particular the pink blow-dryers. They also use those paper towels you find at high-end restaurants to dry your hair - my friend had water dripping down her neck. That being said - the staff are really nice so this review has nothing to do with their customer service. We just believe the owner/manager should have ensured that his/her staff had the know-how and confidence to style people's hair as advertised in their 'hair menu' before letting them to attempt it on real customers. The experience: A friend and I went to get our hair done for a special occasion - opting for the 'Holly Would' look. We were asked how we would like our hair curled at the beginning; I opted for the round brush. From my previous experience it seemed to me the stylist did not know how to use the brush or even what size brush to use. So she went for the curling iron - that was fine. I was not too happy with the end result but I went home and managed to fix it up. My friend on the other hand - had a slightly different experience. Her hair took 1.5 hours to do - 30 minutes is the advertised time span. She has a lot of hair so I guess the time it took is (kinda) expected. The problem was the stylist attempted to curl her hair using at least FOUR options (a round brush, a curling iron, a straightener then another curling iron). Needless to say her curls fell flat within half an hour after the appointment and she ended up sticking her hair in a ponytail. The next day my friend calls me in a panic - she said a highly unusual amount of hair fell from her head as she was washing it. It may have been all the ineffective hot tools used in her hair, or perhaps her shampoo had a reaction with this powdery hair lift product they used- we don't know. I did not experience this myself. We will never come back - which is too bad because the concept is great. read more

I've been to this location many times before and my previous experiences were (mostly) enjoyable. I always left with gorgeous hair. Often, there were long wait times and I was rarely out of there in 30 minutes. But, with beautiful hair, these were minor complaints. However, I will never go back here again after my experience this past weekend. I had an appointment at 9 AM. They were short staffed, as one of the stylists was running late in traffic. I was advised that she would be there in about 10 minutes and perhaps I would want to grab a coffee until then. I returned in 10 minutes, and the stylist had still not arrived. I was then told that one of the other stylists would be finished with her client soon and would then be able to work on my hair. Fast forward to 9:45 AM. I had been waiting for 45 minutes (for a 30 minute blow out). A walk-in customer arrived with no appointment, and was advised that the next available stylist would be with her next, in about 5 minutes. I was told that the stylist stuck in traffic would be able to work on my hair, as she was just around the corner, probably 10 minutes away. (She was "just around the corner" 45 minutes ago as well...). I took the opportunity to leave. I'm not sure in what world it makes sense to service a walk-in customer before a customer with an appointment who had been waiting for 45 minutes. I received a call later in the day explaining why the stylist was late (I do not care) and welcoming me to come back to the salon anytime that day and they would give me 15% off. No thank you. I made an appointment more than a week in advance, for 9 AM on a Saturday, for a reason. I was attending an event and was not just sitting at home, able to come back to the salon in the middle of the day for a measly 15% off after I had wasted nearly an hour of my day (and then had to return home to do my own hair). I will never return to this franchise location again. read more
