Michelle at the Union, NJ Jersey Mike's deserves the highest recognition. I walked in today…read morecarrying the weight of a negative experience I had elsewhere, and God truly put her into my remembrance for a reason. She completely turned my day around. I hadn't been to this location in over a year, but Michelle reminded me what real customer service looks like. She was patient, kind, and genuinely attentive -- especially as she helped me navigate my birthday points. She never rushed me, never made me feel like a burden, and walked me through everything with a smile. And let me say this: people underestimate the gift it takes to make a perfect sandwich. I watched her work, and the precision, care, and pride she put into every step was beautiful. She made my sandwich flawlessly. On top of that, she offered me a drink on the house -- a small gesture that meant a lot on my birthday. Michelle is the kind of employee who brings people back. She is warm, professional, and naturally gifted at what she does. If she ever opens her own restaurant, I would support her without hesitation. She made my birthday meal special, and I want her to know she is appreciated. Michelle deserves recognition, appreciation, and yes -- Employee of the Month. She earned it.

We went here 2 days in a row - Day one was the roast beef and cheddar with gravy and meatball…read moreparmigiana- the roast beef was incredibly moist and tender just the right amount of cheddar and the gravy was unctuous, the bread toasted to perfection. A 10 out of 10 sandwich! Meatball parmigiana had tender moist meatballs with just the right amounts of seasoning and cheese, once again bread toasted to perfection!! Day two - cheesesteak, eggplant parmigiana and a Monica's favourite tuna Cheesesteak - this sandwich gives Dalessandro's steaks in Philly an run for its money- steak was tender and full of flavour right amount of onion and green peppers, topped with cheddar, if I would have asked for provolone it would have beaten the Philly champ hands down. Eggplant parmigiana was without a doubt the best I've had in years- sauce was full of flavour but you could still taste the tender well seasoned and breaded eggplant- bread toasted perfectly as usual!! The sleeper was the tuna - the olives and banana peppers took the tuna to another place. Just a big WOW Needless to say Pete and Monica were so friendly and accommodating no matter how busy it got they never rushed anyone's order or queries about the 50+ sandwiches on the menu With a little marketing this place could be an absolute nightmare of a line!!!!!! Looking forward to next week's short rib ravioli in mushroom sauce!!!!!!!!!!!! Stupendous value and flavour

I'm stressing this because on my most recent visit it was a major issue with a couple…read moreahead of me acting shocked when they were given the total (almost $30) and they only had $3 in singles. (And that ATM machine at the corner? It looks like it'll not only steal your identity but your soul as well.) My last visit (2023-ish) I tried their 'combo' (one hot dog, one sausage) which was... okay. But when they're slinging a double Italian hot dog? They're firing on all cylinders. Tommy's is not shy to pile a wicked amount of grub into that pizza bread. The hot dogs kind of get lost under a mountain of deep-fried and oily (but delicious) sliced spuds. (I do wish they weren't so stingy with the peppers and onions to really balance out the meal.) The 'Holy Trinity' when it comes to Italian hot dogs in North Jersey is a no-brainer... Dickie Dee's, Jimmy Buff's and Tommy's. (For me - no one comes close to Dickie Dee's but my one kid said Tommy's was his [current] fave.) As for that couple that came cashless? A good Samaritan behind me pulled out a wad of cash (it's not wise to pull out a fistful of cash anywhere you go but it's ESPECIALLY not wise when you're in the rough and tumble streets of Elizabeth, let's be real) and after swapping Venmo information everything was a-okay. Take-out/to-go only. Parking is atrocious. Guy behind the glass - always aces. (Oh, and... cash only!)

I've had the sausage/dog combo before that's like an Italian Dog and I loved it but I had never just had some good old doggies here so I grabbed a couple. Went with 1 with red onions and mustard and 1 with chili, diced onion, and mustard. I love red onions, just a big nostalgia thing to my youth getting dogs in Coney Island at Nathan's. These onions were tasty. The chili wasn't what I was expecting but the crunch from the diced onion was welcomed. The rolls tasted fresh and the dogs had a fantastic snap and delicious flavor. No surprise here - Tommy's - Didn't Suck!
