My hair was not color treated before, so I didn't want too sudden of a change. I explained to her what I wanted and she was so sweet, stayed late to finish my hair, very sweet and understanding.. very talented! She did my hair, and it was pretty but I came home and just really wanted more of a change.. My husband told me that he wants me more blonde as well and told me to call them. I called in next morning, feeling bad, but they were so understanding and told me its no problem at all and they want me to love my hair! I got another appointment scheduled for an adjustment. I LOVED my hair after this one. I really recommend Claire, she is very talented and also for all the ladies out there, she does AMAZING eyelash extensions!!! I could write word for a word from another review posted on google 9 months ago for this salon. I had an appointment and when I arrived was told she lost my formula. I had gone before and it was used. I have recently moved to the area and had only been at the salon a brief amount of time. The stylist promised me she remembered the formula. I trusted her. The result was a disaster. She botched my hair color and let it process for too long. The roots were a completely different color from the rest of my hair. No apology. I was not told we will fix this to correct it since it was the stylist's fault. I came home and was very upset upon checking closer. I called the salon numerous times but never got a response back; same with the emails. Finally, I talked to a receptionist who asked the stylist and I was told to send in pictures which I found surprising since Jaeden saw exactly what it looked like. Nevertheless, I sent these in. Did not hear back so I decided to walk in to the salon to have one side of my hair corrected because it was thicker and did not match the other side. Then I was told my hair would need to be bleached on the top to correct it and at no charge. I did not want that. She also said she could do an all over color using the correct formula which I had to give again. When I came in for another appointment and took the time out of my day for this I expected no charge. I was not told otherwise. She went to go start mixing the color and quickly came back and asked if I understood there would be a charge. Unbelievable. What kind of service is this? From lack of return calls and emails to careless work and a horrible customer service manner I will not come back and will go to the downtown Bellingham Aveda Salon. Make sure if you leave this salon that you have them remove your credit card number that they insist upon having to make an appointment. The lack of professionalism and talent here is a disgrace. read more

I had hair and makeup booked for my wedding for several months with Blessings, even called to confirm a week or two before. Less than 48 hours before my Sunday wedding I got a phone call cancelling my makeup because of "recent scheduling changes" that meant they no longer do makeup on that day. No apologies, not even when I reminded her that this was my wedding. No effort whatsoever to offer another salon or artist who might be able to help me on such short notice and on the one day a week most salons are closed. When I asked for suggestions the only name she came up with was the salon I used when I still lived in town and I knew they were closed on Sundays. I can't think of a worse offense for a business offering beauty services than cancelling on a bride on short notice. I was kind to the woman who called because it probably wasn't her fault, but I was freaking out internally and would have a few strong words in mind if she were responsible for leaving me hanging like that. I cancelled my hair appointment, obviously, not wanting to give this place any business at this point. Very luckily for me, Zazen saved my butt and did a great job. read more

I went to blessings the first time about a month ago. I was super excited to go to a nicer salon because typically I used to go to beauty schools. I assumed because I was spending so much money on the highlights that The stylist would know what he was doing and that I would be happy. First I had an appointment with another stylist but she called out sick.they then said they can get me in with someone else and that Mark was one of their best and experienced hair stylist. When he first did my hair he made the highlights too bold and it did not look right. The next day I called and explain them that I was not happy and they said I can come in again and have him fix it at no cost. I went in a couple days later and he did an even worse job and made some of the highlights bleed together it took him two more tries to try to fix the damage that he did. I was not happy. I went in a couple more days later and they set me up with a different stylist Grace and she tried to fix what he did wrong. I was definitely more happy with Grace's work but my overall experience was horrible and I will never go to blessing salon again. read more

Really enjoyed my experience at the spa! My 60-minute Swedish massage with Kali was sheer bliss. I went with my sister as part of a special getaway, and she too was blown away by her massage treatment. The steam room was on the fritz, but other than that, everything was wonderful. read more

I will never go back to Blessings Spa. I booked a dual pedicure for Mother's Day Atleast 6 wks ago. They called to cancel appointment 3 days prior. They explained that one girl was out of town and one couldn't come in. Figure it out. You ruined a Mother's Day treat for my daughter and I. Do they really think they are that great? Website for Blessings Salon said $45 haircut. I made appt for HAIRCUT. The stylist proceeded to do a bunch of ineffective foo-foo on me, I thought it was included since she said "this is what we do here..." Ended up with a $65 haircut that was not very good. On top of that, after she washed my hair, I had to wait 20 minutes while she worked on somebody else! I have never experience that before, I thought it was incredibly rude and there was no apology or explanation. I will never go back there. read more

Worst service, hairstylists. Went in for a consultation, received snotty remarks and an overpriced estimate. The lady who I think her name was abby told me I would need a single step process and then proceeded to give me an estimate for a double process. First time I went in the colorist refused to color my hair. Thought I would try it again. What a mistake. Don't go here it is a joke! read more

If a person were to read my other reviews, they would see that I have a few places in which I wrote "best eyebrow wax ever"... Blessings Salon and Spa is GENUINELY the best eyebrow wax I have ever received. Normally I break out after a wax, but my skin remains completely pimple free! To top it off the wax was only $15 (before tip) and included water or tea, and the "aroma journey" which includes a scalp massage! Call ahead for an appointment because they are generally booked and you will likely not get in as a walk in. I'm so happy with my eyebrows that I will be returning there to get my hair done! This salon is heads (no pun intended!) above the other Aveda salons in & around the area. My Stylist, Amy got my color right the first time. It looks the best it has ever looked. Finally, a salon that realizes how important their customers are! The energy here is great. You won't find any cattiness here either. I received, without asking a neck massage, head massage and a hand massage with Aveda products. I felt pampered & left feeling great. Prices are the same as other Aveda salons in the area. Most of all it is busy and everyone working there is smiling and friendly., you know like they love their jobs! And BTW they will be moving to a much bigger facility in Fairhaven with a spectacular view of the water soon. I highly recommend this salon in every way. I also highly recommend Amy not only for her expertise as a stylist, but helping me relax and enjoy my experience at Blessings. I went into another business in Fairhaven right after I left the salon & I had two total strangers within 20 minutes tell me how great my hair was. Now that hasn't happened in a long time. More important though is that I love it & I will continue to go to this salon. read more

My cut and color always turn out fabulously as Shaylene puts a lot of care and consideration into my style. I love walking into Blessings Salon Spa because it has that soothing Aveda atmosphere. I was greeted with a smile by a young receptionist and asked if I'd like tea or water and that my hairstylist would be with me in a moment. While I drank my tea, I browsed their extensive collection of Aveda products. My stylist greeted me a couple of minutes later. Judyth is a new stylist from Texas with 7 years of Aveda experience (I asked). She was very nice and easy to speak with. She nailed my cut and color...probably the best cut I've ever had! The reason I gave this review a '4' is because there is a high rotation of stylists and of the two stylists there, they are both only available M-Th. I really, really hope this isn't a sign that the business isn't doing well because I love it there! read more

Since the remodel, this place has become an oasis. Not that the last building was a dump! They offer more services now but still keep the complimentary tea and scalp/shoulder massage. I have been familiar with Blessings since 2004. I try to stop in whenever I am in town. I LOVE the new space. It is SO beautiful! They have really high ceilings and awesome views of the bay. I'm also super excited for her to make her final addition to the shampoo bowl area. I'm not sure if it's a secret, so I'll wait to share. However, it is going to be rad! The last time I visited was in October of 2010. All of the staff was very friendly. I was especially impressed by their massage therapist. I should know, since I am one. She was everything a massage therapist should be: she knew her anatomy and physiology, was good with her hands, was friendly and on top of that, she did an awesome job with product introduction. She made it feel very natural, like I was being pampered. There was no pushy sales lady vibe. I can tell already that their new space is going to be very popular, very fast! read more

I stumbled upon this spa as desperately needed a facial. Stacey did a GREAT job and I left there feeling really refreshed and my face felt and looked so much better (it was very dry). This is a new location (they just moved from their old location which was just down the block). It is a very nice spa with lots of open space and a fabulous waiting room complete with large couches and a nice fireplace....all situated so that you look out onto Bellingham Bay. The treatment room I was situated in was located in the back...it was so cozy and warm. It was relaxing and I enjoyed all 90 minutes of my facial. Can't wait to come back to get another facial. I bought a cut and style, facial, waxing as a gift for a relative. I wanted it to be special for her, the whole spa experience. I live in another state so I was not really sure where to send her. She said it was the complete spa experience, the robe, drinks, and spa atmosphere. Blessings Salon Spa was amazing, she looked fantastic and truly felt pampered through the whole experience. I chose this salon because I love Aveda products but will come back because of the great haircut I got. Grace listened to me from the get-go and did an amazing job. I can be sort of a hair snob coming from a family where both parents and brother are in the business. I loved the lengthy shampoo, probably the best ever. Also I came to relax and have some self-care not chat about surface 'who cares' stuff. Grace, it seemed, picked up on that and just let me be. I also liked the fact that the music was serene and not too loud--peaceful. Walked away feeling beautiful. read more

I had scheduled an all-over hair color appointment with my usual salon two-weeks before my wedding. My stylist had a medical emergency and so I needed to find someone else. I like to color my hair with Aveda products, so I decided to give this salon a try. They were able to fit me in with short notice (hence the three stars), but even though I gave the stylist at Blessings the exact color numbers that I wanted, the stylist chose to do a toner instead of a color which turned my hair a lighter color than I had hoped for. The toner was applied very evenly however. The biggest blow was that I was charged $180 for the service. I thought that this was very steep considering that I didn't need any sort of trim or cut, and my appointment only took less than an hour. I felt a little taken advantage of, possibly because the salon knew I needed the service for a wedding and would be willing to pay to get something done quickly. Blessings salon was a curse not a blessing. One stylist ruined my color by darkening it. The stylist who corrected it started thinning my thick hair bit-by-bit because she got pissed that she ran out of color when doing my touch ups. She also fried my hair so she could charge me for conditioning treatments. Two separate salons told me my hair was thin and fried. They had to cut off 3+inches. I feel violated after having thick long hair all my life. read more

I have visited many Aveda concept salons, including the Sandlewood Salon and Spa in Bellingham, and this one is by far my favorite. (and I have also had my hair cut for many years at Gene Juarez) At first I didn't really like that their building is so small, and the wait area is really next to one of the hair stations, but I soon got over it. Most of the time they will offer you a cup of hot Aveda tea while you are waiting, which really helps you relax. And then, and then before your hair cut they give you a short (5 minute) scalp massage with your choice of calming Aveda oils before your haircut. It really relaxes me and makes me enjoy being there. I don't like being stressed out when getting my hair cut, so it really puts you in the mood. Along with that, they have given me the best haircut I have ever had. I didn't even really tell her what I wanted - and it was perfect for my face structure. Now I won't go anywhere else! They even offer free bang trims (I know most places do now days). I highly recommend trying them out. read more

I have had two GREAT and Wonderful stylists here. Marissa was the last one who did my hair, and it allways looked great and I got many compliments on it. But Blessings has done this to me twice now, where my stylist leaves and they call me to tell me I need to reschedule with someone else. This was 4 days before my appointment. And they won't tell you where your stylist has gone to. It's really frustrating. I finally did find out where she went and am happily her client at Honey. I won't go back to Blessings since they refuse to tell me where my stylists go when the leave, and it always takes about 2 really bad haircuts before I find a good one. read more

The problem I have is with stylist turn-over. I have had 3 different stylists and never any notice when one was leaving. I decided that I would try a place with a little more stability. read more

I highly recommend Blessings Salon in Bellingham, WA! It is an Aveda salon, and I love the fact that their products are plant based. Upon entering, I was offered water or tea, and the girls in the salon are vey nice. I read the previous review about Amy at Blessings Salon, and hoped that she would also make my hair look wonderful. She surpassed my expectations! I have only had one other stylist (who is located in California) who had the expertise and experience that is equivalent to Amy's. My blonde haircolor looks fabulous, and she chose to use two different colors to make my haircolor look natural. She is a pro at washing hair (she gave me a full head massage), and the Blue Malva shampoo and Brilliant conditioner smell amazing! The haircolor is all natural so it is much more gentle on your hair than the haircolor used at other salons. She also gave me a complimentary hand massage with wonderful Aveda lotion! She spent a great deal of time styling my hair (she explained that she likes to cut my hair while it's wet, and after she dries it in order to ensure an even haircut). My hair was very soft because I didn't have to sit under a hot dryer which damages the hair. I left the salon feeling fabulous, and I know that I will receive a ton of compliments on my hair! I went to another Aveda salon in California, and my haircolor looked fresh for three months! RUN don't walk to Blessings Salon, and make an appointment with Amy asap! I guarantee you will never go to another hairstylist again! read more

Kelly Bird at Blessings salon gives the best short haircut I've ever had. I have multiple cowlicks and she works with them so that they don't show or part my hair where I don't want it parted. She also does beautiful color. it is pricey but worth the splurge once in a while to get a fabulous cut and color... makes you feel so good. Also the cut looks good right up to the 6 week mark! And...Kelly is just a beautiful person too. read more

She is a pro and did such a great job that I didn't have to "fix" it when I got home, like I usually do. She was easy to talk with and her styling experience shows. I love Aveda products and went into the salon to look at the products. The staff was friendly and I ended up making a hair appointment with Allison. She did a wonderful job re-styling my hair. It grew out nicely and required minimal styling on my part. I was also happy with my second visit and she listened to my suggestions on styling changes. The salon has a relaxing atmosphere. I received the scented oil head massage which is a nice signature touch for the salon. Allison's approach and manner is professional and friendly. I wanted to treat myself to a calm, relaxing appointment at a nice salon, so I called Blessings. I was put with a stylist who NEVER QUIT TALKING. She worked extra slow because she talked so much about her problems. She seemed very unsure of herself the whole time and she was not clear about what she was doing and how much it would cost. She must have been at the bottom of the salon pecking order, because as her client I was made to wait an awful long time to use the sink while another stylist gave her client a massage!!! All I got was a headache, a poor haircut and a so-so color job. The final straw was when the receptionist charged me $160 for a (short hair) overall color plus highlights and a haircut. I've been trying various stylists/colorists for 2 - 3 years since my old stylist/colorist left the area. No one has been able to get the color right. They experiment, try to tell me it can't be done, etc., etc. Tyler Gates nailed it the first time. I'll keep going back and move this up to 5 stars if the service remains consistent.as long as she's there. Cut was great also. And the prices are in keeping with area upscale salons.
