My stylist was Lauren, and I ADORE her. She is super personable and connects well with clients. I'm a very simple person and so is my style. She understood that immediately and suggested & executed a no-fuss hairstyle that I loved. They also incentivize first-time customers with a sizable discount, and do the same for a couple of follow-up appointments. Prices are fairly low, considering that you're getting really high quality and service from the staff. Less than I expected for a shampoo/cut. If you have been settling for unsatisfactory hairstyles because you're intimidated by a big salon, break up with Great Clips and give Salon Piper Glen a try. The first red flag (that I ignored) was that the stylist refused to provide any kind of estimate for time or cost. I trusted her and the process and now, just returning from my fourth visit and more than a thousand dollars lighter, I wish I had never set foot in Salon Piper Glen. I was very upset after my last visit but because we ran out of time and the stylist was working on another client already, I decided to wait until my next visit to address my concerns. Rather than providing a solution, the stylist had two answers: 1) I was my fault for not speaking up in front of her client or calling the next day and when I mentioned that the lavender color I asked for was not applied to the proper places, or really applied at all... 2) it would've washed out anyway Which is NOT the point. The point was that it was never applied to my hair to begin with. There are so many ways she could've handled things to salvage the relationship or at least so I wasn't furious when I left, but rather than saying "this is what I can do for you today to fix it, would that work?" When I told her my budget she just shrugged and then charged me full price for a haircut and let me walk out the door in tears. At one point, I even said, if I were you, I would've at least offered to tone my hair and reapply some of color I asked for (again, not for free, but within the budget I was willing to spend today). But it just came back to how it was all my fault and how the color would've washed out (had it ever been applied). Reddit told me to go to Bishops. I wish I had listened. Over the years I've worked with a handful of KK stylists who not only consistently crush working with my hair (record-breaking confidence alert), but will also teach me how to style and maintain my hair once the salon sparkles have washed away. I also love that I never feel sold but educated to make informed decisions. We talk about angles, lengths, routines, hair care, and products - and I never feel sold or pressured into anything. I drove to Columbia on the recommendation of a colleague. When I arrived, the breeder was not yet…read morethere and the building was closed. I waited only a couple of minutes and the breeder arrived. She got right to work, and I described how I wanted my hair done. I asked for knotless braids and a style that I would be able to put up in the barn. The breeder assured me that that was what she was going to do. There was a language barrier, so I am not sure that the breeder actually did understand how I wanted my hair. After about four hours, my hair was very neatly and beautifully braided, but nowhere near the knotless braids style i asked for. I had also asked at my braids not be too tight as I am an older woman and tight braids are extremely painful to me. The braids were so tight that I had a headache, and had to try various home remedies to loosen the braids up so I could even lay down and go to sleep. I kept the braids in for about three weeks. At no point was I able to even lift the braids up, let alone put them in a bun. Although the style was neat and well executed, it was not what I wanted or asked for.
