Blends Up is one of those places where my wallet says, "Absolutely not," and the rest of me says, "Shut up, wallet--we're getting the açaí bowl." Yes, it's pricey. With enough additions, I've walked out holding a $20 bowl of fruit, granola and assorted healthy things, which is objectively a little ridiculous. And yet...I keep going back, because it's genuinely fantastic. I usually order the medium bowl with two bases--some combination of açaí, coconut and cacao--then add granola, chia pudding, fresh fruit, bee pollen, coconut shreds, cacao nibs and almond butter on top. There are plenty of choices, everything tastes incredibly fresh, and the finished bowl is basically a magnificent frozen monument to convincing yourself you've made excellent life decisions. The staff is consistently friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is relaxed enough that I'll sometimes bring my laptop, put on a podcast, tackle the New York Times puzzles and slowly enjoy my absurdly expensive--but absolutely worthwhile--bowl. Could I eat a PowerBar or go somewhere cheaper? Sure. But Blends Up is local, the quality is excellent, and the experience always delivers. Our experience was ruined after that by this curly haired lady with glasses that was rude and not warm and welcoming. The bowls- the small sized craft your own bowl is BIG and these bowls are very filling. I prefer just getting the classic acai but the ube is delicious & the cacao flavor is so cool to see that they offer. The juices- only tried the sunset juice but I appreciate that they have an option to craft your juice on the menu, good for those days we're feeling picky or need something specific. Coffee- I have only tried their coffee during the holiday stroll. A caramel latte- very strong not too sweet but enough flavor (which I prefer) the kind of latte that continues to taste good as it cools down- coffee enthusiasts will know what I mean. Everything is organic - which is amazing so I feel that everything is priced pretty fairly given the quality. Not only do they have chia seed pudding they have TWO flavors, regular (plain) and chocolate. Both very subtle but I love it as a topping for texture. I love that they have a bigger variety of fruits to choose from (strawberries, kiwi & mango are my go to's here) They are very accommodating with the bowls, I asked if she can drizzle some peanut butter on top of the acai before any granola & it wasn't a problem!
