Finally asked if they had any vegetarian options, because their menu lists Beef, Chicken, or Pork as the only options for a burrito, tacos, or bowel. They hooked me up with a veggie burrito with rice, black beans, zucchini, guac, cheese, pico de gallo , hot sauce and Mexican crème sauce. Burrito and diet coke came to $9 and my order came out quick. I liked the burrito, but was not a big fan of the rice, which was white rice cooked with some butter. Kind of Chipotle style. I don't like Chipotle, and this was better than Chipotle, but not sure it's my thing. I think I am spoiled because the Mexicue chart (which is a walk for me to get to) is so damn good. read more

So. Very. Meh. I had the sofrito chicken bowl ($7) and maduros ($3) from the truck parked in the Financial District. The chicken was shredded and lacked any exceptional flavors. Accompanying the chicken were white rice and black beans. The rice was a little on the wet side and wasn't fluffy. The beans looked and tasted very like they were poured right out of the can and then lightly salted. The pico de gallo and cilantro that were sprinkled on top of the bowl added some much needed flavor and brightness to the dish. The maduros were wellllll done (i.e. almost burnt) and greasy. Though the service was relatively quick and friendly, this was one of the most disappointing lunches I've had in a while. In fact, and I hate to say this, Chipotle's chicken bowls are more enjoyable. read more

Came upon the food truck parked out in front of PS1 Contemporary Art Center in L.I.C this past Saturday. Got three tacos for $6 and an empanada for $3. Blend's portions are pretty small. An empanada at Mama's Empanadas is twice as big and half the cost. Other taco truck tacos tend to be twice as big as well. Blend has a trendy looking truck and sees itself as some kind of artisanal, unique cuisine and they think because of this they can get away with providing smaller portions when their food is actually the same as other Latin trucks. Puhleeze. The chicken taco was flavorful but the pork taco could have used way more seasoning. An assortment of toppings is available, yet all the toppings didn't seem to really enhance the flavor of the meat all that much. The chicken cornmeal-based empanada was delicious. Seasonings are added to the dough and it's fried to a golden crisp. The chicken is extremely flavorful. So although their tacos didn't do much for me and they were out of tortilla chips and salsa making it impossible for me to review, I would probably get an empanada when I'm in the area. Not that I tried it but their burrito looked big enough. Possibly a good buy. read more

This truck parked at 52nd street today because apparently they were a little late getting to their normal 47th street spot and found all the spots taken. I found out that my favorite Korean BBQ cart (which I promise to review once I get off my lazy butt and post those pictures) wasn't there today. So on my way to my fav. Halal truck, I passed by this one, and thought... it wouldn't hurt to take a look. The guys working there were really friendly (and a bit flirtatious, which was cute - but maybe they had too much time on their hands since there was no line - granted it was after 2 pm) and so I decided, what the heck. Let's try a burrito! The food itself wasn't bad. I wish there was more meat, but they didn't skimp on the portions of the other stuff. Overall, it was a pretty good burrito, but nothing amazing, and for $7, I'm just feeling a little Meh... It probably would have helped if I got sour cream w/ it, but I didn't know that I'd have to ask specifically (I told them to give me everything as long as it's not spicy). Not a bad truck, but even though the burrito had a lot of fresh ingredients, it was a bit one-dimensional in flavor. What was also nice is that they didn't use the crappy little cheap Styrofoam containers, they had nice plastic takeout containers in a sturdy (and branded) bag. I MIGHT give their tacos a try if they're ever up in my area again, but I will say that the employees are so friendly that it might leave unreasonable expectations about everything in general, but in my book, that's a not a bad problem to have. read more

First food truck disappointment in New York thus far. Took the trek from my work to make it down to 47th and Park to hit up Korilla (the best of the best my friends). Per usual, there was a line, but this was the first time the line outweighed my desire for the delish food. So I took a walk and walked past many of my favorite trucks (Waffle & Dinges, The Philly Cheesesteak guys) but saw Blend. They seems like a knockoff version of Korilla with their smiling faces, loud music, and plethora of Mexican inspired dishes. I figured I'd give it a try. How I wish I would have read the Yelp reviews first. I opted for the bowl to try to stick on the healthy side and was very disappointed. First off, the rice was (as everyone else mentioned) plain white rice with a bit of butter. Black beans were then crammed on top which left the rice a weird light black from the beans. There goes that. I got the shredded beef which was pretty good but a little over cooked for me. It definitely did not fall apart. I opted for the extra Guac which needed a lot of salt and also ended up being about a pinch worth. The rest of the toppings were pretty lack luster too. The corn wasn't sweet and juicy, the hot sauce didn't do anything, and the portion actually wasn't too great. I admire the guys for trying and getting out there. They were all insanely friendly which was a great plus. However, until they revamp the menu a bit, I'll just go and wait in the line for Korilla. read more

i stumbled upon this truck during lunch around 1:30. At that point all they had were beef and chicken tacos. I went with 2 chicken and a beef taco for $5. While that sounds very cheap, the tacos pretty small, and the price point was just about right. The tacos tasted pretty good. The meat was very juicy and i loved the cheese they use. My problem with the tacos is that one order is not enough, but 2 orders would be too much. They need a side or something that can go along with them. I spoke with someone on the truck and he said they're going to add a lot of the items that they sell from their store in long island city so I'm definitely going to go back and try something else. read more

Didn't know what I wanted for lunch and decided to see what food truck options were in the area. It was the Friday before Memorial Day weekend, so I didn't expect to see many food trucks parked on Hudson St. I saw the Blend truck, read the menu and thought 'meh'. But changed my mind halfway down the block and came back. I ordered the combo taco menu (with hot sauce), got a Passion fruit juice and all for $6. The juice was delightful and the tacos were really tasty! I do hope they come back to the area again, and add a few sides to the menu. read more

First off, great value! $5 for 3 great quality tacos is almost unheard of in NYC. For lunch, I had the chicken, pork, and beef taco platter. While each was delicious, the pork was by far my favorite. I highly recommend that when the man asks you "would you like my recommended toppings?" that you respond with an emphatic "YES!" The various toppings perfectly accentuated the different meats. Also, make sure you don't pass on the "special" Mexican cream (which I almost did before i was persuaded not to). I also added guac to each, which only tacked on an additional $1 to my meal. The only thing I would change is the ability to get 4 tacos. 3 left me wanting more. In their defense, I didn't ask if 4 was an option, maybe it is. went on my daily walk around the block to see what food trucks are around and found this new truck that i've never heard of. and now i wish i still never heard of them. review summary: i hate to be mean, but all in all, their food's not good enough or cheap enough to justify bad service. why should i pay $9 to wait for a pork bowl and guac (that i ended up not getting) when i can get the same and more at chipotle? according to my brain, my stomach, and my wallet - that's just not logical. you've been warned, there food is alright, but these guys are new and will definitely need a few more weeks of lunch rush before you risk your lunch money on a so-so meal. just to put it out there, the guys are very nice, but that's part of the problem. they're nice but they're not super organized. now my adventure - warning, some complaining here: luckily for me, i arrived before the crowd, but only just. there was a nice little line behind me by the time i ordered, but no big right? except that 3 or 4 people who ordered after me got their food first because these very nice guys are not organized and didn't make the food in the order it was ordered. so since most of these people ordered burritos, they just kept making burritos. and would have kept ignoring me if i hadn't asked about my food. then one of the guys stopped and put my pork bowl together and gave it to the 3rd guy to put on toppings. but the 3rd guy (who was super friendly to all of the customers), continued to put toppings on top of everyone else's food till i reminded him that i was waiting too and really wanted to try their pork bowl with GUAC. i know i sound like i'm whining, but being ignored is not fun. they offered me a complimentary drink and they were very apologetic about it. you can tell they're new to this biz. so i took my mexican orange soda and went back to my desk once i got my food. here's the catch. i get back to my desk and what do i see? no guac - no guac that cost me an extra dollar and that i reminded them 3 times about. so i got a soda that i didn't pay for and no guac that i did pay for. probably nets out pretty closely, but that was it. sorry blend express truck guys. food was decent, but i won't be back for a while until the training wheels come off. read more

SMALLEST PORTIONS EVER! I ordered 2 empanadas one chicken and one spinach and cheese for $3 each. What was handed to me were two dumplings... and the spinach and cheese wasn't even good. Never again. Granted, for $6 you can't get much for lunch in midtown, but please add a few more bucks and upgrade your lunch somewhere else. If you're a grown man, your stomach won't be satisfied. Wandering around Midtown East, I walked on 47th Street to see if there were any food trucks around today and there was the orange truck called Blend Latin Fusion. They have one chalkboard of 3 items on the menu which included tacos (2 for $5), burrito ($6), or bowl ($7) with choice of chicken, pork or beef. I decided on the chicken bowl which they automatically make with shredded chicken, white rice, black beans, fresh salsa, guacomole and lettuce. I also asked for hot sauce on the side. The guy running the truck also gave me a free soda. I thought the food was pretty decent and tasty. Everything tasted fresh and I assume that they are a new truck since there were no reviews for them. I am also not sure when the truck would be around since the plastic bag indicates that they have a restaurant in LIC and the restaurant's website does not work and has no indication of this truck. Also, I'm not sure where the Latin fusion comes in for the second half of their name. Maybe the restaurant has more fusion type food but the truck was clearly Mexican. Hopefully, they will re-establish their website so they can get their name out there and this would be another option as opposed to Chipotle on 44th Street. read more
