And the reasoning for being closed is always "short handed". Why don't any of your staff stay? As a business owner myself, I'm literally shocked that this place has existed this long. Healthy Lunch Find in Downtown Albany! During my lunch…read morestroll through downtown Albany looking for something healthy, a coworker and I stumbled across Blend and Brew on State Street. To my surprise, both the Energizer and Lunch smoothies were delicious! They had the perfect creamy consistency--not too thick and not watery--and were packed with flavor. I ordered the Energizer in a medium and could really taste the mango, apple, and lime. It was so good that I immediately wished I had ordered a large! They also offer pre-made sandwiches, fruit bowls, and wraps, making it a great grab-and-go lunch option. Since it's a little off the main path, the line was short and service was quick, even during the busy lunch rush. If you're looking for a fresh, healthy lunch option downtown, this spot is definitely worth checking out! Yelp Rating: 4.5/5 Would I return? Absolutely--for a large Energizer next time!

Please DO NOT go here if you have an allergy!!!…read more I visited, ordering something I have had before and letting them know of my nut allergy, asking for precautions. The cashier was nice but I literally went into full anaphylaxis 5 minutes after eating it and had to go to the hospital. They put cashew butter in it, which I didn't order and am deathly allergic to. I came back and let them know and got a cash refund, but ambulance and hospital bills are not $20. This occurrence is especially wrong due to the business literally having allergy policies- which I trusted.

Now when I clicked the fried catfish option it opted me to pay a dollar extra for cheese, which is weird because it's already in the title of the meal but I just clicked add cheese for a dollar extra. The staff was friendly. The woman who made my shake, asked me if I would like oats added to the drink to make it taste more like carrot cake. I took her advice, and I do not regret it. The shake was delicious. I took the meal home and I will say to my surprise I felt like they put a very small amount of catfish compared to everything else in the place but the catfish was pretty good. I was happy to see they didn't fry it with cornmeal. The eggs was well seasoned with salt and pepper and cheese. The grits were slightly bland, but it wasn't the worst grits that I've tried. I recommend trying this place because I will be back, especially for the shakes.

The pina was made quickly and easily and satisfied my toddler. The chia brownie was clearly problematic in the blender. They took it on and off multiple times, added extra milk twice if not 3 times and it just would not blend. Seemed like a mistake in measuring ingredients so I figured they were going to start over. Instead they shook jiggled and forced this into my cup. I was pretty shocked they handed it over. The person working the blender seemed embarrassed and I'm pretty sure was instructed by whomever was working the register to just give it to me. For that reason I decided not to say anything, but what a crappy way to start a new business. It's an open window. They knew I could see this entire thing and that's certainly not the way to get return customers.
