Saturday in April, 85 degrees, Yankees game - this place could have served warm beer in a dirty cleat and I would have smiled and said thank you! BUT..... this place is GREAT! The location is fantastic (having Big Papi grin and wave as he warms up in outfield and you enjoy a beer is pretty cool) The drinks were very reasonable and beers pretty cheap! I had no issue whatsoever with the bartenders and was served quickly every time AND I thought the food was good! (Granted - I was several well-priced, quickly served beers in..) but the sliders were scrumptious! I loved the atmosphere too - not too drunk frat-house, not too packed with pretentious pseudo-fans. Good crowd, in good moods. I will definintely be back here. On an amusing side-note, the men's urinals (which are a floor above the bar) have a head/eye level window so the "occupants" can keep an eye on the game and the crowd - but everyone in the bar can see the shock and amusement on the pee-ers face when he realizes everyone is watching him shake off. I'm going to give this four stars for the view and experience. We got there right at the 11am opening, and snagged one of the three dining tables about five feet from the center field warning track at field level. Drinking bloody Mary's and watching players shag fly balls and pick up baseballs literally feet from you was quite an experience. The Tampa bench coach, stood at the screen and said he needed a beer since they were playing so poorly. That said, the bloody and beers were fine.The food is average at best. Kids had brisket and roast beef sandwiches. The brisket wasn't smoked, had no bark or smoked flavor, nothing special. Same with my wings, over deep fried....they were below average. The men's bathroom has a head shot see through....so men can still watch the field while peeing....and others can look back and see your head while doing the same....which I thought was hilarious. So my four stars are atmosphere based....get there early and grab one of the three front row tables...it's an experience. They strictly monitor a 45 minute max sitting at these to allow as many as possible to experience it. read more

Not many bars offer the same atmosphere as Bleacher Bar. Set in the area of where the old batting cages were located inside Fenway Park, this truly is a unique sports bar. Decent fare but don't bother coming if you plan on critiquing the food as this place is all about having drinks with good folks in a historic setting. If you think you're a fan of baseball, this is a must stop if you're in Boston. Amazing location but poor service. We were visiting from out of town and excited to go to the bar. Our friend (high school student from Atlanta like us). was playing on the field. We wanted to watch the game while having lunch. No one was at the hostess stand but we searched out someone to help us. We were seated by the entrance, however, we asked to move to an open table to see the game. There was an open table. The server told us "no because the y needed another server to wait on us"'. We could not see the game from that table. I explained that we wanted to see the game again. I asked to speak to the manager and she said "there isn't a manager here". I explained again that we wanted to see the game and wanted to talk to someone else who could help us. She refused. I told her I was going to write this review bc she wasn't going to help me. I stepped away and told my husband who was by the open table watching the game and we were not able to sit at the open table. I went back to the server station and tried again to ask for help. There were 4 females talking about the situation. I asked for a manager and was told "there isn't a manager but a supervisor". Finally I thought someone would help me. She was rude to me and told me I made her "young server cry when I told her I was going to leave a bad review on Yelo bc she sound big help me". I didn't swear or scream at the server. I repeated my ask 3-4 times for assistance. The supervisor told me "tables are for food. (Yes I knew that and that was not the issue) and that I was at fault. She also told me they would not let us sit at the open table so we can leave." I got my family and left. She was bad mouthing me as I left the establishment when she was talking to the server outside to the right of the front door. I understand people are understaffed. I love places that let you throw peanut shells on the floor. Especially when the floor is pretty new and clean. My mother would've been so proud. Went there last night for an SBS event and was really impressed. I'd heard good things, but I was still pleasantly surprised. The space is good, and even though the place was full it was still pretty easy to move around. I wouldn't say I'm claustrophobic, but I hate trying to traverse the bar when everyone is shoulder to shoulder. This place was pretty frickin sweet. I went with my cousin and a buddy of his one cool evening just because we had walked by it one previous weekend and decided that it needed to be scoped out. There is something eerily magical in getting to see Fenway at night, completely empty, with the moon and random city light pollution shining in over the rows of seats-- glistening off each blade of grass. I couldn't help but stare in awe out of the caged-in opening this bar has that leads directly onto the outfield. This place has, perhaps, the greatest atmosphere of any bar I have been to. Ever. Moreover, the beer was decently priced, the clientele relaxed and chill (I got into a discussion with a Berklee student about the importance of a solid commercial jingle for your company, and how jingle-writing is big-business-- he would later buy me a drink), and the dress code casual (I was in khakis and sneakers-- obviously NOT Tequila Rain material here). Oh, and did i tell you I found $5 on the floor. Awesome. I will try to make it for a game day in the future, and see what that scene is like. Defintely check this place out tho. read more

Free Red Sox tickets! Free Red Sox Tickets! Well, almost anyway... We all know that one of the best parts of going to the game is havin an $8 beer, and a 6$ hot dog after forking over 120 bucks a ticket on Stubhub.com... Not. While tickets are impossible to get and exorbitantly priced to begin with, the Yawkey's, I mean Henry's have done a great job revovating and reuitlizing the space at the old ballyard better than I could have ever imagined. The Bleacher Bar is a perfect example of this ownerships excellence in it's stewardship of our franchise. The interior is in a word, perfect. Dark, warm, but historic. Clean and new, but antiquated feeling. You can feel the pulse of the ballpark pumping as soon as you step down the half flight of stairs entering into the centerfield enclave. Stepping into the ball park for free wasnt' an issue Pre-2000 after the 6th or 7th inning, but that certainly wasn't the case post ~2000 until now with the introduction of this new knot-hole-gang hangout. The view into centerfield is nearly intollerable, but hey, you get what you pay for, and that said, it's probably better than half the obstructed view tickets the ownership actually charges it's patrons for. The menu is limited, but fun and tastey; it's comprised mostly of sandwiches and simple entree's that you'd assoicate with a ballgame. Beers are small for the price, but come in at around 5 bucks as apposed to the 7-plus dollars we'd expect to pay inside the friendly confines... the mens room also feature a unique, ahem, relieving experience (no, they didnt' bring back the trough) in that you can view the ball park while you, ahem, go about your business. The Bleacher Bar is small so it fills up quickly, so get there early if you want to stake out a spot before the game in view of the window to the ballpark, elsewise, you'll need to head out elsewhere to watch the game as the TV's are lacking in the establishment, overall. Once the first pitch is thrown however, the place usually clears out so that you can negotiate a decent spot to watch some of the game if you don't mind standing. A side note: The bleacher bar appears to be the pet project of Larry Luchinno as I see him dining here frequently; to that I say cheers, Larry- Excellent idea. read more

On a game day, get there early for a good seat. The view itself was a little cloudy considering it's right in the bleachers, the sun comes through brightly and can make it hard to make out what's going on on the field. The service was slow - I get it- it's crowded and busy. Can't ask for a better sports bar in Boston. The staff and management are all extremely friendly and accomodating, the drinks are very reasonably priced, and the food (especially the grilled cheese and sliders) is delicious. During football season, the cornhole tournaments that they run on Sunday afternoons are a blast, and they regularly give away Sox tickets for any number of reasons. To top it off, the close-up view of Fenway through the center field garage door is extremely sweet. So this is a bar, and a restaraunt that is located in the Fenway area of Boston, and ERMAHGERD IT'S FENWAY PARK! I can see the park! I can see the field. I can see Pesky Pole. I can hear the lady practicing the Star Spangled Banner (I asked the Red Sox via Twitter to have her sing "Free Bird", but I don't think it works that way :( ). I've been on that field before (I was a Bay State Games athlete, after all), but I want to go back out there again. Of course, considering I'd be arrested for that, this is as close as I can get. Of course, it's not all about Fenway Park theoretically. There is also food and drink. I was able to get a Sam Summer draft (and for $5, not too shabby). I got a cheeseburger as well. The cheeseburger and the pickles were good, but the chips that the others came with were dry and tasteless. We went here right after the Sox vs. Yankees game ended. I expected a huge crowd to trek to the bar, but while it was crowded, I did not feel suffocated. The bar seemed to have a mixed crowd. There were lots of tourists, like me, but I also feel that this is the type of bar to where locals also go. It's pretty amazing to be able to look out onto the field from the bar. I had two beers for 10 bucks----cheaper than drinking during the game, but literally at the same stadium! My friend and I also shared an app platter of pretzels. For some reason I only recently tried out Bleacher Bar for the first time. Went on a random Saturday night. It was pretty packed but there was no line and me and my 2 friends got seats at the bar. The bartenders were quick but a bit rude. The drinks are a little pricey but to be expected for its location. The main reason for my 4 stars are obviously based on my experience coming here during a Red Sox and Yankees game this past weekend. It is pretty freakin awesome that you can see right into the field. I always heard about it but for some reason I guess just didn't believe it. It's literally like you are at the game with some of the best seats in the park. I am assuming you have to get here pretty early to get a table in front of the window - so will definitely be trying that out very soon! read more

I brought my Dad here for father's day. I couldn't have brought him to a more special place for the occasion. We were sat at one of the lucky three tables that look out in to center field. The view of the tranquil empty stadium at dusk was very surreal. These seats are worth waiting for. We had a very attentive and personable waitress (Liz), qualities that are rare for this town. She was quick with a beer and impressed us with her history knowledge about the little nuances about the one month old bar. The sandwiches were good, the side of chips that came with the sandwiches were addicting. The food and drink prices were not as steep as you would on the other side of the turnstiles. Amazingly this place hasn't been "discovered" yet...It will and my rating might change once it becomes inundated with suburbanites and tourists. But until then there really isn't a more unique place to go to in this town. You will definitely find me here again soon. First, let me defend the 3 stars. I have to agree with Rebecca O in that this place will become a tourist stop - i'm sure that's what management had in mind (read: overpriced crappy food, expensive drinks served in plastic cups, tacky t-shirts for sale). That being said - 3 stars does mean "a-ok" in yelpish, and that's what bleacher bar is..just a-ok. it was a brilliant idea to turn an old batting cage/storage area into a bar. the view is pretty frickin' sweet. i love the old fenway "ladies" and "mens" signs above the rest room doors. the window that is at eye level which overlooks the field - brilliant! honestly, that's it, though. the food isn't that good..even for a limited bar menu. honestly, the food and drink is what makes the place kind of awkward. real metal utensils, but plastic and paper plates? plastic cups for beer? Also, they have to strike a deal with NESN or something...the game is visible through the "garage door," but all of the TVs are seven seconds behind. can't they get a live feed or something? i wasn't expecting much in terms of food, but i was really disappointed with my salad, and that's because the mixed green salad isn't a mixed green salad. it's iceberg lettuce (with 1 romaine leaf, shredded), tomato, and gross croutons. that's it. i was, however, excited about my side of fries. i wish they were crispier, but the portion size was generous. i'm totally coming back here. even though it's cramped, touristy, and awkward with plastic cups and whatnot, it's a cool space with a GREAT view. read more

It's a bar UNDER Fenway Park. It's possibly the only place one can get a decent view of the field at Fenway without shelling out $100. What could possibly go wrong? A lot, as it turns out. I went on a non-game day when the street was closed down for a 21+ festival. My first attempt to get in was stymied by an employee telling me to go around to another entrance, even though I was already in the building by the time he stopped me. My second attempt was stymied when a door guy tried to card me at a 21+ event. Although I'm approaching the age to be flattered when carded, it's still an inconvenience most of the time to fish it out, especially when the street is closed off to underage patrons. Once inside, I grabbed a seat at the bar and waited for a bartender to come over. And waited, and waited. Now, sometimes bars are extremely busy and it takes a few minutes to get someone's attention. But there were 4 people behind the bar and I appeared to be the only one waiting. Making eye contact didn't work, waving my hands didn't work. By the time someone finally handed me a sticky menu, I had had enough. I can imagine this would be a pretty cool place to hang out during a Sox game, but bad service is never ok. read more

L-O-V-E this place!! If your looking for a great spot for some food and drinks before heading into Fenway for a Sox game, this is the place to be! Not only is the staff extrememly nice and attentive, but you get to enjoy an ice cold beer and a burger while starring out at Fenway field, its a steal! They do have to close the garage door once the game starts, but you can see through the mess covering. It's a fun little bar with a big inviting atmosphere. Even on a busy day/night game, my wait at the bar has never been exceedingly long, the bartenders are really quick on their feet and equally pay attention to all those waiting for a drink. They also put on comedy shows here, which they last one I went to, Andy Milanokis showed up! (sorry if I butchered the name haha). This is a little bit a a unique place, I'll give you that. The area that looks out onto the field isn't much bigger than a standard garage door (a little taller) so during a game or even warm-ups your not going to get much of a view. We were there for Sunday lunch and the Buffalo Bills crowd was in there to cheer on their team. It's a good way to use the resturant when hometown teams are not playing. The food was pretty basic and plain pub without much flavor. At first I thought the whole men's room viewing window was funny but as time went on I realized how gross the situation was. The Sox weren't playing during our visit, but we wanted to get as much of the nostalgia while we were in town for a short time. Bleacher Bar is a fun spot if you're looking to watch the game without tickets, bring in some visiting tourists or grab a beer before the game or a show at HOB. But, the food is just so-so and the service is not great. I've been here a few times and never loved it, but you have to appreciate the fact that you can see the game live through a garage-sized window! You have to order food if you want to sit at one of the tables in front of the window, but you can just stand around with your drinks to watch. I'm a Boston Sports Fan. A lifelong Masshole. A Belichick Believer. One of the Fenway Faithful. So, for me, writing a review of a place that squats in the very shadow of Fenway Park, yet is a BUFFALO BILLS bar during football season, feels a bit weird. Nonetheless, I am compelled by journalistic integrity to throw these guys the bones they're due: Bleacher Bar is a cool spot for a drink any time of the year. During the regular season, this place is a teeming hive of Bills fan activity on game days, and in the pre-season when football and baseball are still being played, you get a weird mix of folks sometimes. But no matter who's in the place, the bartenders know how to keep everyone fed and beered. During the quieter times, this is a decent spot to get a drink and a snack, and enjoy the choice of seats. During baseball season, it's a touristy cave of wonder, with their view of the field right inside the bar. There's nothing to hate about Bleacher Bar, and a lot to love. read more

We went last Monday for my girlfriend's brother's birthday. We wanted to celebrate there before going to the game. And that's exactly what we did. Thanks Patricia! We walked in and it was perfect timing. We ended up in the center table to watch the game from field level. I'm not sure what this area is called but it was a great experience to be there. Bleacher Bar is pretty, pretty cool. I've taken several people here, but most notably my father who is a HUGE sports (and sports bar) fan. He said, "This is the coolest bar I've ever been to in my whole life." That's an incredible compliment coming from a man who's imbibed at some of the finest watering holes around. Last night I went with a friend after we couldn't score tickets for the game. We got seats right by the window and enjoyed the entire game there! Beers were very reasonable for the area ($4). Bleacher Bar is fantastic! What an incredible idea...and hats off to the person who pulled it off. A bar in the center field stands of Fenway Park - arguably one of the best baseball parks in the game - and make it open to the public. When you walk into Bleacher Bar you immediately feel welcome, the staff are friendly, the food is great, the drinks are reasonably priced, and on top of all this, you have the view. At Bleacher Bar you can see directly into Fenway Park as if you're standing on the warning track. Its fantastic. When games aren't playing the raise the glass for a clear view and when there are games playing they lower the glass which still allows for a great view. (With the glass, you can see out, but no one can see in.) Overall, its a Boston Sports Bar that is in a class all to its own. read more

I've been wanting to check this place out since I heard about it. I finally got a chance to when I was walking through the neighborhood this evening. The inside was nice, not too over the top with Red Sox stuff, just the right amount of theming so that it let the awesome view of the park through the garage door speak for itself. Unfortunately there was a massive mound of dirt in the outfield while I was there, obstructing some of the view but I can't hold that against this place. It is a lot smaller than some of the other sports bars in the area so I can see how it would get way too packed on a game day but for the off season or during away games, its great. Sandwich prices were a bit steep (to be expected I guess) and there isn't a whole lot of variety on the menu. I had the Pastrami burger which was pretty delicious- it was like a fusion of rueben and burger awesomeness. Our waitress was really nice, much better than anyone I've had over at Cask. Not what I expected to be honest--I was thinking bar food, burgers and wings, not deli sandwiches, I was left feeling underwhelmed by the menu. Except the snacks--THOSE all looked great and I was well pleased with both the Bacon Cheesy Fries and Fried Pickles. I've been back to the Bleacher bar a couple of times since my first visit in 2009. I am still impressed: They make good quality food and have a simple menu. But my food today was not as good as my previous visits. Today I tried their fries ("Rick's Fries") and I found them to be a little too salty. They seem to be hand-cut, and they were good, but I feel that they over-salted them. For my meal, I had the brisket sandwich. It was a heaping amount of decent brisket, but I found the meat to be a little dry and lacking in flavor. In the future, I'll probably stick with something easy like a burger. Great place to grab a drink and some grub before a game or event at Fenway. Its literally underneath the bleachers at Fenway and when the garage door is open you are inches from being on the field. Draw backs... Its tiny and gets packed! But you know that going in. Its got good food, not great, but not bad by any means. I got the beef sliders and hey were tasty, juicy and fresh. They were pretty big too, they weren't a shitty burger cut into pieces. They came with what appeared to be house sweet pickles, they were decent. My wife got the cheesy bacon fries, and thats what they were. Friends got a tomato flat bread and it looked fresh and tasty. They also got onion rings, which were 100% home made and beer battered, fried to golden brown perfection. Good joint, one of a kind, Red Sox/Fenway Park ambiance at it best! read more

The service was excellent for how crowded it was! Our waitress was very attentive and had our drinks to us within a few mins! I recommend coming here for the experience and the food! I can't believe I lived in Boston for three years without knowing about this fantastic place! Obviously the location can't be beat, but it also has a pretty solid menu (if you like fried food and sandwiches), tons of bottled beers, and a cool vibe with epic moments in baseball history hanging on the walls. The view into Fenway Park needs no promoting so lets focus on the food. I love sliders so I was thrilled to see 3 different kinds on the menu. The classic sliders are excellent, topped with caramelized onions, tomato, and shredded lettuce. The Italian sausage sliders have a good kick and are topped with bell peppers. The grilled cheese was very tasty, with salty bacon inside. Some of the more unique menu items are the fried pickles (better than Hooter's IMO) and the gluttonous gravy fries which I couldn't stop eating, though I don't know why because I think the idea is actually pretty gross. Even the classic pastrami on rye (you can choose the bread) was done just right. I love how the food is served on paper plates and (almost all of) the beer can come in bottles. I also love how almost everything is served with tasty bread and butter pickles. It's all so perfect for the baseball setting. I have not been here on a game night, (I'm a little afraid of how crazy it might get, to be honest) but I'm planning on changing that soon. I was basically drinking my beer on Fenway Field!!!!!! The Bleacher Bar is any baseball fans ultimate dream bar. Grab a nice cold brew from their great beer selection, order up some surprisingly tasty grub, and enjoy the view of Fenway. It's a madhouse on game days, but is a fun bar that everyone should experience at least a few times. Their on tap beer selection is always rotating, and the bartenders are very helpful and attentive. When its packed it can take a while to order, but that's expected when you go to a kickass, one-of-a-kind bar like the Bleacher Bar. Even if there aren't any games going on I highly recommend going to Bleacher Bar for an afternoon brew and some grub with a local friend or someone visiting from out of town.
