When we asked to close out our tab, the bartender brought us a receipt with a QR code that allowed us to pay directly from our phone. I scanned the code, completed the payment, and received confirmation thanking us for our payment. As we were walking to our vehicle, the same bartender ran outside and began yelling that we had not paid our tab. I calmly explained that we had paid and showed her the payment confirmation screenshot. I understand that mistakes and misunderstandings happen, but confronting guests outside and immediately assuming they are attempting to leave without paying is not an appropriate way to handle the situation. The payment system provided by the restaurant clearly allowed us to pay through the QR code. If employees are not properly trained on how that system works, the restaurant should either provide additional training or remove that payment option. The food and drinks were enjoyable, but the way we were treated at the end of the evening overshadowed the rest of the experience. Management should address this so other paying customers are not embarrassed or falsely accused.
