Thank you RideHub for one of the best trail days in my 10 years of riding!!…read more I flew to BC to visit family with no expectations of having a chance to ride. However, the dirt gods smiled and I managed to sneak away to Squamish for an afternoon. RideHub was able to work me into their schedule on short notice. Knowing that I did not have any gear, they provided everything I needed: bike, helmet, pads, water. They even had some trail snacks to share with me! Sara took me on half-day tour of the lushest forests I've ever ridden. She did an phenomenal job of picking trails that both matched my ability level and provided a tasty sampling of classic Squamish features. From steep berms to skinnies to iconic slabs, it was a mountain biking dream come true. We ran into a kids from the RideHub summer camps and the lot of us hooted and hollered down the mountain together. I've done a few mountain bike destination trips to other places and rental bikes are a mixed bag. A big shout out to RideHub mechanic Freddy! My Norco Sight Carbon performed flawlessly. He helped me dial in the suspension and the bike did not give me a single problem. Drivetrain shifted well, brakes modulated and were silent, suspension squished when I needed it to squish, dropper was smooth. Really top notch mechanic and a wonderfully maintained machine. Finally, major props to SORCA, the local trail advocacy group. So many trails and they were all in such prime condition. I would not hesitate to recommend RideHub to people of all ability levels. Sara is great at picking the right route for your ability level, she is a great coach, and she an awesome ride partner. Great memories. Yew!!!

Typically, bike shops max out the PSI on the suspension and tires to protect the bike (and punish the rider), but this shop did the complete opposite. I rented a Trek Slash, and it was very impressive how perfectly the bike was set up for my weight and size. I was in and out quickly during both the checkout and check-in processes. I highly recommend them

In retrospect, this family of four - 17yo girl, 12yo boy and two 59yo parents - very happy about that because it led us here, which is also known as Dialed In Cycling. The bikes were less expensive to rent and the personalized service by an experienced rider - rather than the kids working the front counters at the big places - made it an even better value. Dan took care to make sure the bikes were properly fitted and have us the instruction we needed. We're from Portland and didn't want or need a tour, just a good bike, some friendly advice and the trail forks app. Dan, the person we worked with, was great. Looked at us, guessed accurately what we would be able to accomplish in the four hours we had, and gave us the perfect route to experience easy and moderate BC mountain biking trails that were fun and gorgeous. In addition to all the other positives, they are closer to the trails than other shops so you can park and ride up into the wilderness right from the shop. Note that this is mountain biking so socialize your kids to the fact that they will need to go up to go down.

Ever feel like the challenges of life are closing in on you? Sometimes it just feels like it is…read moreonly a matter of time before you succumb to those pressures and demands. It feels not so much a question of if, but when, you'll finally be consumed by them. And then, often by accident, life takes an unexpected turn and you are provided an opportunity to choose to push the eject button (that's been right in front of longer than you realized) and propel yourself into what feels like an alternative universe. A place that allows you to unplug from the breakneck pace of today's society, take a deep breath, and finally linger in the bliss of just being present. No chirping cell phones, no calendar reminders, no bills to receive, no health concerns to ponder, and no need to make plans for the future. An all too brief respite from what emotionally entangles you and seeks to rob you of your peace and your purpose. Without planning it, we fell into such a rabbit hole while floating down the River of Golden Dreams (its actual name). A little rowing (and a lot of just floating) later, we arrived at Green Lake and just allowed the wind to help us drift across glacial waters so green we felt like they can be seen from outer space. We dipped our hands into that water, splashed it around a bit, and pondered just how much time and attention it voluntarily sacrifices to the stresses of today. It whispered its response back to us, "None." So what to do if Green Lake doesn't happen to be in your backyard, and yet an escape is exactly what you need right about now? Good question! We're on this journey right alongside of you, so while we're pursuing our "Green Lake escape", we wish you good fortune in discovering yours! (In keeping with Canadian tradition, we were careful to pack an "Oh Henry!" bar as part of the emergency rations for us and our tour guide Peter.) And that's...Henry's Take. #celebratelife #justbreathe #wetadventures

Walk down the path where you find a nice little park with people lounging and participating in water activities. We struggled and found ourselves in the village until we called to ask where exactly they were located. The rental cabin here is situated right on the end of Alta Lake with canoes, kayaks, etc. for rent. We signed a waiver, got a quick lesson, and were pretty much off with our kayak for $30 CAD/hour. They provided lifejackets, paddles, and even a waterproof pouch to store your things. If you're smart, bring a nice beer or drink along as they have cupholder in the kayak. Even though this was my second time kayaking, it's easy to pick up. Unfortunately, I am still terrible at it and totally lack the strength and direction to pull through. Thank goodness we got the two-person kayak, so I had help --lots of help. You can make it across the entire lake and back within the hour, which was all we needed.

Polar Express - this was very very expensive for what it inevitably turned out to be. We paid…read morealmost $300 for 5 silver tickets, about the same as the Harry Potter experience! Now I don't know if it's very expensive to run the train back and forth along maybe a 1km span slowly for an hr or what. The kids got confused and I genuinely thought they'd forgotten someone and had to go back to the station until it continued past and went back and forth in an industrial area and past the same houses and condos numerous times. I really expected we'd go to another destination one way for 20-30 mins for a drop off somewhere magical and come back an hr or so later. Even if that wasn't the case, just go in one direction for 20 mins, then come back, make the trip worthwhile! The train itself is nice, interesting to see the Rocky mountaineer up close. Christmas decor was very minimal, a string of lights on each end and the pre packaged cookie came in the last 10 mins of the "journey". The cast of characters that came through was fun for the kids. No Santa on our train. And Christmas music made it festive. The museum that serves as the "North Pole" was decked out nicely for what it was and I appreciate the effort from what I can assume was mostly volunteer run and put together. It did remind me very much of what they would do at a place like the Roundhouse community center though... Had I known how it would be for the price we paid, I think we would have allocated that hefty sum to another set of activities around Vancouver. Even my 7 year old was saying 'look we're just back at the same station, we didn't go anywhere!'. I'm sure on a regular museum day it's a nice place. But seriously, for the amount of money we were charged, quite disappointed overall. Been there, done that. It was a decent experience for the children overall but there's so many other things that kind of $$ could be spent on. Know what you're buying and maybe you won't have the expectations we did.
