-----…read more Concise Review - AMAZING look on the brackets for a wall shelf!!! ----- Longer Review Our daughter wanted to hand a shelf on her wall, a long piece of wood to be supported by two brackets underneath and she discovered the Chesterfield Antique Mall, and we visited. There are many many people who sell antiques there, each one with a store / shop - their own space. We wandered down the ramp to the lower level and found John's shop... with amazing pieces of Walnut, Cherry, Hickory and other pieces of amazing wood. John cuts the wood from trees, and most pieces have the edge / bark on them (clean / safe for inside). John calls is "live wood," and e dries it in a kiln, making it sold and dry and unlikely to every warp. John also sells brackets for hanging the wooden shelves on the wall. We happened to meet Collin, who gave me a few tips... thankfully. Soon after we got some urethane and applied four coats over the following couple weeks. We also had the brackets powdercoated at Gateway Powdercoating. Gateway was a big help. We called first to understand what they do and how powder coating works - they charge the metal, which makes the paint, which has the opposite charge, stick to it. And they guided us to their location, which is just a bit west of the I-70 Bryan Road exit, on the north side of I-70. When we got there, the team helped our daughter pick the right color... given the many colors Gateway has that was no small feat. In the end she picked a dark shade of brown, which attaches to the metal with many dimples, which make for a wonderful effect. They can powder coat most any piece of metal, from car parts like exhausts, engine parts and wheels to patio furniture and more. When they told us that they could clean them we were skeptical but after thinking about the cost and mess difference we decided to give the cleaning a shot. We are so glad we did! Our floors look amazing. It's better than we could have hoped and could not be more thrilled with the results! Kevin's crew did a great job even cleaning up the glass from an exterior light fixture that crashed on concrete while they were there. (It was a super blustery day). Amant's Don't floor-shame me too much, please. My darkish…read morebrown kitchen tile grout was a light tan 13 years ago. Apparently, grout should be sealed every few years. Who knew? I was going to do it myself, but I couldn't even get the grout clean. I called the flooring company that installed our tile for help. They recommended Amant's, a floor care co. they've used for years. Kevin Amant came out and provided a free estimate. He patiently answered all my questions. When I called to schedule, they made sure they knew exactly what I wanted and were able to come out within a week. Jeff and Scott were the professionals who cleaned and sealed the tile on my kitchen and bathroom floors, sealed the kitchen backsplash grout, and cleaned some heavily trafficked carpet stairs that proved we raised several kids and dogs and lead active lives. These guys have been doing what they do for almost 30 years each! They were so thorough. They really scrubbed the floor, even getting into the corners and edges. And the stairs look amazing. They also had time to clean a couple small rugs for me. And they put up with my two inquisitive little doodle dogs. I took advantage of the new customer coupon on their website for 10% off the first service. Nice. I plan to have them come back after the holidays and do the wood floors. Then maybe I'll be one of those "no shoes in the house" people.

Like…read moreany project of this nature, there are hiccups, of course there will be, so many moving parts to it. Also adding to the mix, I'm in Chicago and the house is in St. Louis, I did make trips down when it was needed. It did all start at Home Depot, review coming soon. I've done a kitchen here with HD and it worked out well. So after getting the run around in STL no shows for appointments, people that showed up and no bid, or showed up and bid was outrageous to showed up and it was too cheap leaving you to wonder, what will be the quality of the work? I felt this was the way to go, sure I could've saved a few bucks, but I'd rather have it be done well and have a year warranty. This was a top to bottom job, a small wall came out, soffits and electrical was removed, as well as very worn flooring. I had the old cabinets removed to save on some of the demo. After I finalized the design with MaryLynne at HD, a very competent and patient person dealing with my changes, I want an island, no lets make it a peninsula, I want these cabinets, well no, lets get those, etc. There were several bid packages. You need a final one then you sit down with with Hallmark. This is when I met Scott, we did get the finalized plan done and proceeded to get on the schedule. I had to let them know when my cabinets were delivered, once there in my garage they came out and verified that everything they needed was there for the project. They put together a project schedule in writing. I loved this It listed what was being done and by who, the date it was to.start and be completed. We stayed very close to the schedule, minor hiccups. I worked with Terry as the foreman, when I couldn't be there we facetimed or he sent pics. It was helpful that I've done this before, however, his excellent communication skills helped. The team doing the work, couldn't be better. The office staff also helpful. Everyone made what could be a very difficult experience, one that I could get through.

Between the contractor, lowes and hallmark nobody communicated clearly and professionally is was disappointing. They offer no value to your project I would recommend getting in touch with an independent granite organization that actually cares. They charged way more than what was originally quoted (Which final measurements that happens) But when they forgot to do their job they wouldn't come back and install the dishwasher bracket and wanted to charge $200.00 for something they should have supplied out of the three times it was mentioned. Highly suggest not using them. Their customer service feels like you are talking to a robot and they are not sorry for any misunderstanding or hiccup in your project. Buyer Beware!!!!
