Unfortunately, after spending nearly $25,000 on a new A/C system and 14,000 on hard pipe ductwork, I believe it is important to share my experience so others understand the challenges my family and I have faced.I am an ordinary homeowner, providing for a family of five on a modest income, and I had hoped for a professional, dependable relationship with Blanton's. Instead, I have experienced what is, without exaggeration, the most frustrating and disappointing service I have ever had with any company. And because of the warranty, I am now locked into working with them for the next 15 years. I don't have my paperwork as I never received as you will read belowJuly 2024 - Ductwork ReplacementDuring a preventive maintenance visit on July 26, 2024, I reported condensation and sweat buildup in my bathroom vent. The technician noted that my ductwork needed replacing due to excessive moisture.On July 31, 2024, a Blanton's tech provided me two quotes. I chose the "Best" option at $14,000 to replace all attic ductwork, considering it an investment in my home.While the actual installation went fine, communication and scheduling were poor. I had to repeatedly call the office to get updates, as they rarely called me back proactively. It felt like I was constantly chasing them just to get a straight answer. May 2025 - Complete System Failure & Replacement On May 15, my A/C failed catastrophically around 9 PM. I left urgent messages but did not hear back until the next day. On May 16, a technician came to confirm what I already explained on the phone--that the unit was beyond repair. I had specifically said the system had caught fire, but instead of acting with urgency, the response was, "You'll need to wait for a sales rep on Saturday."On May 17, the salesperson arrived within the 8-10 AM window. We discussed moving to a 4-ton unit, which I agreed to, signing paperwork for a $22,000 replacement with warranty coverage.This is where the miscommunication really started:The salesperson told me he would leave and come back later the same day with two standing units so my family would have cooling until the new install. He never came back.When I called the office to ask what happened, I was told, "The tech said he finished and explained everything." That was completely untrue. He had promised to return, and nothing was explained to me.Later, I learned he was sent to another job at an empty daycare building, while my family of five suffered through a hot weekend with no A/C. To me, that was an insult -- prioritizing an unused commercial property over a family home.Tech finally showed up around 5 or 6 with two units but did not communicate timing.Installation & Immediate IssuesOn May 21, the new A/C was installed. The crew was polite and professional, and a manager inspected the work. However, I noticed a lot of side conversations that I wasn't included in, which felt unprofessional given the size of the investment I had just made.On May 22, I received my bill at 7:45 AM, but by midday the system stopped cooling.On May 23, Blanton's told me the unit had a bad board but assured me it would "run fine" until it could be replaced. I was explicitly told, "You'll be fine, and if you have any issues, someone will come out this weekend."On May 24, while away camping, I checked my thermostat and saw the temperature climbing. I called Blanton's multiple times, left messages, and was eventually told, "No one can come out until Tuesday." This was directly contradictory to what I had been told the day before. I left my family and friends to drive three hours home to care for my pets because my house was overheating. On May 25, a tech finally arrived, replaced the board, and got the unit running. But the fix felt like a bandage on what should have been a flawless installation of a brand-new system. For all of this stress and disruption, the only compensation offered was an additional 5-year warranty. To this day, I still have not received the paperwork for that warranty, despite multiple requests. Each time I ask, I'm told, "The service manager will take care of it," but nothing has ever been sent. Ongoing Issues & More Confusion Despite the $14,000 ductwork replacement, condensation issues returned within months, proving that investment was a failure for me right now and a win for the company On September 11, 2025, during preventive maintenance: I was informed that a part was missing and would need to be installed for the system to function properly. I was quoted nearly $1,800 for improved return airflow, despite the fact that I had just paid for all-new ductwork. Again, the tech was professional and polite. My frustration is with the mixed messages, lack of follow-up, and repeated attempts to upsell more work when I've already spent over $36,000 with this company. Alexander arrived promptly. My HVAC system was by far the most difficult project at hand, and I did not do it alone. I appreciated how Alex went far beyond what I expected, and his congeniality was contagious. His suggestion to install a ceiling saver kit was a lifesaver. He thoroughly inspected my attic and outside unit, and took copious photos of both. He got my AC working with his tenacity and problem solving skills. Both were admirable. Beware! I have been paying $29.90 for a monthly membership that includes a spring and fall maintenance. They came out the first week of June to do the maintenance. I specifically ask them to clean the drain lines twice during their visit and was told it was done, I am totally disabled so I can't follow them around as I would like to do. Four weeks later the unit cut off as the drain line was clogged and the float switched shut down the unit. I called and requested service and was charged $298.10. I complained and had to make several phone calls. I was told I would get a refund, which I did for $209.10. They still charged me the $89 service fee. So, in August I set the fall appointment for November 25, 2025. On Nov. 24th I get an email stating that they no longer service the Bonneau area and would not be coming out after paying $29.90 for six months. In the email it was stated that they would credit me 3 months back. I have not received that credit yet. I emailed requesting a phone call, called three times to speak with Brandon, the VP. NOTHING! In the spring maintenance check of 2023 before I became a "member" a tech broke my pullout and told me it would cost $600 for them to fix it after he broke it. I went to Lowes bought all the parts and fixed myself for under $100. I would highly recommend shopping around before I used this company. Blanton and sons came during the week to fix our heat. We paid $1100 for a replacement part and labor. Our heat worked less than 16 days, until it was 30 degrees outside on a Sunday. They were going to charge $159 for a weekend appointment. This has the same problem it had before it was repaired. They called back and cancelled our Sunday appointment I believe because i said i would not pay the Sunday fee. This was terrible customer service. There are lots of reputable companies out there, and this one i would not recommend. I love supporting small businesses, but my air is not working AGAIN. The air conditioning in my classroom was brand new- freshly installed at the start of last school year. It did not cool the room or remove humidity. I followed protocol and reported to my school secretary countless times. People came, told me "oh it's running," "it's supposed to bring in fresh air which might be humid," and people left saying it was working. It's not working. It wasn't until the room reached 86 (felt way hotter) until something was actually done. I had about a month of crisp cool air and then school ended. I returned from summer 2 weeks ago, there was about a week of cool air until boom, humidity like a greenhouse. The thermostat still reads 73 or 74 but it's NOT. It is hot. My paper feels damp. My things in my walls curl. Command strips fall down. And my students are easily irritated by little things while I feel sweaty and sticky all day. This is a faulty product and I feel like they have string us along and next thing you know it will be out of warranty or some other excuse. It's been a year. Fix it. PLEASE! Called Blanton's and they got me on the schedule for first thing Sunday morning. Bonus points to John, who noticed that our neighborhood was on the way between jobs on Saturday, so he squeezed us in day of, suspecting it was a quick fix. Beware of the service hourly price this company charges customers. I called for A/C service at my son's recently purchased house as the units looked almost new and they had installed. I was told it was a blower motor and the parts were under warranty, but we would have to pay labor and the cost would be $714. It seemed high, but I didn't know how big a job it was and agreed. To my surprise the technician spent less than 1 hour on the job. I called their office to question the high charge for an hours worth of labor. Sarah told me she would look into it and call me back, never did. I called for her two other times and she never returned my calls until I sent an email looking to speak to one of the owners. She refused to let me speak to them and said I can talk to her. She states their other costs that go into the labor charge like the office expenses etc. This is ridiculous, no one charges this much for labor. I had also spent $89 for the first visit and she said that should have been deducted from the invoice since we moved forward with the work. Had I not kept pushing the bill, they would have overcharged me the $89 first visit fee as well. Very shady operation in my opinion. read more

I Live in New York and took a chance on Blanton & Sons based on on line reviews for my second home in Charleston. Initially hired for them to come out and access a leak situation. Jessica was honest and helpful. The leak was not a result of the water heater although it's lifespan was limited. I decided to have them install a new heater at the time of a new floor install. They were so helpful setting up the appointment to coincide with the floor removal and installation. I received a text informing me of technician Mike Barrett's arrival along with his photo. Received a second confirmation of appointment the day before. On the day of waited for 3:15 pm appointment until 4:45 pm. No plumber. Called B&S. Not coming. Tried to get in touch with me 2-3 times the day of the appointment. No one answered. B&S cancelled the appointment without notifying me. I checked my Iphone. They were priced a bit higher than other companies but it's well worth it. They are so professional from the time the appointment was booked to reminding me of the appointment to contacting me to let me know the appointment might be a little later than originally planned. Then when he was on his way I got a text with a picture and bio. Graham was not rushed. He was very conscientious and thorough, providing me with pictures and answering all my questions. Blanton Mechanical & Sons was referred to me by my general contractor for the installation of a Mitsubishi HVAC system for our two garages. Their work was excellent, and the system works, just like Jimmy Blanton and his son, Ryan, told me it would. Later, remembering that we'd had a tropical storm that left an inch of water in our garages and wondering if the system should be moved off the ground and elevated by a platform, I called Blanton Mechanical & Sons and asked them about it. No problem. They constructed a treated wood platform, installed it, and raised the system. It took Ryan and Travis almost 3 hours, but they got the job done. They were careful not to cut the line to our landscape lighting, and they cleaned up, making everything look perfect. Ryan looked at our ice maker drain line, and he found and fixed the leak that other plumbers couldn't find. I asked Ryan to give me an invoice, so I could pay for the work he and Travis had done. I was waiting for him and had even made out the check. When Ryan came back, he said that he had called his office, spoken with his brother, Brandon, and that there would be NO CHARGE. So we had Blanton's put in a new AC unit downstairs only to have it go out not a year into use. It's the middle of the summer in South Carolina pushing 100 degrees daily and they could not get out to look at it that day. That's reasonable, no problem even though my wife happens to be pregnant we can make it work. We had another company come out to diagnose the problem (that day mind you) and once the problem was diagnosed it was determined that it was under warranty and would be covered by Blanton's. When they (Blanton's) finally decided to show up, 3 separate appointments went by, each ending with them telling us that they didn't have the correct part and would have to come back another day. All this is understandable albeit a bit unprofessional and the technicians themselves were absolutely professional. However during the final appointment I received not a single call telling me when the technician would arrive, I had to call 3 separate times during a single day to see when they would be arriving. On the final call the woman on the phone stated that she wasn't calling me back because she thought I was rude and hung up on me. A call back resulted in the most unprofessional behavior from who I can only conclude was the manager or owner. I was called multiple names and generally treated like a lowlife. Oh and I was then hung up on again. I would do everything in my power to avoid this company. They operate under the guise of a "Good old boy" family owned company but seem to treat their customers like a large cable company - maybe worse. He even threatened to cancel my warranty because we had another company come and diagnose the problem because they could not show up I sincerely hope that someone considering using them reads this as we have been without AC for almost 2 weeks. This review is based on my latest service with Blanton's. I used them once before and it was a great job from top to bottom. This time I called a week or 2 out, asked for a specific tech and scheduled my appointment for 10:30. To make a long story short, they arrived an hour late and they sent me a different tech than the one I requested. The work itself was great but the customer service representative I dealt with on this occasion dropped the ball 3 times: she never advised me of a supposed 2-hour appointment window; not sending my originally requested technician as promised, and not calling to notify me they would be late (I called them 20 minutes after my appointment time). read more

This was our first experience using Blanton's and we will not do so again. Before even having them out, we had issues scheduling with the customer service representatives. They didn't seem to understand my questions and had difficulty scheduling appointments. A technician was supposed to be at our house between 1-2 for a routine maintenance/check-up of our system because our AC was running fine, but we wanted to make sure it was in peak condition before summer. At 2:45 no one had come and no one had called. We called the company, and they said our technician would be out within 30 minutes. 2 hours later they finally showed up. They started maintaining the unit and then the time came to turn it back on and it would not turn on. They said it was a faulty switch that showed signs of burn marks and they would have to come back later to fix. When they came to give us our invoice, the technician apologetically said they had to charge us a diagnostic fee on top of the cleaning fee and will later charge us the replacement fees. We questioned this as it was working fine until they touched it and they said there was nothing they could do. While we could have been okay with the replacement fees for the part (even though it was fine until they touched it) to be charged an extra $100 to diagnose a problem they created is a slap to the face. We had requested a plumbing quote from them, but we will be taking our business elsewhere. read more
