I can't believe I had never been to Blanco Cafe until this past weekend. I spend a lot of time in San Antonio visiting family, and I love to eat. And Blanco Cafe has been around since 1974! But I'd never been until my grandfather requested it for dinner one night during my most recent visit. FYI There are a couple of restaurants called Blanco Cafe in San Antonio. This one is on Blanco Road, and it's been there for more than 50 years. It's known for its enchiladas, but it has a full menu for breakfast, lunch, and early dinner (they close at 7pm M-Sa and at 3pm on Su, so it's a place for an early dinner only). (They don't have alcohol either, so this isn't your spot for a margarita or beer with dinner.) The cafe is classic and comfortable. It's not fancy but has plenty of charm. People love it so there can be a little bit of a line outside, but it moves fast. We were a table of five and by the time I parked (there's a small lot behind the building and street parking), my family was already seated - and that was a Friday night around 6. Since they're known for their enchiladas, four of the five us got their enchilada plate. They're so classic - classic Tex-Mex enchiladas that is! Tex-Mex enchiladas start with tortillas dipped in a chile sauce (which is what makes them look so red). They're stuffed with gooey cheese and then topped with chile con carne and even more cheese. I can see why Blanco Cafe's enchiladas are so popular. They are classic, delicious, and so crave-able. Served with frijoles, rice, and wonderful flour tortillas, it's just a great, classic meal. I have zero complaints. But if you're not in the mood for enchiladas, they have a full menu with plenty of other items to choose from (and lunch specials Monday through Saturday). I didn't have room for their Fideo Loco, so I'm personally ordering that when I return. Blanco Cafe was a treat. The service was great. The restaurant has no frills but is comfortable and classic and charming. It's simply good. I know I'll be back because even my picky grandfather (he's 102, so his pickiness is understandable) loves it. I'm looking forward to returning! A San Antonio classic I can't believe I hadn't tried until 2026!

09 Dec 2025 It's still so good. We went this afternoon around 3pm. About half crowded. The husband ordered chicken enchiladas and I had the regular chalupa plate. Both come with rice, beans and tortillas. Their flour tortillas are sooooooo good. Just the right amount of char and softness. The plates are tasty. The iced tea is always delicious. Go there.

I love Blanco Cafe. It is the epitome of good Mexican food. I had the Fidel with carne guisada and it was delicious!! It looked like it was going to be greasy but wasn't. I also ordered a chalupa after I ate and it was out in minutes. I sat at the counter and it was great. If you want good goo and fast service come here!!

Amazing service. There were only 2 waiters & there was never any wait or issue with refills. They were both so welcoming & always helpful. The food was very good and the vibe was so welcoming & fun. We will definitely return again once we come back to SA.

What happened Blanco cafe? Their taco's used to be full. Been a lover of blanco cafe for so many years. But my tacos look like they are on a diet. Or have been for quite sometime and they lost a lot of weight. Service is great. Everyone is very nice. Place is still the same ole spot. Homey and comfy place inside. Just the taco quality took a hit.

They line these seats up outside when it's full inside and you have to wait for a table (or your to-go order)

We usually go here for dinner, but today we went for breakfast. It's the classic hole in the wall with amazing, quick, inexpensive food. My $3 taco was huge. I might be skipping lunch.

When I'm looking for classic San Antonio enchiladas, this is my go-to spot. Every time I've been, they are SLAMMED with a line out the door, but the food always comes out super quick and piping hot. I haven't tried anything other than their cheese enchiladas, but why would I?! This is what they're famous for. I love that it feels like a diner and the ladies working are always so so nice to me. Next time I have out-of-town friends visiting, I want to take them here for the experience!

Wowowow this place is great, popped in bc our car was charging across the street and what a great find. The portions are huge, the staff is SO friendly, the food was amazing. We got the enchiladas verdes, tangy tomatillo sauce, big portion, the barbacoa taco- these tacos are BIG and excellent! The chilaquiles and the egg taco, also fabulous! Would recommend!

Went for Sunday morning breakfast. Only had to wait 20 mins or so and we had 6. Place was packed with a line outside. Nice people working there. Nice old building with raised ceilings inside. coffee good. I got megas plate. delicious beans and flour tortillas. Megas were just eggs and chips. They need to add some peppers and onions. The wife got the barbacoa plate. Very good and a lot. We had leftovers for breakfast the next day.

We ordered chips and salsa ($1.99) they came quickly. The salsa was tasty and not too spicy. I had Shrimp Nachos. When he asked about barracho beans, Anthony brought them right away. The ice tea was strong and tasty and he kept our glasses filled. Everything was flavorful and beautifully presented. The building is new. It's very open with high ceilings, lots of windows and cement floors. There was plenty of outdoor seating. There were only a few parking spaces by the entrance. There was free parking on nearby side streets or paid parking in lots behind the restaurant. We would definitely go back when in San Antonio again. The drink menu looked fun! From the moment I walked in, I could tell this place was special. The atmosphere is beautiful, upscale, and inviting. The architecture and design throughout the restaurant are absolutely stunning. Even the restrooms were impressive and reflected the same attention to detail found throughout the entire establishment. The food was outstanding. Every dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. This isn't your typical restaurant experience--the menu is creative, unique, and offers something different. You can tell a lot of thought goes into both the preparation and presentation of every plate. What really made the experience unforgettable, though, was the customer service. My waitress, Kreizon, was absolutely amazing. She was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely made me feel welcome throughout my visit. Great service can make a good meal even better, and she definitely elevated the entire experience. The outdoor dining area is also beautiful and creates a relaxing atmosphere that's perfect for enjoying a meal and taking in the surroundings. If you're looking for a restaurant that offers exceptional food, incredible ambiance, unique architecture, and top-notch customer service, Domingo is a must-visit. Electronic dance music pulsed quietly in the background. The toilets were all individual unisex stalls that were classy, mine had run out of hand towels. Also, the entire restaurant is very dimly lit. I had to use the flashlight on my phone to read the menu, but I have poor eyesight so there's that, but it might explain the quality of the photos I took. The Paloma drink was amazing. It had a great spicy zing in the back of the throat after every sip. Queso was... kinda plain. It might have been better with the add chorizo option. It was very thick. Shrimp cocktail was big, but we started fighting over the shrimp pieces. There was plenty of onion and tomato left over after the batttle. Pollo Asado was a great flavor and the chicken was juicy. Grilled squash that was on the side was good. Chicken enchiladas were good and had freshly sliced jalapeños, which is always a welcome detail. I wasn't able to taste the quesadilla but my daoughter said it was "really good". Fried Chicken sandwich had a great flavor and the bacon was actually pork belly if I'm not mistaken. Sadly there was more batter than chicken. The seasoned fries were delicious and crispy.

We sat on the back patio for dinner on a day when it was 100 degrees out and there were fans all over to help keep the air flowing, which helped immensely. They have some interesting cocktails, such as their jalapeño cucumber margarita which is made with ghost pepper infused tequila. Their salsa tray is nice too, they have 4 to select from and you get three in this appetizer, but we ordered the 4th as well and all were pretty nicely done. The verde was amazing and the roasted tomato was great, just not spicy at all. I tried their combo fajitas and was thankful they came out being simply plated, rather than on the blazing hot, sizzling skillet - I don't need the show, just the good eats. The meats were decent, the beans were amazing. The tortillas were just ok, as I felt like they were way too thick. They offered corn tortillas too, but I'm in Texas, so you get flour, not corn. Save room for dessert, they have amazing churros! Overall, this was a decent visit. Service was nice too. I'd recommend stopping in.

It was delicious! The concha was soft, buttery and flaky, with just the right sweetness. We took home the majority of it and it stayed nice and soft instead of turning hard like so many others. We decided to try several appetizers to go along with our concha to get a wider taste of their food than we would by just ordering a couple entrees. Let me tell you, this was a great idea! We ordered the Tosti-Ceviche Verde, Panela Asado, Mexican Street Corn, and their Spicy Bean Dip. The Ceviche Verde was excellent, the freshness of the fish and shrimp was wonderful with the chipotle mayo and avocado. We chose to have it on the salsa Verde Tostitos and it was all great combination. The Panelo Asado was a completely new dish for us and was extremely good with a savory flavor from the salsa Tlaquepaque that mixed well with the Panela cheese. Their tortillas though not made in house, are made for them and taste like mom made them. The Mexican Street Corn was great and had the perfect bit of char taste from the corn. It was creamy and flavorful, we did think it could use just a tad more lime juice though. The Spicy Bean Dip was very good. You can't go wrong with Oaxaca, Chorizo, and pieces of pork mixed with some mildly spicy beans. Our server was fantastic. She had great recommendations for us, and was quick with checking on our drinks and generally helping us throughout our dinner. The food was prepared quickly, was hot, tasteful and refreshing. We definitely will be going back, and recommend Pan Fila to all of you.
