Blanche Eatery is a small chain with branches across West London. I remember the Hammersmith one from years ago and was pleased to see one pop up on Portobello Road, adding to the increasing choice of lunchtime hangouts in the area.
The best thing about Blanche is the salad bar. They are freshly made every day (presumably in a big kitchen serving all the branches) with some variation from time to time. At the moment there's no avocado and tomato - weird as it seems everyone's favourite and always sells out first. Other favourites include a traditional Greek salad and lovely roasted aubergines with pomegranade. You get a generous selection of five salads of your choice for under £4 takeaway - healthy and good value.
Their other foods look good, too, but I've not made it past their salad bar apart from sampling some of their cakes - the cheese cake in particular is lovely.
As I live and work locally I normally opt for take away, and the interior is just not quite tempting enough to make me want to stay. Still, I've clocked in quite a few check-ins here, definitely a favourite. read more
