Very very very cute ranch. It is about 30-45 mins outside of the east entrance of Yellowstone. A little hard to see the board at night because it is black. You turn in and there is a Creek right there. The ranch is on the left and a trail on the right. We got there around 10 pm at night and could not find the main cabin. The owner, however, was up in her cabin and saw us come and graciously directed us to our cabin. Extremely cute cabin. We had chose the one with a double bed and two single beds - sitting bull. That's two separate rooms which connect through the bathroom. It's all wooden so things creak. But totally loved it!! We stayed for 2 nights and requested a campfire the second night and they started one for us. We bought the s'mores. It is very homely, which I loved. A lot of the people staying there seem to come here very often. I could not distinguish between customers and family! They offer breakfast for 10.95 per person. It's is very filling. Loved the hash browns and the eggs. We didn't take the horse rides and fishing trips they offer, but may be worth a shot. Good place to stay at if you are coming from Cody. Not much to do in east Yellowstone so if you want to go to the main park, this is not the best accommodation option.

This is the perfect get away for anyone looking for tranquility. Hearing the river that runs near the ranch just gives a sense of peace. The location is close to Yellowstone and not too far from the convenience of the town of Cody. The horseback riding was second to none! Loved that the horses and trails with breathtaking views are right on sight! The wranglers and the staff were incredibly kind and the meals on sight were great! Totally recommend this place!

I stayed at the property earlier this week after a 500+ mile day of driving. The staff couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating! After a conflict in my reservation, I was given another room but contacted prior to my arrival to ensure there wouldn't be any issue. I found the rustic setting charming and the family friendly property a nice change from the large hotel experience! Well done, keep up the wonderful hospitality!

All presentations are very well prepared. No negative comments about Indian (native Americans)…read moredepicted anywhere. The single partially inappropriate label was a description of the arrival of "Euro-Americans". It should say Europeans.

"If you know your history Who the heck do I think I am?…read moreI'm just a Buffalo Soldier In the heart of America" (Bob Marley) You will surely get your money's worth when you visit the Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody, Wyoming. How about five museums under one roof!! In fact, there is so much to see that your admission ticket is valid for two days. So, what's there? Let's start with Draper Natural History Museum with exhibits on ecology, wildlife, and geology. We were treated to a wonderful exhibition of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem through immersive, interactive exhibits. We were treated to an awesome Birds of Prey segment and saw handlers talk about the Bald Eagle, Peregrine Falcon, and Turkey Vulture. This was staged outdoors in a big courtyard with bleacher seats. Next, we walked through the Buffalo Bill Museum, saw a highlight video of his amazing life. He was a frontiersman, scout, and showman who became one of the most iconic figures of the American West, gaining fame as a Pony Express rider and Army scout. He was a flamboyant performer and became one of America's first pop culture icons, founding the wildly popular "Buffalo Bill's Wild West". The show toured internationally and at times also starred Sitting Bull and Annie Oakley. The Whitney Western Art Museum celebrated the American West through paintings, sculptures, and mixed media. We saw beautiful examples of art that documented cowboy and Native American culture. Then we saw the Plains Indian Museum that documented the cultures and histories of Native peoples from the Great Plains. We saw examples of clothing, living quarters, children's toys, Lakota beadwork, and Cheyenne regalia. Lastly, we looked at the innovation and history of weapons in the Cody Firearms Museum. It houses one of the most comprehensive collections of American and international firearms, with over 7,000 guns and 30,000 related artifacts. If you are interested in the evolution of firearms technology, their role in military history, hunting, sport, and popular culture, you will spend hours here Together, these museums tell the story of Yellowstone and the American West --all in one place under one roof.

Shark’s Peak Sip and Paint - Me and my painting.

As I sipped my beer, I watched Jessica host one of her Sip and Paint get together. Everyone there seemed to be having a great time - lots of laughter, lots of smiles, and lots of happy people. Afterwards, I spoke to Jessica and said that I would love to try this but that I was a "can't draw a stick man" level artist. I also said that I was impressed with how well everyone's paintings seemed to have turned out. Jessica encouraged me to attend if I had the chance (I am in Cody on vacation for a couple weeks, so I did indeed have the opportunity), and that I just might surprise myself. So, despite my reticence, I made reservations for a family member and myself for the following week. When we arrived, the space was all ready to go. Tables, chairs, tabletop easels, paint brushes, a cup of water (these are water based acrylics), and a tray of all of the needed paints to complete our American masterpieces. Although the night's basic idea was an American flag based sunset with a Buffalo, We were encouraged to use our artistic creativity and to "paint whatever you feel - express yourself." I stuck with the Buffalo. Jessica patiently takes you through the steps of the painting with the brushes to use, the paints used for each step, the blending, and the brush techniques to use to get the different effects. She uses a headset and sound system so she is easily heard by all. My big fear was creating the Buffalo. I was afraid it would look like anything but a Buffalo. Who'd of thought that with just a couple of circles, an oval, and some basic angles, you can build one. We were given excellent and well-paces step by step directions and suggestions as we painted. While there is a finished example prominently displayed elevated up front, Jessica also (effortlessly it seemed) created one as she demonstrated the step. By the time it was done, there were big Buffalos, small Buffalos, flying and levitating Buffalos, branded Buffalos, and skies filled with stars and moons and comets. Just like the week before, our two hours were filled with laughter, smiles, and a lot of people surprised at how well their paintings turned out. And believe me, no one was more surprised than me. What a fun time - a great beer, a chance to meet new new people, an encouraging and charming instructor, and a result that was 100 times better than I had expected. If you get the chance, do yourself a favor and go. I guarantee you will love this.

No matter how long your stay, Cody Shuttle takes care of the details, offering convenient pickup and drop-off at your campground's site. The day we spent with Cody Shuttle, especially our guide Heather, exceeded all our expectations. We set our sights on encountering wildlife and exploring the park, especially the northern part of Yellowstone, having already visited popular spots like Old Faithful. Before we even reached Yellowstone, we marveled at the picturesque landscapes and visited two quaint Montana towns, Cooke City and Silver Gate. We even entered the park via the less-traveled Northeast entrance. Heather was a fountain of knowledge, pointing out wildlife, identifying bird calls, explaining geological features, and offering insights about local plant species. We knew we were in for a treat when we saw a majestic bull moose, its massive antlers on full display. Heather had binoculars and a scope on hand, enabling us to appreciate the wildlife in incredible detail. As we journeyed through Lamar Valley -- the "American Serengeti" -- Heather was always the first to spot the Bison. We saw a vast herd of these "American Buffalo" and their calves often referred to as "red dogs" due to their color, roaming as far as the eye could see. Pronghorn Antelopes were also seen mingling with the herd, a sight that was a poignant reminder of nature hundreds of years ago! Throughout the day, we saw more of Yellowstone's wildlife -- Big Horn Sheep, Mountain Goats, and Elk, often with their young. We enjoyed a fresh and tasty deli lunch at a hotel in Mammoth Springs, a historic district formerly known as "Fort Yellowstone." Heather shared the evolving story of Mammoth Springs. We ended the day with not one, but two Black Bear sightings at different points. We even joked with Heather about arranging a Grizzly Bear appearance, and as we drove on Sylvan Pass towards the East Entrance, there it was, a massive Grizzly Bear! It seemed like every wildlife sighting was perfectly timed, although we know it was pure luck. But we'd like to think that Heather was our lucky charm! By the way, Cathy and Alvin, the owners of Cody Shuttle, are truly dedicated to their service. We met them during our tour; they were exploring the park on a holiday, looking for ways to enhance their tour plans. Our guides Heather and Vicki were extremely knowledgeable on everything and answered all of our questions. We had a lot of questions. I know if we were to do this ourselves we would have been lost and not benefitted from the entire experience. We must have saw 25 to 30 different animals, Old faithful, the pools and colors, waterfalls, rock formations, snow, baby buffalo and eagles... Sit back and put the map away... take Cody Guided tours through Yellowstone and enjoy nature. It was well worth the trip! Cathy and Alvin were great too! Cathy helped set up the trip. And Alvin made sure everything went well!
