How do I leave a review for 100 stars?? I cannot get over the customer service. My review is strictly off of an online purchase, but I'm sure seeing their history of yelp reviews and me being just a computer order with no face to face interaction that the customer service in the store is above and beyond. I ordered a jacket as a gift for my husband and saw the sizes were limited. Medium and xl were the only ones available. Ideally I wanted a small, but I opted for medium. When I placed my order, I got a Thank You email from a Mike. It was a quick email, nothing crazy, saying thanks for my order and to reach out with questions. I was thinking, nice touch. And deleted it. My husbands jacket came and it was nicely wrapped with a hand written note, again thanking us for the purchase. I was again, impressed with the small attention to detail. Small, but seemed like a genuine gesture. Figures the jacket is a tad bigger than my husband wanted. I remembered the email that "Mike" sent, searched for it in my trash, and sent an email asking if we could possibly exchange for a small. I knew my husband got a special edition collaboration jacket and I wasn't sure if there was going to be another shipment or if that was it. Mike emailed me back. Within a couple hours. On a Sunday afternoon. I couldn't believe it. And figures Mike had a signature when he replied to my email. Mike is the co- owner of BlackToe Running lol. He said there weren't anymore smalls and being a special collab item, they wernt getting anymore. As a nice bonus gesture he suggested another jacket, somewhat similar. I thanked him and said I'd have my husband look. And figured that was that. Imagine my surprise when the next day, I saw an email from Mike saying they received a return for a small jacket and would gladly exchange mine. Say whaaaat. Who remembers their customer from the day before and makes it a point to email them on an exchange? I just sent the jacket back so I'm still waiting for the small, but with the customer service I've received so far, I have no doubt the rest of the exchange will be just as smooth. This is a company that my husband randomly found online, but I'm thinking we will become long time repeat customers and am looking forward to it. read more

Great storefront location at Bathurst and King that one cannot miss it, especially with their large windows, they always have their merchandise neatly displayed of running gear. Although the store is quite small, they carry everything that a runner may need from beginner to elite runners. Everything is well organized and the wall display offers a unique concept to showcase their merchandise. The staff has always been friendly and helpful from the opening of the store a couple of years ago. They are quite knowledgeable, plus the owners/staff members are all runners themselves, so definitely a very good sign of a store geared specifically for runners. And how fitting the name of the store, as every runner has experienced a black toe at some time in their running experience. In addition, the store offers group runs and programs for all running levels. One would think it'll be intimidating coming here if you're not an experienced runner, but they do welcome everyone and have different pacing groups which will suit all running levels. Wow! This place is amazing! A great running store, yes, but the nicest people around also happen to be staffing it. I went in with questions about running clubs in the area and left with new shoes. The entire process couldn't have been easier. The woman helping me was genuinely kind, answered all my questions, and was quick to bring out any pair of shoes that she thought might work for me and my running style. She even helped me determine whether I've been pronating/supinating with their bio-mechanical analysis. She was thorough and friendly and it made my time in the store pleasant and super enjoyable. If you're on the market for new running shoes, gear or just have questions about getting together with other runners, this should be your go-to spot. read more

This year I wanted to get back into running and Black Toe has all your running needs. The entire store is devoted to running and the staff are all well experienced runners extremely eager to help and could answer any questions you may have and they have provided me with lots of helpful tips. They carry all the quality sporting/running brands. I have always bought Nike shoes because they fit my narrow feet and felt the most comfortable, but I discovered that a pair of Sauconys was just perfect and felt better than all of the Nikes I have tried there. The store is not big, but I really like the design of the store where most of it is built on a stair and ramp where you can try out running shoes in this mini inclined track. They have an extensive selection of running shoes and a few of the staff members spent a good 45 minutes helping me choose the right shoe for me. In addition to shoes and running wear, they carry all kinds of gadgets, accessories and equipment that has to do with the sport. The store also hosts community workshops and group runs in the evenings, suitable for all levels and it's a great way of meeting like-minded runners. This is a great store for runners of any level and a nice edition to my neighbourhood. read more

This store has what runner's need. Why go to Sport Chek, or National Sports when you can pay a few dollars more, get great service, and have very knowledgable people make sure a shoe is perfect on your foot. Black Toe shines with knowledge. A new store to the west end, but seemingly doing well. If you are an occasional - serious runner, go here to get your shoes. You will not be disappointed. 5 stars! Bad, dehumanizing service. Left to go to the Runners Shop instead where I had wonderful service and spend over $300 in new running gear. Walked in ready to spend up to $300 on shoes. As a young, curvy black woman runner was completely ignored as I browsed. Had to repeatedly seek out a employee to help me with a typical shoe fitting. And was repeated brushed off and ignored and skipped over in line for another customer who just walked in. The space was beautiful the service was horrible and dehumanizing. Went to the Runner's shop on bloor and had an amazing experience instead. Will be going to them for all my running needs from now on. Worth the extra subway trip. read more

I love this running store! Really helpful and friendly staff who will always take the time to make sure you get what you need. They stock a lot of different brands rather just two or three as some other places tend to do so there's a very good chance you will either get what you came for or something better after browsing around. I found them especially helpful for kitting me out with winter running gear after I arrived in Canada from the UK totally unprepared for a Toronto winter! Highly recommend this place. read more

BEST SOCKS EVER. This place sells the most amazing socks, yes they are a bit pricier then what you get from Winners, BUT THE QUALITY AND COMFORT IS UNSURPASSED. This may sound like a silly review to some; but i'm telling you, you will NOT regret buying socks from here, 1 pair, 10 pairs they are worth every single cent spent on them. Excellent customer service - such a friendly, caring, and professional staff team here! I came today to pick up my half marathon bib and decided to buy some discount energy gels ($2.60 per gel if you buy 6 today!) as well as a new pair of runners. Prices are reasonable (same as what's listed on the manufacturer websites) and today they offered a 15% discount for bib pickups. The staff member who helped me was so patient (I tried on so many pairs) and so knowledgeable. Think BlackToe will become my new running store from now on (sorry Running Room)! read more

I was in Toronto on vacation when my sandals broke. I got some oofos sandals at Black Toe Running. They were a little more expensive than if I had bought the same shoes at home in Michigan, but I needed some shoes, so I just bit the bullet. I am glad I did!! I had a problem with them a few months later (the thong on one shoe ripped). I called Black Toe & they said that Oofos headquarters would probably send me a replacement, however, if I Oofos wouldn't not send a replacement, the Black Toe store manager would do so. Black Toe may not be the cheapest game in town, but they stand by their products & have great customer service! read more

I went to this store on a referral from my chiropractor. I was looking to make a major change in my footwear as I was moving from a stability shoe to a neutral shoe after getting orthotics. So I really wanted strong knowledge and excellent service. I came prepared with my current shoes, new orthotics and a note from my chiropractor with details on the type of shoe he wanted me to try. What I ended up getting was a disinterested sales associate who didn't measure my feet, didn't even look or come close to my feet, didn't ask what my issues were, didn't provide clear answers to my questions and, overall, simply couldn't be bothered with me. Two pairs of shoes that he had me try didn't even meet the specs provided by the chiropractor. He told me to try the shoes and then worry about whether they met the specs. At that point, I just wanted to leave. What a huge waste of time and a disappointment. read more
