Blackstone Blvd Walking Path both offers a scenic view of tree lined pathway sandwiched between busy Blackstone Blvd and a convenient 3.1 mile loop to practice 5K runs. Who doesn't love the Blackstone Boulevard Walking Path? Not only is it close to my apartment (don't think I didn't plan that one when I was looking...), but it's easy to get to and use. The path is well maintained and there's lots to look at as you're walking or running. My one criticism would be that if you're looking for a path to aggressively run on, this isn't probably not the one for you. Blackstone Boulevard can often be full of new moms, grandpas and grandmas, and amblers taking a break from work. So if you're looking for a jog or run around 5:30... keep your eyes peeled! read more

What a great path for those that live in the area. If I lived closer I'd be here all the time. It's roughly three miles round trip, but we walked the perimeter of Lippitt Park a few times to up the distance a bit. It's a mostly gravel and dirt path with grass and shade trees on each side that provide a buffer on each side. My normal haunt is the East Pay Bike Path so here are some pros, cons and observations compared to that. - No bikes! It's nice to not have bikers trying to run me down - it's wider - there's plenty of room for two people to walk side by side without getting in the way of others, as long as you stay to the right. You will run into rude people that walk three or four across and won't move though. - plenty of dog walkers, but no obvious "evidence" on the sides of the path. - lots of crosswalks. We ran into mostly considerate drivers that stopped, but there are always one or two that are just in a rush. - the path is a bit uneven in spots. The gravel on the edges is much softer than the middle as well. - make sure you dress in your best workout clothes. Most people were sporting the latest workout fashions. I felt underdressed in my yoga pants and oversized T-shirt. - very limited interaction with those sharing the path. For the most part if you make eye contact the other person will quickly look away. I'm used to a nod, smile or brief hello. I don't have an issue with this as I am anti-social at heart, it's just an observation. All in all it's a great place to get your walk, stroll, jog or run on. read more

Such a great path right in the heart of the East Side! Run, walk, jog, sit, bike... Blackstone has got it all. It's a great walking path nestled in a beautiful community! The walk offers a self-guided tour of some of the east sides more glamorous houses! The best part is on one end is Whole Foods and the other end is Three Sisters Ice Cream! Now that's worth a walk! My favorite part is walking past the lost and found mailbox sitting on a park bench just randomly along the way! From children's books, to stuffed animals, shoes and articles of clothing... You never know what you will see! My favorite was the children's book on Magic! Well, if it was so magical than why is it missing? Shouldn't it just appear back in the hands of its owner? read more

One of Providence's treasures, Blackstone Boulevard is a little park nestled between two driving lanes. It's wide enough that you can feel as if you are in a normal park and not hear the cars drive by. We enjoy bringing the dogs down here and then sitting down on the benches that line the walking path. In the spring time, we enjoy taking this path all the way down to the Hope Street Farmers Market which lies at the end of the road. Early in the morning there are tons of people who are out and about jogging and walking. There are plenty of trashcans and places for you to lay out a blanket and have a picnic. Beautiful part of the city and everyone should take advantage of this place! read more

This is one of my favorite spots on the East Side. It is absolutely the perfect length for my morning run or a walk with a friend or little one. I love that on the Pawtucket side Three Sisters is right there for some coffee, ice cream, or breakfast. Also, during the summer, the farmers market on Saturdays is fabulous! I absolutely love the black stone boulevard walking path! In this wild , technology filled world no one ever appreciates the simple joys of just going for a nice stroll through the park or just relaxing on a park bench, but at black stone you can do this. I love coming here with my mom In the summer because she just absolutely loves the outdoors and this is the perfect way to get exercise and have a nice time. The park is filled with beautiful trees, flowers , statues and lots of benches , gazebos and cute little stump seats. If you have time definitely stop and just enjoy the fresh air. read more

I love the Blackstone Boulevard walking path. The pathway is busy during weekends, but never crowded. The path is perfect for runs, walks with friends, or just sitting for a picnic or a good read. The path is well-manicured. As you run/walk, you can enjoy the comfort of shade and feel like you are in the woods, but you can also look beyond the trees and see the large, well-kept houses along this path. I love this park/walking/running space. I love that it is close to my house (I realize this doesn't help any of you reading at all!). Great space on the East Side of Providence. Lots of people, many passerbys are super friendly and my favorite thing is the Lost and Found mailbox at the top end of the past. It's well kept, decorated trees in December and if you look carefully, stump chairs too! Love it! If you find yourself on the East Side, take a break and a stroll. You deserve it! read more

Yeah, spring is here! The snow has melted, them mud is drying up and the flowering trees are in full bloom. This is my favorite time of year to enjoy the Boulevard. The perfume from the crab apples and plum trees is intoxicating, especially in the early morning hours. This is a perfect place to start your day with a morning jog or walk. I prefer the boulevard in the mornings as it is quieter and you can enjoy the peace of the place; the afternoons/ evenings are much busier but bring a community feel to the path. read more

I love this path. It is mostly unpaved but smooth-ish. There are usually people walking along it and it's a pretty walk.

A beautiful path for runners and walkers, I am so glad I live close to it! I have run at all times of the day and never felt that it was too crowded. It is great to see regulars on the path. I ran on this path at 4 AM before work. I thought that was crazy but I would see others running and walking too! One of my favorite places to run in PVD, I make sure to include this trail on my long runs. Great for just a stroll to! read more

Great place to walk your dog. It's starts right next to the Hope Street Market that runs through the summer and early fall. There is also a bike path that runs each side which i plan to try put soon! My only complaint is that it wasn't shoveled during the storms, so I missed a couple of long walks with the dog lately due to bad weather. read more

I generally love all green space, but am particularly a fan of such spaces that are wide enough for runners, walkers and dogs to coexist peacefully. I also appreciate that there are benches and grass along the path, perfect for a mid-run stop. The path is well maintained and beautiful - plenty of flowers and trees to make the romp enjoyable. I also love that there's a lost and found along one of the benches. Yay for good deeds, like returning a lost glove on a cold winter day! My only comment would be that, along certain stretches, there are not as many garbage pails as I would like to see...particularly when carrying dog poo three blocks! read more

Great for walking, jogging and running. The scenery is beautiful and you don't have to worry about animal droppings along the path.

One of my favorite running spots. The park is so well maintained, people who walk, run here are used to other walkers and runners so they tend to stay on their side and don't walk 4 across the path. The area is really beautiful, there are always beautiful homes to see, people having picnics, kids collecting leaves etc. It's a little slice of heaven. Parking around is pretty amble and after your run/walk there's plenty of place to grab a refreshing drink or maybe ice cream. read more

This is the reason I NEVER want to leave the East Side of Providence. I absolutely love running here- and find it so refreshing to see some of the same people over and over again. I just wish that you could not feel so nervous crossing the areas where there are cars. Maybe there should be a system that explains it on a sign? I think people who don't normally run there are confused- and if you are there with a stroller it just makes it that much more nervewracking! read more

My go to walking/jogging path. It is nice anytime of year and especially beautiful in the spring with the blooming trees and flowers.

This is an elegant and peaceful place to run and/or walk. It's a gravel path (mostly) under and between trees. At the occasional cross streets, cars reliably stop. The other exercisers are polite and respectful. It's 1.5 miles, with nice turnarounds at the ends, so a good three mile run, with benches to rest or do a few modified pushups. If you start on Hope Ave after 5, you can put your sushi order in at Ran Zan and pick it up when you are done. Or you can go to the Eastside Marketplace first, get dinner, then run. read more

I used to be a weekly walker/jogger on this path until recently when my car got broken into while parked there. It was around 745 pm and the sun was setting and I came back to my car with shattered windows and all my belongings gone! Police took over 30 mins to arrive and it was just awful! Due to the amount of people and children using this path there should be more done to keep this park safe! I haven't been able to go back since which is a shame. read more

Love this walking path! It's a beautiful place to go for a jog or leisurely stroll. There are plenty of beautiful trees and gorgeous houses to view. Although there are roads on both sides of the path it manages to feel secluded from traffic. Sometimes we'll start at Three Sister's coffee house on Hope St. to grab a latte (or ice cream cone in the summer) before starting on the path. read more

Come to Blackstone Boulevard, commonly referred to as "the boulevard" by those who frequent it. My gay hubby and I are here walking and perusing the scene at least 2/3 times a week. We enjoy the atmosphere and the chance of running into love here both old and new. My lil doggie loves to come here and smell the other 3,000,000 dogs traces left behind. Also, he starts fights with the biggest dogs possible while ignoring anything that he could remotely take in a fight leaving me to defend us all if a mad dog were to ever spring lose from its owner. Its about 2 miles if you walk it from beginning to end. We park the car on one end and do it back and forth so that we can justify eating a lemon square at East Side Marketplace after our promenade of 4 miles is through. The peeps here range from straight singles, to gays and lesbians, to families, to college hotties to wierdos. A Rhode Island staple! When I moved to RI everyone said have you run/walk the BLVD yet? Funny. It's nice but its not worth dying over. I think the best thing about the BLVD is people watching. You will see and hear people in all stages of life. Walking, jogging, biking,pushing strollers, pushing wheel chairs, meeting friends and so much more. According to Blackstone Conservatory, The Boulevard is "a 1.6 mile long 100-foot wide median bordered by two roadways which each contain a bicycle lane and a traffic lane." Meaning if you run down it and back you'll successfully have run just over a 5K! Not bad! There is always enough parking along the street if you don't mind plunking down in the middle. If you need to take a break, or your whole intention was to enjoy the view, there are plenty of benches. The bad, if you are taking a dog on your journey, there are limited trash cans. Just make sure you watch out for cars when crossing the road. Enjoy! read more

Blackstone Boulevard is a wonderful place for a walk or run. It is a peaceful oasis. I love bringing my pup here for a stroll. Even though so many people use it, most everyone I've encountered is pleasant. I think it is about 3 miles round-trip and the Hope Street Farmer's Market (open seasonally) is fantastic. If it is not open, you can always grab some ice cream from Three Sisters. Blackstone is really just such a lovely place. read more

So shhh! Don't tell anyone, but I live off of Blackstone Blvd but I don't pay more than 700/month (but I'm not telling where..nah nah nah boo boo). Anyways, bragging rights a side, I love this neighborhood/walking path more than anything. It provides me and my husband a nice and quite respite from the usual daily grind. It's great to literally step right out of our apartment steps and on to a beautiful, tree lined walking path filled with joggers (although sometimes the vast amounts of yuppies and soccer moms can be a bit overbearing. In this case, see my review for Lincoln Woods) and walkers from all walks (literally) of life. I walk to the Hope Street/Lippitt Park farmer's market on Saturdays and Wednesdays whenever I get the chance, which is always full of awesome fruits, veggies, baked goods, and more! Lippitt Park is at the end of the walking path at the corner of Blackstone and Hope, and is a great park for families to bring their kids and to hang out with ice cream from 3 sisters. There is always plenty of parking on the street for people taking a stroll on the path or for those coming for the Farmer's Market. read more

You can't beat this place no matter the season, although I do recommend a nice walk in May. I have found my new running path! Beautifully tree lines trail, covered in flowers and beautiful people all enjoying the outdoor. The homes that line Blackstone are also wonderful to look at and dream. I recommend taking a detour and taking a stroll through the Swan Point Cemetery. There are some amazingly old headstones, some dating back to 1750. Enjoy your walk! read more

I love walking Blackstone Blvd. It is a great area for walking on the East Side. Decent walk if you do round trip. Always busy with people but not overwhelmingly. The walk is very peaceful and relaxing despite having road on each side. It is nice and scenic with plenty of benches along the way and plenty of area to just sit and relax on a good day to read or relax. read more
