Family day out with a toddler. Despite the weather being so so it is a very good zoo to visit. Plenty for the children to do. Can easily spend a full day enjoying it all. Animals look well and well cared for.

Blackpool Zoo is a great family attraction, and good fun for adults too. Although I usually 'borrow' nieces or nephews to go here, I have once had a really fantastic date here, and I am always surprised at how many couples there are. The attraction itself is now two in one: the Zoo park and the Dinosaur Safari. You used to have to pay for each attraction, but now your ticket covers entry to both. Dinosaur Safari is really fascinating, especially to young boys. Gilrs will enjoy it too, but I've never yet heard one of the shout 'wow, look, stegosaurus!'. There's not loads to see, but what is there is informative and well presented, and a great addition to the Zoo. It kind of starts the story the Zoo is trying to tell, as you walk out of Dinosaur Safari past my favourite residents at the Zoo, the giant tortoises. Some of the exhibits are quite large, and it can be difficult to spot the animals, but the newer pens: Gorilla Mountian, the Orang-utan and the Sealion pool all have good visibility. Newest enclosure Pride of Blackpool is another favourite of mine. The lionesses Rachel, Jasmine and Gillian are amazing, and now they have a heated outdoor area, can be seen by many more visitors. Sadly, Negus the lion died at the beginnig of this year, but here's hoping the Zoo find a suitable male to join the pride soon. Lemur Wood, Amazonia and the Creepy Crawly experience all give you a chance to get face to face with some exotic animals, and there are regular talks and feeds of a variety of animals throughout the day. Food, as always, is quite expensive. The Roma coffee shop in the entrance is light and airy and serves hot and cold snacks. I would suggest though, especially if you visit on a sunny day, pack a picnic and take advantage of the stunning grounds on the park.

What a fantastic Zoo and a great change from Chester Zoo!!! my daughter, partner and I loved it, there was a great selection of animals. Its not as sprawling as Chester Zoo and you can get to see everything, where as I find you can't really get round Chester Zoo in one day. My favourite parts were where you could walk through an enclosure with Monkeys, mainly spider monkeys, free and about, and a lemur walk where they were all really close. I love animals and photos and this was the best of both. My family and I loved it and would go again and recommend to a friend.

After my better half announced that she had bought tickets, I didn't expect much.. Mainly because I'm not a fan of Blackpool as a place, I find Scarborough a better beach destination. However, I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the whole day.. I would definitely recommend and I will be taking the troop back at some point this summer.

So off we go, it was a Saturday and gorgeous weather. So, we were hoping that it wouldn't be too busy given it was a Saturday and not raining. Well we weren't disappointed, although fairly busy, the farm staff were well organised and kept all us all in check. The kids and I started off on the steam train, with the idea that we would get a good idea of where everything was from the ride (well this is what I thought), the kids were more concerned with just going on a train. Half way around we stopped off at the Lake View and the kids played while I chilled out and absorbed the view. After that we got back on the train and finished the journey. The farm has some pedal tractors that kids use to go around the farm on. They looked great fun to me, but I had so much trouble convincing my friends kids that they should try them too. So after much convincing and no way forward, I gave up and instead they went off to the Children's Pet Area where they got to feed and play with the animals. A great day out and thoroughly enjoyed by us all.

First off when you arrive parking is easy enough with plenty of space. Entry is £6 for adults (£7.50 for kids, and there's family ticket and concessions too). It's £1 for three bags of food (which is well worth it!) There's a small café as well as plenty of picnic benches near the entrance along with a kids playground. Just before the barn, quite often they have birds of prey in or creepy crawlies, both of which have been there on previous trips and you're allowed to get hands on. In the farm itself you can see pigs, donkeys, deer, llamas, alpacas, horse, cows, goats and all the sheep! New this year were also wallabies. They have lamb feeding at set times that you can get involved in too. They've also grown a maze made out of maize which is good fun. Finally there's a small train that you can jump on if your little ones are a bit tired!
