Great location in square one food district. Small venue. A bit loud. Service takes awhile, but they're friendly once you get their attention. Full bar available with one small brewery beer on tap, served in a cute short and stout mug in ipa or lager. Great place to hang out, a little bit tight. Seatings for two and high tables. Food quality was great. I would recommend their food. They also have takeout. Great place to grab some food, while the other restaurants had a 50 minute wait in square one, on a Friday night, blackjack bbq was able to accommodate immediately. read more

4.5 Honestly, not a type of place I would care to visit, but the menu items enticed me, as well as, the affordability. Hallelujah that I came here though, because the food was grrrreat! I ordered the Nashville Hot Turkey Sandwich with mustard greens and my boyfriend got the classic burger with fries. The salad was simple but delicious. Perfectly dressed with a light mustard dressing. It paired well with my meal and it was a nice lighter option than fries. The Nashville hot turkey was yum! A nice size sandwich and piece of fried turkey, (for me at least) great flavour and kick of heat. I don't like pickles and usually pick them out, but the pickle complimented nicely with the flavour and heat from the Nashville sauce. Also, turkey is a little healthier than chicken, so that's a plus? Lol I don't like coleslaw but this one, I ate up! It was simple and a little more on the creamer side. I had a couple of my boyfriends fries with that Chipotle mayo. Mm mm mmmm. Love that chipotle mayo. The one thing wrong was that their glasses smelled and tasted chemical like. I couldn't drink as much water as I would've liked, as the smell of the cups were so off putting and also affected the taste of the water. My boyfriend actually ended up really liking the place as it is good food, good portions and well priced. I couldn't agree more. Had the pork rib tips from the $1 Ritual promo, regular price $11. I'm not much of a ribs person, I'm more a steak person, but I thought these were decent. The sauce was tangy, not too heavy, but also nothing special in terms of flavour. The ribs themselves were grilled pretty well, crispy on the outside and not too dry on the inside. But as I was eating, it got soggy fast the more the sauce sat on the ribs. Portion size was also good; it didn't look like much meat but eating ribs is a workout so by the halfway mark I was already leaning towards being a mix of full and tired. Also, this was just an appetizer so for what it was, it was definitely a good amount of meat. All in all, the ribs were solid but nothing really blew me away. It didn't taste smoked at all, just tasted like normal backyard BBQ ribs with sauce. I think maybe serving it on a bed of salad or changing up the sauce to something with more of a kick would have really amped up this experience for me. But based off of other raving reviews, I think I'll come back, give it another chance, and be sure to dine in next time. read more

I came here on the VIP day before the Food District opened. I don't like BBQ sauce, and have never craved BBQ food... however, I tried a sample of their ribs and have been converted. Their bbq sauces don't taste like they're heavily downed by ketchup (which is probably why I hate market bbq sauces). They're fresh and have a zing to them, but not overpowering the meat. I decided to come back their first week open and ordered their Doubled Smoked Pork Rib Tips and Smoked Bacon & Parmesan Cheese Mac & Cheese. They were both amazing. The service was great, staff were friendly and very informative. I came back AGAIN yesterday for lunch and ordered the fried chicken (swapped out my side salad/fries for the charred corn). Small restaurant but the people do really know how to make use of their space! We were walking around looking at options and when we stopped by here, their poutine got my attention and so we decided to go in. There was a wait for it as it was busy but it was fine. The bbq brisket poutine had exactly what you would imagine a bbq brisket poutine would have but with even more stuff! The meat was very rich in flavor, I could really taste the bbq notes. Also, the green onion and cheese helped the bbq taste not too overwhelming. It was a great dish to share among others or just have by yourself. After being open for at least 6 months, my husband and I finally had the chance to try Blackjacks BBQ with a friend visiting from Virginia. The setting of the eatery is like sitting in a dinner with bar decorations. The little seats approximately 40 people. The flavour to the food was nice however seemed to miss just a little more flavour. The protions are not huge but if you love to eat one dish may not be quite enough. Hello Yelpers! After months of passing by I finally got to try it. I was greeted by a lovey man. The eatery is quite small. I ordered pound of wings, half rack ribs with fries and coleslaw. As for my wings, I got the dry rub which wasn't too bad joy was it any good. I think it was legit salt and pepper? The chicken were also in the dry side maybe fried it a bit too much. As for the ribs, it was pretty good. I regret not doing the AYCE ribs and fries that night. It fell off the bone nicely and the sauce was pretty good. As for the fries... basic. The slaw... basic. The soft drinks are bottomless.as for our waiter. Super nice. Great service. I'd recommend talking less with customers.... read more

This restaurant provides a nice addition to the Food District with unique style and delicious items they serve Going to coming back and trying more of their menu Price: Prices are not too bad. Prices range in the $13-$15 range and they are a decent sized portion for what you pay for. I'd rather pay for a little bit more here than go to the mall food court. Service: I went on a Thursday at 3PM, so I was the only customer at the restaurant at the time which worked out the best for me since I got amazing service. They have a good amount of seating so service should be fairly fast. Food came out fast and hot. Food: The food was amazing. The Mac and Cheese looks as delicious as the photos show it to be! The BBQ Brisket Poutine was equally as delicious. The Mac and Cheese with the bacon and chives provided a smoky gooey bite with a fresh aftertaste. The BBQ Brisket Poutine was filled with flavour! The brisket was melt-in-your-mouth and the fries were cooked to perfection. Atmosphere: The decor was the cherry on top. No longer was I thinking I was "eating at the mall" but rather "eating at restaurant that's a part of the mall." Located inside Food District in SQ1 you really don't feel like you're inside a mall. The menu is elaborate yet simple and the seating area is cozy yet spacious. Ordered the home-made beef jerky - personally didn't like it as it lacked flavour. The crispy jalapeño shrimp appetizer was ok but came after we finished our main meal. A great addition to the Square one food district! It's a cozy space, with neat decor to set the vibe. I also really enjoy the bar space, this would be a cute place to take a date for a drink or two before making rounds around the mall. I ordered the smoky BBQ wings, and while it had a good taste, the wings were somewhat small with not alot of meat on them. My friend ordered the dinosaur ribs and it also tasted good, but also had the same issue of not a lot of meat on the bone. The service was great, especially considered how busy it was during the grand opening week. The coleslaw was watery, the burger lacked seasoning, and I think my throat has cuts from when I was trying to swallow their unapologetically old fries. Went for a early evening dinner and was not impressed. I received a hot turkey which did not have much flavour beyond buffalo sauce, I did not taste any "Alabama white sauce" nor did I see any upon inspection. My other guests had a brisket and poboy, neither were impressed with the meal. The brisket was not particularly flavourful and did not seem to be made with the care and attention that brisket requires. The po'boy faired the best but the sear on the hoagie was very strong and over powered other flavours by a strong degree. Additionally, the Ceasar was just tomatoe juice, with some seeds throw in for good measure. It was pricey for what is essentially a mall food court but I guess that's to be expected now. read more

Came here on a Tuesday night with a friend that came to visit from the USA. This was close and I've always wanted to try it out. The restaurant has limited seating my guess is 30 to 40 people inside max since they are located in a food court setting I would say that is pretty good. They serve mainly Southern style BBQ it had the Southern feel but felt like it was missing something to me and the portions aren't to die for either. I think it's good if you're going to be sharing a bunch of different dishes with a friend but 1 dish was slightly not enough even with appetizer. So on Tuesdays they also offer all you can eat wings for $19 per person. We ordered the Mac&Cheese, BBQ Beef Brisket Poutine and the Buttermilk Fried Chicken. The food came out pretty fast but like I said i felt that the portion was just ever so slightly off and the flavour was just not as bold as I hoped it would be.
