There's another man (sans beard and dastar) who has a rather off-putting vibe like he'd rather be anywhere but at the post office, and whose 'help' has been really more of a hindrance. Want to send a family photo with text written on the back in an envelope to the states? Well, that will cost you at least one pound more, or so he told me. Sending a photo costs more than scribbling a note on a piece of paper, for some reason. I think he claimed it had something to do with 'heightened security' measures, or some such rot. And if I had sent a postcard with scribbles on the back in the envelope instead? Well, that doesn't cost more than the usual letter postage. Hmm. The shop itself is massive with the usual greeting cards, soft drinks, stationary and packaging, magazines, and Union Jack-touristy-Jubilee rot. The photo booth, last time I went in, was on the fritz. Meh. A 'Bi-gishu' hawker in red vest usually 'greets' you out front by the post box. Woot.

Now once or twice and this would've been ok but I've seen it now everytime I've gone in. I've tried at 9am (less busy but people had been queuing for 20 minutes), 1pm and 3pm and still no better. The staff CAN be helpful until you need forms filling in then they're about as helpful as an ice cube in hell! I've made sure any companies I deal with now can be done via direct debit or direct in branch as I vowed never to go back there.

The service is really very good and despite the shop looking a little run down, I certainly can't complain and have experienced far worse in the area. In the shop section you can also top up your electric metre which is handy when you live in the stone age like myself and pay via a electricity metre. I went to the Stratford Post Office on Saturday afternoon to return a parcel but they don't offer…read moreprinting labels service. The gentleman recommended me to visit his colleague in the scanner counter at the end of the shop to print the label and some documents for a registration. After showing him the label and the parcel, he come with an A4 paper bigger than my parcel. When I requested for an smaller format, he complained saying "it your fault because that is the size of the document sent". I asked again if he could print an smaller label and his reaction was speechless....he ripped the paper in my face and started raising the voice! After further argument, he ripped the rest of my documents...I have never seen such a bad costumer service in my life! I went back to the post office counter and the gentlemen kindly helped me to write down the address in a piece of paper and send the parcel. I had to pay a bit extra but I don't have a printer at home. Before leaving the place, I went a second time to the scanner counter to ask the disrespectful gentleman for his license number to put a formal complaint but he and all his colleagues refused to give me any details and come out of the desk to face me in an aggressive way! He told me to leave the shop or he will call security because he was losing it. I have never had such a bad costumer service in my life and such a disrespectful behave towards a woman!

I have never had a problem with this post office until this new guy started working here…read more I had a discount Oyster card form which was stamped and signed. I also provided proof of ID and address and he still didn't give me a new Oyster card despite showing more proof than I was supposed to. He accused me of not saying the truth and that I'm not eligible for it. How can that be the case when I have it stamped and signed? I also showed him more proof than I was supposed to. He made me go through so much stress just to get a new Oyster card and I never had to do all this. None of the previous employees ever asked for my bank statement because my ID and form is enough. but this guy made me get my bank statement and on top started looking at my personal things (my outgoing and incoming) The audacity. He kept saying I need to show proof I live in London? How can I not live in London if I literally showed my ID and bank statement? Obviously I got irritated and told him that he isn't doing his job properly and I kept explaining that I'm showing proof of everything but he still said no. He was telling me to provide more than I was supposed to. (He then told me to show a council tax letter to prove I live in London) nowhere does it say I need to provide that to get a discount Oyster card. He was being complicated on purpose. He must get a pay rise for it to be behaving like this. Later, I went to another post office and they gave me a new Oyster card within seconds, they asked no questions and they didn't even ask for my bank statement because it's not needed like this man claims. so after that I went back and showed him that "look you accused me of "lying" so how comes another post office gave it to me" he didn't have no answer he kept saying "I don't know" but still owed me no apology because he couldn't admit he was in the wrong. How are they employing someone like this?

Certainly one…read morecould expect to queue for a long time only to find a gruff employee greeting you and not something one would write a review of! That was the complete opposite of what I experienced when picking up a package that couldn't be delivered while I was out. No line at all despite the single window open in the small "office" and the employee was pleasant and helpful. Totally positive experience to all the horror stories and negative expectations you have going into it. Now you just have to move to East London to get to experience it for yourself!
