I was impressed. The park is clean and well maintained. The perfectly mowed grass made for an ideal setting spending time outside on a lazy day in May. Being from out of town, I found a parking spot along a side street right near the park. Although I did have to pay a meter, I didn't care. I first walked over the Rich Street Bridge. Here you're afforded undisturbed views of the city backdrop. Plus you'll notice the paved walkway with benches to sit down on. The Scioto River cuts straight through the heart of downtown Columbus and adds another photogenic element to the backdrop. Continuing along...I passed beside the Center of Science and Industry, I believe it's called COSI. There appeared to be a charitable event happening, but still, this was a good spot take a seat on a staircase in front of the museum. Next I walked past the Columbus Civic Center Historic District. There was so much fresh green grass here and impeccably groomed. You can seriously just take a nap if you feel it, lol. You get good glances of Columbus' Main Street Bridge with high rise residential buildings in the distance. I spent an hour or two strolling the grounds. The park was a pleasant way to escape the (slightly busy, lol) downtown streets of Columbus without having to venture far away from the city aspect. All in all, it definitely had charming elements of NYC's Central Park, but obviously on a much smaller scale. In the end, for those visitors coming to Columbus, OH for the first time, I'd suggest making an effort to walk around Genoa Park.

Several parking areas, many wooded areas. At least one very nice shelter with bathrooms. And: a playground, our main goal. A great playground. Four separate playsets plus swings. Loads of things for kids to do. One area is fenced in, to corral small kids. Plenty of benches all around, plenty of shade. Only drawback is it's a bit of a walk from the nearest parking lot to the playground. Not as fun for the old guy with bad knees. But, a pleasant walk, and a destination worthy of it.

It's a historical home that has tons of trails at the back and other facilities for recreation. Along with housing Parks and Rec, it is also a preschool! I didn't get to see the whole of the inside but it's cool to see a historic home that is maintained very well for multipurpose use. They even do chair yoga classes in here!

Mostly open space, but with lots of amenities that make it more interesting. A huge playground (no shade on these hot days though.) Lots of shade, just not there by the playground: along walking paths, with benches to sit and eat, etc. Some tables. Basketball courts. A history display, covering the whole area. I did not know we ever had steel mills in Columbus. I did know about Driving Park, and Rickenbacker flying there- and the world's first cargo flight landing there. I did not know that the park used to be a cemetery, and that there are still bodies here because they couldn't find all of them when they relocated it. So, yeah. But, a very interesting historical display and a very nice park. There are shady areas to sit and picnic. And lots of areas to wander. Parking is an issue, because of the hospital, so you will probably have to pay. But if you're at the hospital anyway, waiting for someone (as I was,) it is a good place to hang out. And clearly hospital staff use it as well, a good break for them.

We got married outside and had the reception inside and under the pavillion. The venue provides you with tables and chairs, which is amazing for the price. You are able to bring your own food or high your own vendor. For alcohol, you have to purchase a temporary permit $170 and have to hire from a preferred alcohol vendor. That said, we hired the bartenders from Ohio Bartenders and purchased our own alcohol and beverages. Much cheaper option and worked perfectly. The outside space is large and perfect for any occasion. Also, the pictures you can take are just amazing. You also have access to the kitchen space which has a large standing cooler and industrial ice machine. Everything you need in one place, it's perfect. Parking is a bit scarce but when you reserve you get 26 spots located right in front on the street. I would highly recommend renting this for your next celebration of any kind.

North Bank Park has such wonderful views of the city. It is conveniently located next to the many…read moreparks along the Scioto Mile and connects to the greenway trails that go through the area. It features a very nice and popular shelter that, in non-pandemic times, can be rented. At our visit, it looked like they were doing some work on it. There is a nice large area of picnic tables under a shady area, plus umbrella tables with a great view of the river, providing a lot of opportunities to sit and relax. There is a fountain near the shelter, though it wasn't currently running at the time of our most recent visit - it's probably a bit early in the season. Street parking is available nearby (if you can get it - it was full up when we came by), or there are garages in the area. You can also access via the trails by foot, scooter, bike, and the like. We walked over from Battelle Riverfront Park and back again.

I found yet another good park in Columbus called Northmoor Park. It's easily overshadowed by the…read moregreat Whetstone Park so it's not well known except by those who live around it. There are several smaller parks like it around. It sits near the Olentangy River. The park is not easy to find but it's accessible by the bike trail. It may not be that much to see, but it's more laid back and if you want a quiet time. It has a small parking lot so you may have to park on the street if it's crowded, but usually it's not that much people there. The residents in the homes around it are usually good about keeping the park clean. It's not a big park so there isn't much to do here. There are a few tables you can eat a lunch at. It has a good amount of deer around so there's lots of picture opportunities. The Olentangy Trail is by the park so that's where it seems most of the visitors come from on their way to Whetstone Park. I think Northmoor Park is somewhere that needs appreciated more. It may not have the prestige of its neighboring parks but it still is great to spend time at. The area around it is nice and there is beautiful scenery to see there.

It is a…read moreneighborhood park and fishing spot with old, healthy trees and a scenic ( or what passes for scenic on the Olentangy) view of the river as it comes along a bend just North of N. Broadway. It also has a canoe launch and access to the bike trail which runs through it. The entrance is hidden and seems like a darken drive, but it is there on Olentangy Street. It is a nice place to began a ride, but the parking is few; about nine spaces are available to park on well maintained gravel. Small, the park also has picnic tables. There is much wildlife here. Just north of the park on the trail just before the grass preserve of Whetstone, is a curvature where dear often frolic. These deer are use to people and you can get nice close up pics, or commune with them from as near as 7-feet. There are tall trees here. They are at least 250- year old, and have looked over the Olengangy before Columbus was founded, before Ohio was a state, before the USA was even born. Native American looked at these trees. They are old. It is a combo shot of a pleasure park and rustic naturalness. Though it is small it is shaded and cool in the summer; a place I stop on my rides, runs, and walks to rest. It is also a serene place to read, chill, and take pics.

It's right in the heart of it…read moreall, next door to Nationwide Arena (home of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets), down the street from Huntington Park (home of Columbus' AAA Minor League baseball team), across the street from the Columbus Visitor Center and within walking distance from all the local restaurants. So if you come to visit Columbus, I'd suggest stopping by. What also stands out as a major highlight is the Arch Monument. According to columbus.gov/recreationandparks..."McFerson Commons (Park) is also known to many as "Arch Park" because the focal point of the park is the entry arch from the Old Union Train Station". When I first saw this statuesque arch, I had a quick flashback to standing in front of the famous Arc de Triomphe in Paris. Who would have thought I could be transported to one of the most famous cities in the world?! Lol Exploring around McFerson Commons, although you're in the center of the city streets of Columbus, behind the arch is a long pathway of comforting looking grass. It's nice for sitting down, relaxing and sort of taking a break if you're a tourist from out of town. There are benches to sit on. You can enjoy a picnic. You can take a ball and have a catch, throw a frisbee or whatever you may do for fun. Locals were walking their dogs. Overall, it's just a pleasant, stress free setting. Extra details... - Hours are 7am - 11pm. Address is 218 West Street. - There is parking along the streets for a small fee per hour. You can pay with your credit card at the meters. Overall, McFerson Commons is a quiet little park to hang out at within downtown Columbus. I'm glad I walked around and spent some time here.

Well my friends, this is a great little nook in the downtown area that will certainly fill that need. McFerson Commons, otherwise known as "Arch Park" faces Nationwide Blvd and runs long and narrow between two buildings. The famous arch greets you near the sidewalk and once you walk through, the grass welcomes you with open arms. There's a few benches but I'm a fan of ground sitting honestly. The space is also kept really clean. It makes for a great photo op, especially if you can get one under the arch. I believe various events are also thrown here. It could definitely be versatile. Go ahead, take a break and enjoy escaping the hustle and bustle of the city in this quaint splash of green.
